  1. I'm okay with folks drafting position rather than the player. My job at DraftTek is to determine our positional needs. It has been extremely helpful to find out, for example, that if a strong LB is there at #9 you'd draft him, so I notified DraftTek that if McClain or Spikes drops to 9, then we'd grab them as well as a LT or QB. Another example is that TSW'ers would take TWO tackles in this draft, so I notified DraftTek about multiple LT's. Don't get too hung up on the accuracy of January mocks; use these simulations to gauge what you would do (or not do) in given situations. Have fun learning how you feel about that situation. As Ben and Jerry said, "If It's Not Fun, Why Do It"?
  2. My only reservation about Lamarr Houston is off-field issues. Suspended for one game after being arrested and charged with DWI in two-car accident (no injuries). He could room with Lynch...
  3. BTW, anybody surprised that Ben Tate hasn't been drafted yet? I think of him as this year's Rashard Mendenhall, and the Stillers ultimately did well with that pick. Mendenhall (drafted 23rd overall) fumbled often in preseason of 2008, but in week 4 of the 2009 season, Mendenhall started in place of an injured Willie Parker. Against the San Diego Chargers he jump started his NFL career by rushing for 165 yards and two touchdowns.
  4. If it is Frazier, these sentences from the link tell you what we'll see in offseason moves: "Frazier was a disciple of Jim Johnson's aggressive one-gap 4-3 scheme, which calls for a lot of outside linebacker, corner, and safety blitzes mixed with an agressive upfield push from the line. " "The stingiest rushing defense in football, allowing only 1,240 yards (3.3 ypc)" "a lot of this production comes from the monster DT team of Pat and Kevin Williams" "we see a pattern: young players bloom quickly, defenses get nasty, safety play is top-notch. " "His mission for 2008 was maintaing the defense's effectiveness against the run, while improving the pass defense. He did that, bringing in fearsome DE Jared Allen and mixing in more man-to-man coverage to maximize CB Antoine Winfield's considerable shutdown skills." ---In other words, we're not switching to a 3-4, Whitner's on the trade block, Byrd's in, McKelvin and McGee are safe, we'll obtain a FA or high draft pick blitzing OLB (or convert Maybin to one) and get another beefy DT like Stroud.
  5. We have two or three young, potentially good LT's on the roster. Why wouldn't we take a RT in Round 3? Are you happy with Chambers and Butler?

  7. This one's too close to call. I'd take D'Anthony Smith. Any more votes?
  8. He won't be there in RD4 at pick #104. The only way to do it would be to trade Lynch for a team needing a running back, and based on the positional needs of each team and the depth of this draft at RB, this is a bad year to do this. Plus there So you're back where you started: Needs at LT, QB, DE, DT, OLB and the urge to take a RB in RD3.
  9. Young provided protection for Brady Quinn as he surpassed 3,000 passing yards. Again. Powe is a sack o' lard whose low draft stock will show itself after he works out (or passes out) at the combine. Round 4-5 and going to a 3-4 team.
  10. When the Big Board is redone today, D'Anthony Smith ought to go up a round at least. He's the better of the DT's here. Oghobaase was a superior player on an inferior team.
  11. Good Thought. I wondered if there would be some "Young Love" out there! There's a guy named Veldheer who played Tackle at a tiny school --Hillsdale-- who'd still be there a round or two from now. http://www.draftcountdown.com/ScoutingRepo...ed-Veldheer.php http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZUoHh8gupE&NR=1 I also wonder if they'd think of moving Wood to Center and taking another guard.
  12. Thanks. I've eliminated him from the poll and notified my boss!

  14. McClain ILB, Fox LT, and now...Tony Pike. Round 4 tomorrow! Hook Em Horns!
  15. Patrick Willis and Brian Cushing. Rookies of the Year. Next.
  16. McCluster can certainly change a game. Some team (not Buffalo, I'm afraid) is going to draft McCluster for his change-of-pace, darting, hide-behind-the-beef style. Same with Tebow. The good teams (especially Cheaters with a multitude of picks) will be in a position to go after specialists like them. I wouldn't be surprised if the Pats* took both.
  17. We have Benn 69th on our list. He was high RD#1 before the season, then his 2009 totals dropped. Dogged by injuries and an inefficient offense, Benn had just 38 catches for 490 yards. His career yards at Illinois rank 5th at that school. Not a breakaway guy in the red zone; Two scores as a freshman, 3 scores as a sophomore, slightly above average kick returner. Good possession receiver, though, likely late second.
  18. I won't tell. The Simulator is using information that was updated yesterday, the 6th, during the day, and therefore didn't take the great game last night into account. By the next Big Board update, LeFevour will likely have leapfrogged Jevan Snead (and possibly Tony Pike...would you agree?
  19. I see a market for "CowherBells" at next year's Training Camp. Who'll fund me?

  21. And The Buffalo Bills take an LT in Round 2 of the Mock Draft game. Jason Fox of Miami is described as athletic, received a 96% grade from his coaches this year, and is big (6-6 314) and quick (5.04 40). Last year he allowed no sacks. He has RT experience prior to his Left Tackle position. RD#1: McClain ILB RD#2: Fox LT Tomorrow, you will see Tony Pike on the list of available players!
  22. I know something you don't know. Stay tuned!
  23. We have LeFevour going to the Rams with the first pick in RD#5, but that all could change tonight. Astro DraftTek Correspondent - Bills
