  2. This is from a draft site I like when looking at the positives and negatives of players. NFLDraftU Chase Coffman - Missouri (HT: 6'6" | WT: 245) Projection: 3rd Round Strengths: -one of the better receiving TEs in the draft -hands and concentration, good leaper which makes him a taller target than he already is, makes catches in traffic -creates mismatches with the combination of his size and athleticism -runs smooth routes, quick off the line of scrimmage -can read coverage, always finds a way to get open -character (hard worker, plays through pain) Weaknesses: -lacks bulk and overall strength -struggles to sustain blocks -speed is below average (estimated 4.83 40-time), lacks speed to break a long run after the catch James Casey - Junior - Rice (HT: 6'4" | WT: 245) Projection: 3rd-4th Round Strengths: -versatile and athletic, has been drafted by the Chicago White Sox as a pitcher, spent a year on the Rice track team, began his career in football a DE and played 7 positions one game as a freshman -field awareness, helps that he can take a perspective from multiple positions -has shown he can easily gain or lose weight based on position -has only played 2 years of college football, so who knows how good he can be -has great hands, pretty elusive in the open field, good quickness in space -would be a good fit as a Wildcat QB, does a good job throwing the ball and runs well on reverses and QB draws -one of the most intriguing prospects in the draft Weaknesses: -is already 24 years old, he started late because of his baseball career -plays in a pass-heavy offense at Rice which may inflate his stats -not great height for a TE, he could add another 10 pounds -does not have great TE speed -his draft stock will be dependent on his height and weight at the combine -does not have much experience in the blocking game
  3. In our Draft Game, the Bills have taken Aaron Maybin DE/OLB and Alex Mack OC, both in Round 1, by trading their RD1#11 and RD3 pick to Philly for their #21 and #28. Here is the draft so far, up to the Bills' RD2#42 Pick: Round Pick Team Selection Psn School 1 1 Detroit Andre Smith OT Alabama 1 2 St Louis Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech 1 3 Kansas City Aaron Curry OLB Wake Forest 1 4 Seattle Eugene Monroe OT Virginia 1 5 Cleveland Malcolm Jenkins CB Ohio State 1 6 Cincinnati Michael Oher OT Mississippi 1 7 Oakland Everette Brown DE Florida State 1 8 Jacksonville Jason Smith OT Baylor 1 9 Green Bay BJ Raji DT Boston College 1 10 San Francisco Brian Orakpo DE Texas 1 11 Philadelphia Knowshon Moreno RB Georgia 1 12 Denver Rey Maualuga ILB USC 1 13 Washington Brian Cushing OLB USC 1 14 New Orleans Peria Jerry DT Mississippi 1 15 Houston Matthew Stafford QB Georgia 1 16 San Diego DJ Moore CB Vanderbilt 1 17 NY Jets James Laurinaitis ILB Ohio State 1 18 Chicago Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri 1 19 Tampa Bay Percy Harvin WR Florida 1 20 Detroit Mark Sanchez QB USC 1 21 Buffalo Aaron Maybin OLB Penn State 1 22 Minnesota Eben Britton OT Arizona 1 23 New England Brandon Pettigrew TE Oklahoma St 1 24 Atlanta Vontae Davis CB Illinois 1 25 Miami Alphonso Smith CB Wake Forest 1 26 Baltimore Tyson Jackson DE LSU 1 27 Indianapolis Chris Wells RB Ohio State 1 28 Buffalo Alex Mack OC California 1 29 NY Giants Hakeem Nicks WR North Carolina 1 30 Tennessee Sean Smith CB Utah 1 31 Arizona LeSean McCoy RB Pittsburgh 1 32 Pittsburgh William Beatty OT Connecticut 2 33 Detroit Michael Johnson DE Georgia Tech 2 34 Kansas City Robert Ayers DE Tennessee 2 35 St Louis Darius Butler CB Connecticut 2 36 Cleveland Larry English OLB Northern Illinois 2 37 Seattle Darrius Heyward-Bey WR Maryland 2 38 Cincinnati Max Unger OC Oregon 2 39 Jacksonville Derrick Williams WR Penn State 2 40 Oakland Kenny Britt WR Rutgers 2 41 Green Bay Clint Sintim OLB Virginia 2 42 Buffalo This pick can make or break your draft, because there is no 3rd Rounder. Do you... ...get a TE who's different from Derek Fine? ...take a true OLB? ...take the top-graded Guard? ...Get another DE? ...Pair Stroud with a DT named Ziggy? ...Get the draft's possibly-best FS? ...Snare the Doak Walker winner at RB? ...Take the pick the Jets covet, Josh Freeman? You're on the clock. We await your card at the speakers' table.
  4. As Bills Correspondent for www.DraftTek.com, I am excited by the T.O. signing. It tells me that the Bills are committed to improving its team, and not only offense. TO will keep drives going, which will benefit the defense, and score touchdowns, which will benefit our strong spepcial teams play. TO is a red zone advantage, and will divert attention from our other playmakers. Finally, bringing in a playmaker is exactly what Ralph said he wanted. I don't think we're done in FA. Scheffler or Gonzalez may not be far behind.
  5. It's a dead heat between Alex Mack and Michael Johnson. We'll give people one more hour to vote, and then move to Round 2.
  6. That's Cool! TO's Popcorn makes me think of kernels, which remind me of Colonels, which remind me of Colonel Sanders, which remind me of wings, which remind me of Buffalo. This match was made in heaven.
  7. In fourth grade, did you get red marks on your papers saying "Please Explain"?
  8. Now we believe that one makes the other happen, especially in small-market cities. One signing (or two; still hoping for a TE) can ennervate the public, producing more season sales, more jersey sales, more optimistic predictions, more PR buzz, etc.... To sustain that, this team will have to win in a great division.
  9. Good points. Notice that when the Bills picked Maybin, Pettigrew was off the board to New England 1 selection later. Makes one think that, if they wanted English, they'd pick Pettigrew at #21 in this scenario. Having picked Maybin already (a better, more versatile pick than English), maybe we'd just pick Mack OR trade down (picking perhaps Eric Wood or Jon Luigs at OC plus a TE like Coffman or James Casey.
  10. "Where are all the news guys? This ain't Dallas. If I put this clown nose on in Dallas, I would make the front page news." "I was open, but Trent kept throwing to Stevie J and Pettigrew. It's a disgrace, man. If it wasn't for the wings, I'd be outa here."
  11. So far it's Michael Johnson, Alex Mack, and Larry English. The Pros for Johnson are that you take care of your #1 problem at LDE--pressure on the quarterback. Johnson is over 6'6", 255, with frame to add weight. He's the tallest, among the heaviest, and pound for pound one of the fastest. He's athletic, and does what we ask DE's to do in Buffalo. The Cons for Johnson are that he has not been a sack specialist like Orakpo or Maybin, we have already taken Maybin in the first round, and he's essentially untested at OLB (where some scouts see him playing next). Moreover, we have to keep remind ourselves that Ralph Wilson wants playmakers. Alex Mack has been rated by many as the best OL in football, not just the draft. If he's still here by this pick, I'll be surprised--but he is in this game because our simulator picks based on team needs, so he falls to #28. Mack has great lower body strength, intelligence, "pocket awareness", and would be a countermeasure against the big nose tackles s in our division. The Cons for Mack is that it's not a playmaker, not a glamour pick, but a solid addition to the line, providing Edwards time to find Evans-Owens-Tight End. Larry English is an interesting 3rd place selection. He's a tweener, likely more suited for the 3-4, but "relentless". He could be a Dwight Freeney type, with a quick first step toward the passer, good strength off the edge, great closing speed. With Maybin and English, we would have two of the fastest DE/OLB's in the draft. However, English will, IMHO, lack the size against the run and coverage skills against the pass.
  12. If you use TE's all the time, they don't "signal" a particular play. If the Bills plan on using Tight Ends in pass plays, then they need a better O-Line and playmaking WR. They just got the latter. Watch for the Bills to swing a deal for a playmaking TE in free agency this week. If they don't luck out, I think we'll take Pettigrew in RD1 or Casey in RD2.
  13. I'm going off our Big Board. We have Coffman and Duke Robinson going in RD#2. Stay Tuned.
  14. How about Gonzo/Scheffler and a blocking TE even later in the draft? You pick up a blocking TE in free agency (Gonzo is actually a decent blocker, Scheffler's better) and draft Jared Bronson TE Central Washington in the 7th Round. We have a very good receiving TE in Fine. I also like Bear Pascoe--great hands, strong mauling blocker. Not fast, but looks like a football player.
  15. So far in our Annual TSW Draft Game the Bills traded down, grabbing Philly's two first rounders in exchange for their 1st and 3rd rounders. The Bills have selected Aaron Maybin, DE/OLB with the 21st pick. 45% of the Wallers picked Maybin. Here are the picks up to our next pick: Round Pick Team Selection Psn School 1 1 Detroit Andre Smith OT Alabama 1 2 St Louis Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech 1 3 Kansas City Aaron Curry OLB Wake Forest 1 4 Seattle Eugene Monroe OT Virginia 1 5 Cleveland Malcolm Jenkins CB Ohio State 1 6 Cincinnati Michael Oher OT Mississippi 1 7 Oakland Everette Brown DE Florida State 1 8 Jacksonville Jason Smith OT Baylor 1 9 Green Bay BJ Raji DT Boston College 1 10 San Francisco Brian Orakpo DE Texas 1 11 Philadelphia Knowshon Moreno RB Georgia 1 12 Denver Rey Maualuga ILB USC 1 13 Washington Brian Cushing OLB USC 1 14 New Orleans Peria Jerry DT Mississippi 1 15 Houston Matthew Stafford QB Georgia 1 16 San Diego DJ Moore CB Vanderbilt 1 17 NY Jets James Laurinaitis ILB Ohio State 1 18 Chicago Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri 1 19 Tampa Bay Percy Harvin WR Florida 1 20 Detroit Mark Sanchez QB USC 1 21 Buffalo Aaron Maybin OLB Penn State 1 22 Minnesota Eben Britton OT Arizona 1 23 New England Brandon Pettigrew TE Oklahoma St 1 24 Atlanta Vontae Davis CB Illinois 1 25 Miami Alphonso Smith CB Wake Forest 1 26 Baltimore Tyson Jackson DE LSU 1 27 Indianapolis Chris Wells RB Ohio State
  16. Agree with you, 'Gox. In fact, I'd rather take Pettigrew on a trade down more than anything, and take Waters at OG. Then I think the starting offense is set. We'll take a 2nd Day WR again for depth and/or the PS.
  17. I'll be listing English as a pick very soon --You haven't missed your chance.
  18. One of the interesting things about this year's Bills draft will be whether the Bills take the system guy or the BPA regardless of system. Maybin vs Tyson Jackson is a good example. Jackson is more the 4-3 DE, while Maybin is the DE/OLB type a la Dwight Freeney. Another question will be how far Pettigrew falls in this draft. We don't have the blocker/receiver TE on this roster, and Pettigrew is the quintessential blocker/receiver TE in the draft. Would these teams be in the market for a TE, because they pick before we pick again at #28? Minnesota----TE is a P4 Need; probably will go CB or OT in RD1 New England---stocked with TE's; probably 3rd least likely position to draft Atlanta---P5 need; OT, DT, CB their greatest needs Miami---P5 need; WR, DT, CB their greatest needs Baltimore---LB, DE, WR more likely Indianapolis---WR greatest need, but DT, OLB would make sense I'd bet Pettigrew falls through to #28.
  19. The best way to put a$ses in the stands is to put a$ses on the field?
  20. The Bills trade with Philly for their two First Rounders and Surrender their 3rd Rounder. Here is the list (From DraftTek.com) of who's been drafted so far. Round Pick Team Selection Psn School 1 1 Detroit Andre Smith OT Alabama 1 2 St Louis Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech 1 3 KC Aaron Curry OLB Wake Forest 1 4 Seattle Eugene Monroe OT Virginia 1 5 Cleveland Malcolm Jenkins CB Ohio State 1 6 Cincinnati Michael Oher OT Mississippi 1 7 Oakland Everette Brown DE Florida State 1 8 J'Ville Jason Smith OT Baylor 1 9 Green Bay BJ Raji----------- DT Boston College 1 10 San Fran Brian Orakpo DE Texas 1 11 Phila Knowshon Moreno RB Georgia 1 12 Denver Rey Maualuga ILB USC 1 13 Wash Brian Cushing OLB USC 1 14 New Orl Peria Jerry -------------DT Mississippi 1 15 Houston Matthew Stafford QB Georgia 1 16 S Diego DJ Moore------ CB Vanderbilt 1 17 NY Jets James Laurinaitis ILB Ohio State 1 18 Chicago Jeremy Maclin WR Missouri 1 19 T Bay Percy Harvin WR Florida 1 20 Detroit Mark Sanchez QB USC Philly takes Knowshon Moreno with the #11. Maualuga comes off next to Denver. Washington takes Cushing and the Saints get Peria Jerry. Two QB's go to Houston and Detroit, and Two WR's go to Da Bearss and TBay. Bills are on the clock. Will they take Tyson Jackson DE now (he's been a rising star lately), Maybin for OLB, Britton at OT, or Pettigrew TE? RB? WR? Will any be there when they pick again after 6 teams make their selections? Discussion Welcome! Astro This report was produced using Draft Tek's Draft Simulator: WWW.Drafttek.com
  21. How does one hand-write a letter? I have forgotten.
  22. Cato June has the experience, and Keiaho is a tackling machine who had a great year. Both are upgrades, and I'd be happy if they picked one of them up soon. And yes, I'm bored silly. 50 days and 16 hours til the draft, I believe.

  24. Agree. I actually like Keiaho more, but would take June as an upgrade to Ellison. I think a OLB signing owuld reduce the chances we go Cushing in RD#1. All the more indication we'd pick our DE or TE there.
