  1. RD1--Rolando McClain ILB or Anthony Davis LT? RD2--Brandon Spikes ILB or Terrence Cody DT? RD3--Rodger Saffold OG Indiana or Dan LeFevour QB? RD4--Jared Veldheer LT or Arthur Jones DT? RD5--Torrell Troup DT34 or Danario Alexander WR? RD6--Linval Joseph DE34 or Lindsey Witten OLB34? RD7--Marcus Easley WR Connecticut or Antonio Coleman OLB34 Auburn?
  2. This is a very deep draft for WR's, and there will be some real deals in RD4-6. Just say no to an early WR.
  3. I'll say Bulaga or Anthony Davis. Davis is the biggest guy, a punishing run blocker, and a resident of New Jersey. Bulaga is from Illinois, and the others are from fairweather states. OT 1 Russell Okung SR 6-5/300/- Oklahoma State Richmond, TX OT 2 Trent Williams SR 6-5/290/- Oklahoma Longview, TX OT 3 Anthony Davis JR 6-6/325/- Rutgers Piscataway, NJ OT 4 Bryan Bulaga JR 6-6/290/- Iowa Woodstock, IL OT 5 Charles Brown SR 6-6/295/- USC Pomona, CA
  4. 1) Sam Bradford QB - Yes, I think he'll fall to us b/c Cleveland or Washington will get McNabb; but I trade my pick to the Vikings for their RD2 and 3 in this scenario. They dearly want Dan Williams DT, and I assure myself of Spikes and LeFevour in addition to my 2nd rounder (Jon Asamoah LT?) and 3rd Rounder (Terrence Cody DT). 2) Brandon Spikes OLB34 - Yes I think precombine drafts will have Spikes lasting this long, but he'll go before our RD2. 3) Eric Norwood ILB - Love this pick. This guy is the real deal and would look good next to Poz. 4) Jared Veldheer OT - This is the high potential pick with some risk, but he's immense, strong, and has leverage. 5) Torrell Troup DT34 - Very good pick for nose. I'm thinking you rotate Williams-Troup in the middle, or get Wilfork-Troup 6) Vince Oghobaase DE34 - Better as a 4-3 DT, but we're moving Stroud to DE, so... 6) Andrew Quarless TE - Okay pick.I like our TE's, especially Nelson. Quarless is an improving blocker and a 6'5" receiver. 7) Reggie Carter LB (but Dtek lists as QB??)- Good catch! He's a LB, and a good pick this late given our switch to 3-4. Have notified DTek about the misprint.
  5. That is correct. In the recent ESPN passing contest, for distance, Snead missed the FIELD. Not the target. The FIELD. Putting it in the rough is sometimes excusable in golf, not football.
  6. I wouldn't take Campbell that early in RD#1. After the combine, he will be the 3rd at his position. Wootten is a good pick in the second, and that's about it.
  7. Which drops Bradford or Clausen to us.
  8. I'd make the push for Wilfork so I could concentrate on Bulaga - Spikes in RD1 and RD2.. The draft IS deep on DT's but mainly 4-3 DT's. If we think that a later DT (Geno Atkins, Vince Oghobaase) could man a 3-4, then fine, but I don't see how we solve a LT problem by being distracted by the NT's in RD#1.
  9. "Tough, physical, smart" football players I'd like to see: RD1: Bulaga LT, or slide down and take Iupati LG/LT, or trade Lynch to Vikes for their #30 and take Dan Williams NT RD2: Cody, or Spikes ILB (tough and physical; jury's out on "smart") RD3: Norwood OLB (comparisons to James Harrison), John Jerry OG RD4-Ben Tate RB - Bruiser is the straight ahead guy who won't go down. A Bettis, Or Garrett Graham TE at Wisconsin. RD5- Brandon Carter OG - Carter's the "Big Nasty" Nix keeps talking about. Hey--Incognito and Carter can be roomies RD6- Zac Robinson QB - McNabb can tutor this mobile guy RD7- Reggie Carter ILB - UCLA's leading tackler slides to here due to injury RD7- Lee Ziemba OG - Handled Wootton easily in the Outback Bowl
  10. Important last line: "commanding an offensive line anchored by NFL prospect Roger Saffold. " Saffold is in DraftTek's mock at #97, 4th Round, going to the Lions.
  11. From our DraftTek Packers GM: Would you do this deal for our second rounder? I'd do it in an instant, take LT (Bulaga-Davis) in round one, and QB in the 3rd: 3 72 Buffalo Tony Pike QB Cincinnati 4 104 Buffalo Kyle Calloway OT Iowa 4 121 Buffalo Ben Tate RBF Auburn 5 136 Buffalo Torrell Troup DT 3-4 Central Florida 6 168 Buffalo Sergio Render OG Virginia Tech 7 182 Buffalo Danny Batten OLB34 S. Dakota State Would anybody NOT trade for AJ Hawk? Astro
  12. Very much on board with a Bulaga pick. I think Clausen goes 5th to KC and Bradford 7th to Cleveland, and Bradford (if we take Bulaga) starts a Leinart-like freefall.
  13. Buddy said that arm strength is his yardstick for measuring NFL quarterbacks. LeFevour is definitely in the mix. Here are the yardage leaders for career. Keep in mind there are differences in length of playing time, though. 1 Colt McCoy, Texas 13253 (spread offense) 2 Case Keenum, Houston 12950 (spread offense) 3 Dan LeFevour, Central Mich. 12905 (spread offense) 4 Max Hall, BYU 11365 (spread offense) 5 Tim Hiller, Western Mich. 11329 (variation of the spread) 6 Todd Reesing, Kansas 11194 (spread offense) Tebow is 12th on this list (Spread option), Bradford 14th (operates from center a fair bit; but base set is a spread set). Watch Case Keenum. He's the leader in yards per game (323.8 yards per game average) with a passing efficiency of 155.47. That's from a spread offense. Zac Robinson in the 5th is also a possibility. They ran a spread at OSU. http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/2009/Internet/car...eerPassB14.html
  14. Darryl Talley can coach the linebackers. Man I loved his passion for the game.
  15. Methinks they hired one just for Maybin. Just consider: the Redskins got Romanowski today.
  16. Draft Post of the Month. Outstanding ! A low round pick at RB could be Ben Tate or LeGarrette Blount in the 4th, or how about Buffalo's Randy Starks in RD5?
  17. I'm killing time until the Syracuse game at 2 EST, and this looks like a good game, so here goes: Best available at our pick, so not Suh, McCoy, Okung in Round 1! (DT's are 3-4 Nose Tackles, not 4-3 DT's) Round 1 Best DT--Dan Williams, Tennessee (#17 on our board) Best LB--Rolando McClain ILB (#6 on our board) Best O-Line--Bryan Bulaga (#10) Round 2 Best DT--Terrence Cody, Alabama (#49) with Jenny Craig Best LB--(tie IMHO) Brandon Spikes (#39), Eric Norwood (#84) Best O-Line--Jon Asamoah (#58) --but he's likely a Guard--so Selvish Capers LT (#97) Round 3 Best DT--Cam Thomas (#102) Best LB--Sean Lee (#77)or George Selvie (#103) Best O-Line--(tie IMHO) Rodger Saffold LT (#94), or Jared Veldheer LT (#106) Looking at it this way, I like the LT-LB-DT option slightly more than the DT-LB-LT option. I hate the choices for LB in RD3. If we haven't picked at LB by RD3, it'll be Rennie Curran / Willie Young in Round 4.
  18. Totally missed them (must stop preparing for the Super Bowl). We have Cam Thomas #99, so available in 4th Round, and Torrel Troup a UDFA. Given those choices, though, I'd still go FA. RD1-Brian Bulaga LT - likely the best run-blocker RD2-Rennie Curran OLB - #1 3-4 OLB by NFLDraftScout 6'4" 248 best built, fastest with Curran and 'Spoon RD3-Jon Asamoah OG - you want beef? 6'6" 325... held his own vs Odrick this year RD3 -Dexter McCluster WR - Roscoe's replacement will be multifunctional; Gailey will use him right RD4- O'Brien Schofield OLB - Wishing here that the defensive MVP slides to here. RD5-Brandon Carter OG - Carter's the "Big Nasty" Nix is talking about. Incognito and Carter can be roomies RD6- Ben Tate RB - Bruiser is the straight ahead guy who won't go down. Bettis. RD7- Reggie Carter ILB - UCLA's leading tackler slides to here due to injury RD7- Take your favorite backup NT here
  19. I knew I forgot something LOL! This is a terrible draft to grab a Nose Tackle. Here's the bad news. This is a list of ALL the NT's in this draft, and their rank on our big board. You've prbably heard of 2; I've heard of 5: RD1. Dan Williams, Tennessee (#17 on our big board) RD2. Terrence Cody, Alabama (#49 on our big board) --- RD2: Pat Williams II...You just hope the trainer can help. RD6. Linval Joseph (#194) RD7. Al Woods LSU (#287) FA. Boo Robinson (#324) FA. Travis Ivey (#329) FA. Martin Tevaseu (#345) FA. Jaron Baston (#355) The moral of this story is we have to use Stroud/Kyle Williams, or go get Wilfork.
  20. Buddy Nix has said he wants "tough big nasties". My "All-Beef Draft" would send Cincinnati Roscoe and Donte (both P2 needs of theirs) in return for a RD3 #84. We keep Brohm, sign Pennington, and keep Fitz. I'm assuming 1 compensatory pick, a 7th at worst. RD1-Brian Bulaga LT - likely the best run-blocker RD2-Rennie Curran OLB - #1 3-4 OLB by NFLDraftScout 6'4" 248 best built, fastest with 'Spoon RD3-Jon Asamoah OG - you want beef? 6'6" 325... held his own vs Odrick this year RD3 -Dexter McCluster WR - Roscoe's replacement will be multifunctional; Gailey will use him right RD4- O'Brien Schofield OLB - Wishing here that the defensive MVP slides to here. RD5-Brandon Carter OG - Carter's the "Big Nasty" Nix is talking about. Incognito and Carter can be roomies RD6- Ben Tate RB - Bruiser is the straight ahead guy who won't go down. Bettis. RD7- Reggie Carter ILB - UCLA's leading tackler slides to here due to injury RD7- Lee Ziemba OG - Handled Wootton easily in the Outback Bowl
  21. I checked with the position At first I thought, "no way McClain falls to us". Then I looked at the positional needs of the other correspondents above our pick. They update these weekly: Here Ari, Cinn, Balt, Denv, KC, Mia, NE, NYG, Philly, StL all want a ILB at a P1, P2 or P3 level this year. However, only 2 draft above us---Rams and Chiefs. StL will likely take Suh (although DE is their P1 Need). KC has P3 (they aren't putting P1 or P2 for anyone) for OG, OC, DT, SS, and ILB. Therefore, their likely available choices at pick 7 (besides Clausen): OG Bryan Bulaga (#10 on our board) or Mike Iupati (#15 on our board)--could rise up thru combine results OC Not Yet; Pouncey is #40 on our board DT Suh or McCoy, but we have them going 1 & 2; maybe Dan Williams but he's #17 on our board SS Eric Berry (#2 on our board) , but he's more of a free safety and we have him going to TBay at #3 ILB Rolando McClain (#6 on our board) So hold out hope that Bulaga or Iupati have a dynamite combine, or that Eric Berry falls.
  22. So, you'd be happy with, say, 1-Dan Williams DT34 Tennessee 2-Eric Norwood ILB South Carolina (or Brandon Spikes) 3-Rodger Saffold OT Indiana (or Tony Pike) 4-Jarrett Brown QB West Virginia if there was no QB named Clausen/Bradford available at 9?
  23. I actually would like to take a WR in this draft, as I have polled my fellow correspondents and looked at their positional needs, and WR is low on most teams' needs lists. Here is one WR from each round after RD2 that I would love to see in a Bills uni (subject to combine results, of course): RD3-Jordan Shipley Texas RD4-Mike Williams Syracuse RD5-Danario Alexander Missouri (possession receiver), Shay Hodge Mississippi (featured) RD6-Blair White Michigan State RD7-Marcus Easley Connecticut
