  1. This is DraftTek's Top 16 right now. DraftTek Big Board How many of them would you cheer for if the Bills called their name on Draft Day?
  2. Using your draft order, something like this would be a dream draft: RD1---LT--Bryan Bulaga Iowa RD2---NT--Terrence Cody Alabama RD3---QB--Tony Pike Cincinnati RD4---LB--Willie Young North Carolina State RD5---DE--Lindsey Witten ConnecticutWR RD6---WR--Blair White Michigan State RD7---FB--Dorin Dickerson Pittsburgh
  3. Tomorrow (SBSunday) I have to fill out the Bills' current thoughts on positional needs for DraftTek. A lot has happened since January--we hire a DC who sounds like he make changes to a 3-4 being the most significant. This does not diminish the needs on the offensive side of the ball but it might make our positional needs substantively different. But there's more than one way to skin a cat: Argument for QB, LT, ILB/DT, DE, then OLB---Okung will be gone by pick 9, and so will Clausen, McClain, and Suh/McCoy. Berry and Haden might push Bulaga down to us; it's too early to draft Iupati / Williams. Let's say that Oakland takes Bulaga, and Bradford has shown that his shoulder's okay. Take Bradford here, ILB next, and get bookend tackles later. Bradford has the familiarity with the pro style offense, and has a better TD to INT ratio than Clausen, already taken by Cleveland at 7. Take Selvish Capers LT or Eric Norwood ILB in Round 2. I like Lamarr Houston DT in the RD3 better than Sean Lee ILB. There are more good DT's later--Syracuse's Arthur Jones could be there (but don't count on it). Argument for DT or DE first---Dan Williams of Tennessee is a good 3-4 nose and certainly a value here, but Carlos Dunlap, Derrick Morgan, and Brandon Graham are all DE's worth a look, especially with the switch to the 3-4. I like Dunlap if we're definitely a base 3-4, but I like Morgan as a LDE if we're a hybrid. I watched Morgan have his way with Bulaga (who held a lot) in the Orange Bowl. I think we can find a good DT later than DE in this draft, even RD4 or 5, so I'd advise the DE position be addressed early if we don't think we have the player on the roster. Argument for BPA---Trade Lynch and draft C.J. Spiller, RB from Clemson. He'll be the best player in year 1 at our pick. The other choice may be WR Dez Bryant, but I expect Al Davis won't be able to resist at the pick before ours. Taking the BPA is always advocated, but it dilutes the quality at need positions as you wait until RD2 to begin addressing them. Argument for LT, then QB---Trent Williams of Oklahoma looks like he may be better at RT. Iupati is listed as a Guard, but many think capable of moving to LT. He played at Idaho, so the jury came in late on him. This approach, which we have pursued up to now, doesn't add new players to a 3-4 defense, so you have to keep that in mind.
  4. Something like this: 9 Buffalo Sam Bradford QB Oklahoma 41 Buffalo Eric Norwood ILB South Carolina 72 Buffalo Rodger Saffold OT Indiana 104 Buffalo Austen Lane DE43 Murray State 136 Buffalo Roddrick Muckelroy OLB43 Texas 168 Buffalo Vince Oghobaase DT43 Duke 200 Buffalo John Estes OC Hawaii This report was produced using Draft Tek's Draft Simulator: WWW.Drafttek.com.
  5. Just to add to the confusion, Seattle is talking about letting Haden drop as well. This means Oakland, whose main needs are OG and OT, and maybe DT, have a choice between following their head (Bulaga, Williams, maybe Iupati, maybe Dan Williams DT) or following Al Davis's behind and drafting Dez Bryant, the 6'2", 220 #1 WR. The Bills would have nice choices any way this turns out, but I get uneasy every time they talk about a CB of Haden's caliber falling. Well, Jauron's gone to Philly--what are the chances WE'd pick him?!?! I like the O-Line remaining our #1 priority, though.
  6. I've been clued in that the next DraftTek mock will have a change at RD1#4 that would drop 2 QB's into Cleveland's lap at RD1#7. The Redskin fans and their correspondent, who had been grabbing Bradford all along, are rethinking their pick, and will look for someone to protect him (Russell Okung). Now the scenario might be: 1 St Louis Ndamukong Suh DT43 Nebraska 2 Detroit Gerald McCoy DT43 Oklahoma 3 TBay Eric Berry FS Tennessee 4 Wash Russell Okung OT Oklahoma State 5 K City Rolando McClain ILB Alabama 6 Seattle Joe Haden CB Florida 7 Cleve Jimmy Clausen QB Notre Dame 8 Oak ? 9 Buffalo ? Now you know that Oakland likes the shiny players. Do they take Dez Bryant WR and leave us in the enviable position of choosing between the most NFL-ready quarterback (Bradford) and the draft's best run-blockers (Williams, Bulaga)? Would This Change Your Pick at 9? I need to know what the pulse is. Astro

  8. Irsay makes a very good point in his comments in the last paragraph. The key IS replaceability. Manning is not replaceable, so you pay him the big bucks, and that's being smart with your dollars. Was Peters replaceable? We'll find out soon. I hope.
  9. The Teerlink family. Hadn't thought of that one. Nice Choice if it is the 2 of them.
  10. When a team lacks talent, one should consider trade-downs to get 2 players. The Bills have done this a few times lately, and I think it's the right idea. If a player falls to #9 that other teams want, they should consider trading down. I read an article that McClain might be the player that falls to the Bills, and gives them an opportunity to trade. McClain would be hard to say "trade down" to. Other players I wouldn't trade down for? Maybe Okung, Derrick Morgan, and that's it. Other than them, I'd trade down.
  11. That would be, like, the Bills going for McGahee...
  12. I think you mean the WR that came up big in practices this week, Andre Roberts. Roberts was the most consistent route-runner of the day. He even made Jarrett Brown look good. He had to contort his body in midair on a wide slant route to catch his pass LOL. He's hard to bump at the line due to quick feet. Bob Rang and Chad Reuter say he's Top 100, and it's a deep draft for WR, so 4th Round is likely with his good week.
  13. I'd take Dekota Watson at OLB in that scenario in RD4, especially if we go 3-4. He makes great tackles, has a decent blitz ability, and occasionally plays down end, playing it with tenacity.
  14. This is a deep class for WR's, and our youngsters (Johnson/ Jenkins) deserve a look if the QB gets longer time to go through progressions. Say no to Shipley at RD2-3 and in Rounds 5-7 go for local guys (Naaman Roosevelt (Buffalo), Mike Williams (Syracuse), Pat Simonds (Colgate). Or see if Jacoby Ford (Clemson) lasts until Round 4. Others I like in mid-rounds include David Nelson (Florida), Taylor Price (Ohio) and Marcus Easley (UConn).
  15. Looks like you're looking for a DT or QB and maybe another O-Line Guy. But here's who are still there at RD5: Kavell Conner OLB43 Vince Oghobaase DT43 John Jerry OG Naaman Roosevelt WRF Buffalo Geno Atkins DT Mike Williams WRF Syracuse Ted Larsen OG Jamar Chaney ILB Mississippi State Dennis Pitta TE BYU Lindsey Witten OLB34 Connecticut Alex Carrington DE34 Arkansas State Colin Peek TE Alabama John Skelton QB Fordham
  16. Here is the list of DraftTek's Top 20 players right now. Notice Weatherspoon, Dan Williams, Brandon Graham (selected MVP of the Senior Bowl), Mike Iupati, Brian Price, Bruce Campbell, and Jermaine Gresham are not on the list (all just below). Ndamukong Suh Eric Berry Gerald McCoy -- some have McCoy 2nd, but I likethis order Russell Okung Jimmy Clausen -- not where I'd have him, but everyone has an opinion! Joe Haden Sam Bradford -- given there are no injuries at the combine physical C.J. Spiller Derrick Morgan Rolando McClain -- tenth on the board but 13 teams have need at ILB compared to 4 for RB Dez Bryant Carlos Dunlap Taylor Mays Trent Williams Everson Griffen Anthony Davis Golden Tate Earl Thomas Jonathan Dwyer Bryan Bulaga Our Big Board guy says about Weatherspoon: "There is concern among NFL scouts [about whether he can]] he maintain his weight in order to play inside (his weight dropped throughout the year at Mizzou) -- if so, that allows more flexibility as both ILB and OLB, but even at that, he would be ranked below McClain and Spikes at ILB. He is viewed as a 2nd round prospect by every reputable ranking, even after the Senior Bowl."
  17. [ end of thread and another prediction ]
  18. Hope you repair your broken "Enter" key soon...
  19. Could happen, but he'd likely be asked to bring along Brohm as well as one of the throw-on-the-run QB's Jarrett Brown or Zac Robinson in Round 4. It wouldn't be the other throw-on-the-run guy Colt McCoy (we'd need line help and giving up a draft pick to get Vick, so no 1st round QB unless a trade down to gain a pick).
  20. dribble, trickle. He's trying Pees.
