  1. The trade for Owen Daniels is tempting. I like the Boldin for Lynch trade. And I like the mid-1st and a 3rd Rounder but for this year, not 2010, especially if we acquire Fred Taylor to mentor two young backs (say, Jackson and Moreno). My draft in this scenario is a trade of Lynch for Houston's #15 and 77. We bring in OLB Free Agent Derrick Brooks and RB Fred Taylor (will stay on as asst RB coach), and re-sign Jackson to 4 years. RD1#11 Pettigrew TE RD1#15 Moreno RB RD2#42 Ayers DE RD3#75 Wood OC RD3#77 Jean-Francois DT
  2. Great point. Brooks still has tread on his tires, and knows the system. Now I'm torn about my RD#2 choice, as I think I'd rather have Brooks than these rookie draft picks.
  3. I'd say Coles and a Center on FA and Pettigrew in RD#1 and the offense is set.
  4. If Michael Johnson keeps getting this kind of attention, he'd be a good pick, but may not last until our RD#2. We [DraftTek] currently have him going 8 picks ahead of us to Kansas City (good pick for them, though). The knock on him is being erased at this combine, and he could move a couple more picks up, but not into Round 1 IMHO.
  5. Would Saturday be the better mentor in that scenario? Birk wouldn't be as good a menotr?
  6. Raji isn't a pass rusher? What games do they watch to say that?!?!? I do think that the Bills have pass rush as a top priority in this draft. They have said that Orakpo is not a speed rusher. They have said Maybin's 234 pound weight is an issue (although he has potential for adding weight), and that Everette Brown is a 3-4 guy who may be used as a 4-3 edge rusher. None of these sound like what Modrak is looking for (although Everette Brown comes close. Perhaps Raji isn't the pass rusher; he's an exceptional rush defender to force passing situations.
  7. Given that choice, I would too. And This draft has fewer of the dominating big men. I wouldn't be at all disappointed with Cushing, though.
  8. I have seen him lose contain on a number of occasions, but we're used to that with our existing DE's. He IS very quick to the QB, though...sometimes it's just that the QB is no longer at that spot.
  9. Best use of the word "symbiotic" on TSW. Okay, the only one, but a good use of it.
  10. Barwin's strong showing might loft him into a difficult spot for us, like Poz did: would we need to trade up/down to take him in the early 2nd/late 1st? He's a LDE, so the position is right for us. He also led the Big East in sacks (eleven), and pressure's hugely important to Modrak (see his latest video). The other thing is that Barwin was a former TE. Astro
  11. Very perceptive, Magox. DraftTek has Clay Matthews going to Green Bay in Round 2, the pick before us. It has had Cushing as our Round 1 pick for weeks, and only because BJ Raji slipped to us did they change from Cushing last night. That'd be a tough decision for the Bills War Room--Raji or Cushing, if it came to that. A delightful problem.
  12. Schonert has said that he thinks we'll play ten 3-4 teams this year, and that since our two Centers are both FA's we will need to take a look at FA (including our own players) and the Draft. How anyone would not consider Brown is beyond me. Birk is also worth a look, but Brown should be considered the best fit. Schonert also said that pass protection is going to be a factor, which gives pluses to Brown and Birk. Finally, Modrak said that this draft has a good center group, ands that some will "sift into OC" from this year's OT group. This has to mean Mack and Wood, but also Max Unger. He has both OT and OC experience. I think these are the players they'll look at.
  13. "Bengals won't tag Houshmandzadeh!: The Bengals have chosen to use their franchise tag on PK Shayne Graham, opening the door for WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh to leave the club without any restrictions. Had the club franchised Housh, they would have been forced to guarantee him a one-year deal worth $9.88 million. Now Houshmandzadeh will be able to test free agency when it opens on Feb. 27. Houshmandzadeh told ESPN.com that he's "90-something-percent sure" he won't re-sign with the Bengals. (Updated 02/17/2009). Fantasy Analysis Teams linked to Houshmandzadeh thus far are the 49ers, Bears, Eagles and Seahawks, and more could jump in once free agency starts. Housh has been a reliable receiver and producer of touchdowns over the course of his career. Ultimately, expect him to land a massive salary and a prominent starting job. Assuming his quarterback is a good one, he still has 100-catch potential, but no more than around 1,100 yards. (Updated 02/17/2009). http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/235086/rss
  14. Awesome draft. I don't have much on Troy Nolan. What do you know about him? Would he be FS or SS?
  15. The only thing I have is he was Player of the Week in that Miami-UNC game where he forced a fumble on the last play of the game. Tarheels won, 28-24. Have to like game-changers.
  16. Here's my draft in that scenario: 21-Aaron Maybin OLB Penn State 28-Michael Johnson DE Georgia Tech 53-Jonathan Luigs OC Arkansas 85-Travis Beckum TE Wisconsin 107-Nic Harris SS Oklahoma 139-Corvey Irvin DT Georgia 170-Gartrell Johnson RB Colorado State 202-Maurice Evans DE Penn State Draft using DraftTek's Online Simulator www.DraftTek.com
  17. "Teams that have been reported in the media as potential acquisition targets are the Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, St. Louis Rams, Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers. " http://www.carealestatejournal.com/newswir...9274&evid=1 ------------------------------ "Last Tuesday, voters in the City of Industry, a tiny town about 15 miles east of Los Angeles, approved a bond measure that would provide $150 million for infrastructure improvements at a 600-acre site where a stadium has been proposed to lure an NFL team. The results support a proposal by billionaire developer Ed Roski's Majestic Real Estate Co. to build an $800 million stadium if an NFL team agrees to move there. Roski is friends with the Spanos family, which owns the Chargers. The team told Roski last summer that it would continue to search for a stadium site in San Diego County." http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d8...mp;confirm=true
  18. Have to agree. I'm all for signing Brown for the three noses we face in our division, and a Round 3 OC/OG (Eric Wood, Urbik, Levitre) for development. OLine is very important this offseason; we need to do everything we can to ensure Beast Mode late in the season.
  19. I traded down to Houston's pick at 15, secured their RD3#77, and switched spots with the Giants for their two second rounders, giving up a 4th Rounder. The highlights: Round Pick Team Selection Psn School 1 1 Detroit Andre Smith OT Alabama 1 2 St Louis Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech 1 3 KC Aaron Curry OLB Wake Forest 1 4 Seattle Eugene Monroe OT Virginia 1 5 Cleveland Malcolm Jenkins CB Ohio State 1 6 Cincinnati Michael Oher OT Mississippi 1 7 Oakland Everette Brown DE Florida State 1 8 J'ville Jason Smith OT Baylor 1 9 GBay BJ Raji_____ DT Boston College 1 10 San Fran Brian Orakpo DE Texas 1 11 Houston Matthew Stafford QB Georgia 1 12 Denver Rey Maualuga ILB USC 1 13 Washing Brian Cushing OLB USC 1 14 N Orleans Peria Jerry_ DT Mississippi 1 15 Buffalo Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri 2 45 Buffalo Robert Ayers DE Tennessee 2 60 Buffalo Chase Coffman TE Missouri 3 75 Buffalo Eric Wood__ OC Louisville 3 77 Buffalo Tyrone McKenzie OLB S Florida This report was produced using Draft Tek's Draft Simulator: http://www.Drafttek.com
  20. We have Mack as going at #33 or #35. Much more likely than #11 because of the Senior Bowl week. Besides. Draft Dog's LAST update was November 30. This is unheard of with some sites updating daily. Must not be spending the time on it this year.
  21. Rams have tons of needs so they'll want picks. I see WR as maybe the Bills' 5th or 6th greatest need. Now if needs start to be filled via FA, I'd be willing to trade a pick, otherwise, just say no. I actually LIKE some of the WR's in Rounds 5-7.
