  1. My logic is that, if the Bills wanted Pettigrew, they would likely trade down and end up with another 3rd rounder. To get Scheffler, offer a 3rd Rounder and a compensatory clause if he makes Pro Bowl.
  2. All of these are 5th round or later: 1. Joel Bell, OT, Furman. ---Two Bells are better than one. He played Right Tackle and has great footwork and attitude. 2. Matt Shaughnessy, DE, Wisconsin 3. Steve Rehring, LG, Ohio State ---Played out of position after a foot injury. Big man (6-7, 333) but quick (5.39). 4. Roy Miller, DT, Texas --- Good size and speed, noticeable in bowl game. 5. Chase Holbrook, QB, New Mexico State --- 67% completion and good size.
  3. Great point, because if the Bills take Oher, I can name 4 clubs who wanted a LT that are further down in Round 1. When will Peters have more value than after the Bills take Oher?
  4. Raji, remember, was short. He was just trying to get higher.
  5. Ron Turner seemingly would be the right offensive coordinator to take advantage of the quarterback's gunslinger tendencies. They have Bennett and Cutler back together again like at Vanderbilt, no?
  6. I wonder what they'd do if their choice is Ziggy Hood DT or Michael Johnson OLB...Go Hood?
  7. DraftTek Round 1 Page currently lists the Bills' choice as Defensive End Tyson Jackson out of LSU. As the Bills' Correspondent, I want to know if you'd like to see who we'd take if we put a Lock Out on Jackson. Draft Countdown lists Jackson's strengths and weaknesses below. Do the weaknesses indicate to you that Jackson wouldn't be what the Bills are looking for (high-motor, quick, edge rushing, good pass rushing, sack-meister)? Strengths: Outstanding size and bulk...Has a big frame with long arms and large hands...Powerful with excellent strength...Tough and physical...Good athleticism...Quick with a burst...Uses his hands well...Can really hold his ground...Terrific bull rusher...Offers a lot of versatility...Has a lot of experience against elite competition... Hard worker ... Team leader. Weaknesses: Average timed speed...Motor is inconsistent...Questionable instincts and awareness...Needs to do a better job of shedding blocks...Doesn't change directions well...Has some trouble in space...Not a threat off the edge...Just an average pass rusher and won't rack up a lot of sacks. 8. Matthews thinks he could be a 4-3 OLB or an up DE, so he's the more likely 3-down LB. He'd be a good WLB. Your city of Atlanta would also like him, I'm told.
  9. I am actually more concerned now that Freeman might go to the Jets. I think he has major size, good arm, and mobility. He'll be better than Cutler in a couple years.
  10. Great Point, 'Gox! Detroit (#1 and 20), Rams (#2), and Jax (#8) saw this trade go down, too, and it might affect their decisions there, but Freeman is still likely there at #11 for several teams to fight over. The short list would be Detroit (at #20), Bucs, Jets. The longer list would add Panthers, Seahawks, Titans. What If Detroit wants #11 now? See my sig.
  11. I think GBay and Denver have other fish to fry, so here's the simulation from DraftTek: 1 Detroit Aaron Curry OLB43 Wake Forest 2 St Louis Jason Smith OT Baylor 3 Kansas City Brian Orakpo DE43 Texas 4 Seattle Michael Crabtree WRF Texas Tech 5 Cleveland Malcolm Jenkins CB Ohio State 6 Cincinnati Eugene Monroe OT Virginia 7 Oakland Everette Brown DE43 Florida State 8 Jacksonville Mark Sanchez QB USC 9 Green Bay Tyson Jackson DE34 LSU 10 San Francisco Andre Smith OT Alabama 11 Buffalo BJ Raji DT34 Boston College 12 Denver Rey Maualuga ILB USC 13 Washington Michael Oher OT Mississippi 14 New Orleans Brian Cushing OLB43 USC 15 Houston Clay Matthews OLB43 USC 16 San Diego Jeremy Maclin WRF Missouri 17 NY Jets Matthew Stafford QB Georgia 18 Chicago Hakeem Nicks WRF North Carolina 19 Tampa Bay Peria Jerry DT43 Mississippi
  12. ---Cushing is the strongest, most physical and explosive of the three. ---Cushing was captain of USC's defense. ---Cushing displayed impressive quickness and explosiveness but showed tightness in his hips during coverage drills. ---Cushing came off the field a lot on third down in college; Cushing may not be a three-down linebacker. ---Cushing could make an impact right away. ---Cushing is more effective at the point of attack. ---Ken Norton Jr said Cushing was the best linebacker he ever coached. ---Cushing and Matthews have the versatility to rush the passer. ---Matthews is clearly the better of the two (Matthews and Cushing) when dropping. ---Matthews has tremendous bloodlines: father Clay played linebacker in the NFL (including for Bill Belichick when he was coaching the Browns). ---Matthews' uncle Bruce, an offensive lineman, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007. Newsome and Matthews were co-first round draft picks of the Browns in 1978. The older Matthews holds the Browns' franchise record with 232 games played. ---Matthews has had just 10 career starts. ---Matthews, on Pro Day, was very smooth and showed good ball skills during coverage drills. ---Matthews is a natural pass-rusher with good speed upfield, has good balance and burst, and is instinctive. ---Matthews is the quickest of them all. ---Matthews' size is more suited to inside in a 3-4 system
  13. I know we'll never draft a Left Tackle from Texas again.
  14. Fingon and Dean, thanks for clearing that up. The draft is still unlikely, which I said then. Fingon--I like the mock in your sig.
  15. That's not what this is saying: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/mock
  16. I'd do a happy dance. Very very happy. With this scenario, I'd also want us to sign Keiaho at OLB to compete with Ellison. Very, very happy...
  17. I thought this would be a good feature here on TSW. I'll post a draft I've found in my mock munching and let everybody pick it to shreds! Our first mock to mock comes from CBS Sports' Mike Lombardi. It starts to go south right around #11, IMHO, when the Bills choose between the #1 WR in Crabtree, the #1 CB (who many see as the #1 Safety), a hot DE in Ayers, a perfect Tampa2 DT in Jerry, the #1 RB in Knowshon Moreno described as the next Barry Sanders by some, the #1 Tight End, and other guys (Maclin, Everette Brown, Oher, Harvin, English, etc.). And we choose whom? 1. DET Matthew Stafford 2. STL Aaron Curry 3. KC Eugene Monroe 4. SEA Jason Smith 5. CLE Brian Orakpo 6. CIN Andre Smith 7. OAK B.J. Raji 8. JAC Mark Sanchez 9. GB Tyson Jackson 10. SF Aaron Maybin 11.BUF Josh Freeman 12. DEN Robert Ayers 13. WAS Michael Crabtree 14. NO Malcolm Jenkins 15. HOU Peria Jerry 16. SD Knowshon Moreno 17. NYJ Brandon Pettigrew 18. CHI Jeremy Maclin 19. TB Everette Brown 20. DET Eben Britton 21. PHI Michael Oher 22. MIN Percy Harvin 23. NE Larry English 24. ATL Clay Matthews 25. MIA Brian Cushing 26. BAL Evander Hood 27. IND Jarron Gilbert 28. PHI Shawn Nelson 29. NYG Kenny Britt 30. TEN Vontae Davis 31. ARI Donald Brown 32. PIT Max Unger
  18. I agree with Thurman#1. Pettigrew might be the best outlet we can have for Edwards--he can block, then move into position to receive an outlet pass and run 5 yards. That's a different kind of tight end than the speedburner TE's that Coffman is. I want the multipurpose TE for Edwards. We also need to take advantage of our spot in the drfat. Someone might slip to us we didn't expect. If it's a Raji, I don't give a hoo-hah if it's not a TE-OLB-DE---you take him. Also, if someone else wants to trade with us, and give us a RD2 or RD3 pick, I say you do that.
  19. I'm taking Pettigrew and here's why. This draft will run out of TE's who can block a lot quicker than OLB's. I see only 3 guys at most whose blocking is NOT a liability. I don't see how the others are going to help a 7-9 team. I actually like OLB's in this draft well into Round 4. We have OLB Jonathan Casillias from Wisconsin going to Buffalo at pick #110 on DraftTek, and several of us really like this pick. From our #110 pick on, there is only one OLB I like, and that's Nic Harris.
  20. I want good Lines in this draft. How is this? Sign Gonzo for 2-3 years 1-Get #21, #28 Philadelphia, switch our Round 3's and 4's, they get #11 1-Peria Jerry DT 1-Robert Ayers DE 2-Robinson OG 3-Jonathan Luigs OC 4-T.J. Lang OG 5-Nic Harris OLB 6-Brannan Southerland FB 7-Dan Gronkowski TE
  21. I think this is a clear signal that the Bills are thinking of trading down. This would be a horrid pick at #11, but an excellent pick at #28 (Philly), #33 (Detroit) or our own RD2 #42.
  22. Robinson would be a no-brainer in the 3rd if he's there. Our latest mock has him going at #58 in RD2 to the Cheatriots. http://www.drafttek.com/round22009.asp
  23. I'll take the better blocker (Gonzo) plus Pettigrew. In the next 2 years, Gonzo teaches 'Grew how to work his magic, particularly in the red zone. We need these veterans to guide our young team, which will again be one of the youngest starting 22 in the NFL.
