  1. This is consistent with what Modrak said in his interview about liking line prospects who had experience at >1 position. Unger is one of them.
  2. MY point was that it WAS an insightful post given what signals Modrak is sending off.
  3. Hold Your Horses! Modrak has said that this is a very good Center Group, speaking about the draft. He also said that some would sift into the OC group from OT, that they would watch for the best pass protectors (Handgartener fills this decription as does Mack), and he said that OG in this draft was not as deep. He said that both OC's are free agents and that they would need 2 more. We've brought in one. He also said that 10 of our games this year are against 3-4 teams with NT's, and you need a good Center. I think we'll see a Center chosen in this draft--maybe later on like Newton or Edwin Williams in RD5 or 6, or maybe Wood/Mack/Caldwell. Remember footwork is huge with these guys, and Wood is known for footwork.
  4. What are the chances the Bills Brass can pull off a Trifecta like Lynch, Poz, Edwards again this year? There are 3 more attractive draft combinations where we could possibly have 3 starters this year: TE, DE, OLB---Pettigrew, Johnson, Sidbury (or Pettigrew, Barwin, Brown--less likely) DE, OLB, TE---E-Brown, English, Casey (or Coffman but he's not what we're looking for) OLB, DE, TE---Cushing/Matthews, Johnson, Casey These are the best 3 combinations IMHO. If I had to guess what the Bills brass do, it'll be #1, hopefully garnering another RD3 pick along the way for a Guard (Levitre, Urbik), glamour pick (Ramses Barden) or FS (Darcel McBath).
  5. You're still talking about only one TE---Pettigrew, and he's only available in Round 1. What's your Plan?
  6. Is it me, or does this sound like we need Pettigrew!?!
  7. I agree that 4 yrs/$10M sounds right for a proven back. However, the Bills will wait until after draft day to offer it. Compensation for Jackson would be a first rounder, and there are RB's in RD6 of this draft better than Xavier Omon IMHO. Add to this, we don't know right now if we will have money (thanks, Peters and agent), or if we'll have 2-3 first rounders to pay using the same money (our #11, and 1 or 2 first-rounders for Peters or trade-down).
  8. "Every Down" rules out Maybin and boosts Tyson Jackson's stock a bit. If Orakpo and Jackson are there, they may see Jackson as a better choice for a 3-down defender. Orakpo or Brown may have more sacks on less playing time, which may be all right for the defensive line rotation we like to play.
  9. I hope you meant coddles. Anyway, Cushing would be a great pick. Look at Patrick Willis's numbers as a rookie. We'd have an elite LB corps. We'd still need pressure on the passer, and a strong OLB pick at #11 would mean that Pick 2 WON'T be a "tweener" DE/OLB type, but a true pass rusher--someone like Ayers, Ziggy Hood, maybe Jarron Gilbert.
  10. If this happens in RD1, there will be lots of beer on the floor, lots of groans, some "WHA....OH NO!!!"'s, and then Bills fans will begin to see a logic in the pick, around Game 2 or 3. Do I want that to be the pick, I'd rather see DE or TE, but he's in my Fave 5.
  11. both. RD3 will be our last chance for DE and OLB. Sidbury, maybe Cody Brown or Zack Follett is about it at OLB, and Sidbury, maybe Dorell Scott is end of the line at DE. It'd be too bad if we were looking for something other than OG (Levitre, Urbik ) or TE James Casey in RD3.
  12. If they pick Jenkins, you're seeing the new Safety, not a CB. He'd make a heluva Safety, and I wouldn't want to face McK, McG, Whitner, Jenkins as a defensive backfield.
  13. I'll give my QB weapons and he'll be first rate. I won't need as solid a line as a result (although I'll be taking some run blockers like Urbik to play run-pass. I will also be taking Ayers in Round 2 and bringing in Keiaho, so I'll have an improved defense. We'll in 36-27 instead of lose 10-0.
  14. What will happen in this draft (as it does every year) is that certain positions slide due to some depth (or mediocrity) at certain positions. I predict this year those positions wil be RB, OLB, CB, and WR. Players like Nic Harris will fall to RD4 or 5 because OLB's are plentiful. On the other hand, some positions go like hotcakes. This will happen to OT and DE this year. Teams will be reaching for DE's after 2 rounds. If we leave DE to RD3, we will be signaling that we're going after Keiaho or settling for Ellison.
  15. Crabtree WR in the first, then Ayers DE in the second, then James Casey TE in the third, and Trevor Canfield OG in the fourth. I sign Keiaho at WLB.
  16. I think you have to take Crabtree and E-Brown regardless. Crabtree has had 231 rec in two years. If no one calls in our 15 minutes, we take him. Everette Brown, Orakpo or Maybin at your chief need --QB pressure-- isn't much to ask of a rookie, whereas the WILL linebacker needs to be a veteran in this defense (think Keiaho). That's why I think we most likely will take the DE first. IF WE TRADE DOWN (or get late first round picks like we have in recent years), you have to take Pettigrew. His block-and-receive skillset is unique, and he can put a check on a DE and go out in coverage, edging the SAM linebacker out away from the box. He's my must-have player, but not necessarily the only player we take in Round 1.
  17. Let 'em have #1 and its headaches. Give me Detroit's #20, #33, and #65 for Peters instead: 11 Buffalo Michael Oher OT Mississippi 20 Buffalo Brandon Pettigrew TE Oklahoma St 33 Buffalo Robert Ayers DE43 Tennessee 42 Buffalo Eric Wood OG Louisville 65 Buffalo William Moore FS Missouri 75 Buffalo Jonathan Luigs OC Arkansas 110 Buffalo Jonathan Casillas OLB43 Wisconsin 147 Buffalo Vance Walker DT43 Georgia Tech 183 Buffalo Otis Wiley SS Michigan State 220 Buffalo Worrell Williams ILB California Mock draft Using DraftTek's Online Simulator
  18. Actually, I like your trade better. We will need the 3rd Rounder for SS, OG, or (possibly) TE.
  19. It'll be a competition between Ko Simpson, Scott, Wilson and Chip Vaughn.
  20. Some Windex on your crystal balls will clear things up.
  21. Hello, all you NFL Draft Execs who avidly read TSW....You will need to get ahead of Denver's pick at #12 if you want a first round quarterback like Stafford and/or Sanchez. We're offering our #11 (1250 on the trade chart), and we'll even tell you what you have to give us: Carolina---Peppers straight up for our #11. We get our pass rush; you get rid of someone who wants out and get a QB. Detroit---your RD1#20 & RD2#33 (1430 pts) -- you'll get a REAL quarterback at #11 and our 3rd rounder (1465). St. Louis---We'll give you our #11 this year and next year's #1 for your RD1#2 this year. You get Stafford, we get Curry. Tampa Bay---Since you have no 2nd rounder, just give us Gaines Adams straight up. You'll have a QB for your good WR's. Seattle---We'll give you Parrish and our #11 for your RD1#4. We'll take Crabtree WR, Brown DE or Smith-Monroe OT. Philly---Give us your #28, your #53, and the middle of your three RD5 picks at #157 (1198 pts). You get Moreno/Sanchez. Kansas City----Gonzo plus your RD3#67 and you get your quarterback. Which one(s) do you pull the trigger on if you are the other team?
  22. Schobel has always been good at picking up garbage sacks. With an additional DT (draft), DE (draft), and an additional year's experience out of McKelvin yielding coverage sacks, this could happen.
  23. Here is the DraftTek Online Draft Simulation of your Trade: 21 Buffalo Brandon Pettigrew TE Oklahoma St 42 Buffalo Eric Wood OG Louisville 75 Buffalo Lawrence Sidbury Jr. DE43 Richmond 85 Buffalo Jonathan Luigs OC Arkansas 110 Buffalo Jonathan Casillas OLB43 Wisconsin 147 Buffalo Vance Walker DT43 Georgia Tech 183 Buffalo Otis Wiley SS Michigan State 220 Buffalo Marcus McClinton FS Kentucky I'd be really happy with this draft. It's damn near perfect, INHO.
  24. The link up there shows me that Scheffler could be a great TE pickup, especially if he could be had for a 3rd.
