  1. Haslam from Rutgers is an interesting pick, particularly if we took Davis from Rutgers first. Haslam is versatile, having played RT and RG. He's a New Jersey guy, trains with Davis and hangs out with him, not invited to the combine (the guy can jump 30", great for a 300 pounder). He leaves the Orlando training facility today to go back up to Rutgers. Rutgers will be broadcasting the team's Pro Day on ScarletKnights.com March 10 at 2:00.
  2. I think Leevour is going to do best in a West Coast offense, and in a city where he can develop for 2 years under an established veteran. We'll see where he ends up. Interesting that LeFevour was a running back in high school. You have to like that level of toughness.

  4. In my sig line, I draft Cam Thomas in the 2nd, but in several mocks he goes in the 3rd.
  5. Effort questions...Inarticulate...motivation quesitons...not measuring up to potential... This sounds like either weed or --even worse-- He's 20.
  6. I thought it'd be fun to pose two different picks in each round for the Bills, then give reasons for which one I'd be picking. Most of the rounds here use the DraftTek ODS for one potential pick in each round. RD1. Anthony Davis OT Rutgers or Bryan Bulaga OT Iowa? ----------> Bulaga. His lunch-pail mentality, NFL-readiness, and run-pass balance outweighs Davis's upside/fuzziness. RD2. Brandon Spikes ILB Florida or Terrence Cody DT34 Alabama? ----------> Spikes. Bills are switching to the 3-4 and need a general. Plus I've seen Cody naked LOL! RD3. Cam Thomas DT34 North Carolina or Dan LeFevour QB Central Michigan? ----------> Thomas. Focus on building the lines in the draft, and maybe already-3rdRD QB's Brohm and Edwards show up. RD4. Jarrett Brown QB West Virginia or Kyle Calloway OT Iowa? ----------> Calloway. The Bills need two tackles from this draft; why not Iowa bookends? RD5. Arthur Jones DE34 Syracuse or Jevan Snead QB Mississippi? ----------> Jones. There are only 2 NFL QB's in this draft, and the Bills need a 3-4 DE if Maybin becomes a OLB. RD6. O'Brien Schofield OLB34 Wisconsin or Blair White WRF Michigan State? ----------> White. T.O. won't be here, and the Bills don't have a bona fide 1-2-3 punch at WR. White will impress. The Bills have 3 more picks in RD6-7, and I'd like one more at OT, OLB34, and WR. Would like to see others have different names, or different opinions.
  7. Bulaga is probably the pick here, but Davis is a close 2nd. They each have their appeal (Davis possibly more upside, bigger wingspan, great run-blocking, Northern roots--NJ? Bulaga more LT-ready right now, best run-pass hybrid) . Other teams may move up for Bulaga, hence it's good to look at the bright side. We get a good player either way.
  8. 2009 Draft Rd Sel Player Pos School Team/Result 1 2 Jason Smith OT Baylor Rams / Back-up 1 6 Andre Smith OT Alabama Bengals / Back-up 1 8 Eugene Monroe OT Virginia Jaguars / Starter 1 21 Alex Mack OC California Browns / Starter 1 23 Michael Oher OT Mississippi Ravens / Starter 1 28 Eric Wood OC Louisville Bills / Starter 2 39 Eben Britton OT Arizona Jaguars / Starter 2 49 Max Unger OT Oregon Seahawks / Starter 2 51 Andy Levitre OG Oregon State Bills / Starter 2 54 Phil Loadholt OT Oklahoma Vikings / Starter 2 58 Sebastian Vollmer OT Houston Patriots / Back-up 2 60 William Beatty OT Connecticut Giants / Back-up 3 75 Robert Brewster OT Ball State Cowboys / Injured 3 77 Antoine Caldwell OC Alabama Texans / Back-up 3 78 Louis Vasquez OG Texas Tech Chargers / Starter 3 79 Kraig Urbik OT Wisconsin Steelers / Back-up 9 Starters, 1 Injured, 6 Backups. At LT, First Round, 3 of the 5 were Starters in their first year. At LT, 2nd Round, 3 of the 5 were Starters in their first year. After that round, none was a starter. Astro
  9. DraftTek's Big Board guy weighs in on the DE/OLB crop this year. Thanks to Longball at DraftTek for his permission to quote these.
  10. Or two each. 1-Bulaga LT "Iowa1" 2-Cam NT 3-Lefevour QB 4-Calloway OT "Iowa2" 5-Linval Joseph NT 6-Zac Robinson QB Done. No Prob.
  11. FOR OUR SCHEME: BEST LDE - Derrick Morgan BEST NT - Dan Williams - Possibly a better run-stopper and space eater than Suh. Suh's footwork needs work. BEST RDE - Brandon Graham BEST SAM LB - AJ Edds, not Sergio Kindle. BEST MIKE LB - Rolando McClain, with Spikes a closer 2nd than the board will be willing to admit, followed by Norwood BEST WILL LB - Sean Weatherspoon
  12. http://tisdelstirades.blogspot.com/ This is totally worth a read if you are thinking of any pick other than LT in the first round. Astro
  13. When a player is worth exactly a quarter of his former self, Wilson Farms them out. This year, Wilson Farms plans to release the following quarters: Terrell Owens, Ryan Denney, Trent Edwards, Roscoe Parrish, and Chris Kelsey. Collect the whole set.
  14. I like the McNeil from SD option. SD's biggest needs are RB, RT, a 3-4 DE, and an ILB. Would you trade spots with SD in RD#1 for McNeil? Let's say they would like to move up to grab either Trent Williams or Charles Brown. We get McNeil and their #28 pick, and, with the 28th pick, I'd take Jared Odrick DE 3-4. I'd then take Selvish Capers OT in RD2 and Dan LeFevour QB in RD3. My plan B is to take LeFevour QB in RD2 and Kyle Calloway OT in RD3. The goal would be to acquire McNeil-Odrick-Calloway-LeFevour or McNeil-Odrick--Capers-LeFevour.
  15. The word from my buds down at DraftTek:
  16. I find "whining slaves" to be derogatory.
  17. There may not be make-a-difference tackles past the 2nd round. There may not be any make-a-difference quarterbacks past the 7th pick. There will be make-a-difference receivers in this draft into the 5th round.
  18. No tackle in this draft is of the Joe Thomas or Jake Long caliber.
  19. There aren't many in the drfat who will have a seamless transition to their position, but I believe that in that first echelon of 16 players, the 8 who will succeed earliest are Suh at DT McClain at ILB Berry at CB or FS or SS McCoy at DT 4-3 Okung at OT/OG McClain LB Spiller RB Bulaga OT/OG It's easier for the defensive players, particularly DT's and LB's to make a difference as rookies. Witness Patrick Willis or Brian Cushing. By week 6, Clay Matthews was Rookie of the Week, and he made it again in Week 10. However, don't discount the quarterbacks making a big splash early. The Pepsi Rookie of the Week for the first 3 weeks was Mark Sanchez--I might add his o-line was intact. WR's could also be on this list, but I expect turmoil from Dez Bryant, and have Golden Tate ranked higher (but not in the top 8). I'm not putting the QB's on my list because they'll all need seasoning;
  20. For a while there, I thought we had released a Left Tackle off our own squad. Just say no to LaDanian.
  21. Meredith, too. I like his chances, as well. He's strong, quick, and can move inside if need be.
  22. Good Call. Carasik has him going to Cleveland at #39 (we draft at #41). A draft like this still gets us what we need: 1- Bulaga LT 2- (with a 6th) Williams RT 3- Norwood ILB 4- Austen Lane DE 5- Cam Thomas NT 6- Traded to move up for Williams 6- Lindsey Witten OLB34 or Cameron Sheffield OLB34 7- Blair White WR 7-Chris Marinelli OT
  23. Two sixths and two sevenths by his draft. You get an a+ for even having heard of Udofia! He should really go to the Eagles and get the nickname of Phil. Phil Udolfia.
