  1. Former Bears quarterback Rex Grossman has signed with the Redskins. http://tinyurl.com/ykobjez
  2. I think Seattle now uses their first rounder on a receiver for Whitehurst, Dez Bryant.
  3. I'm a stats guy. Me love the draft because it's Stats-A-Rama. What class is this for? What's your teacher's 40 time?
  4. If IND stayed put I think they get Jared Odrick or Brian Price. So, No.
  5. Now I'm wondering with our recent signing. But He's 31. With NT, LT, and QB's gone, you make this pick--or McClain...
  6. Agree I think Saffold is the real deal where I dunno about Davis/Williams. I like Brown, though. I just saw a draft that had us taking Trent Williams, then Cody, then Jermaine Cunningham.
  7. After reading all that Saban stuff, I'll go with this draft: (I'm assuming all LT's we like are taken, Bradford and Clausen are taken) 1-Brandon Graham OLB34 Michigan---no one is better at the outside blitz--better player for 3-4 than McClain here 2-Rodger Saffold OT Indiana---the only guy he had trouble with this year was our #1 pick! 3-Cam Thomas DT34 North Carolina---Gum up the middle. Nose is important 4-Mike Neal DE34 Purdue---brute strength and quick first step, great in Shrine game 5-Pat Angerer ILB Iowa---led team in tackles, 2nd in Big10 in INT's 6-Derek Hardman OT Eastern Kentucky---46 consecutive starts at tackle (RT then LT) 6-Blair White WRF Michigan State----best in the business of sideline catches 7-Nate Byham TE Pittsburgh----all-Big East tight end last season - one scouting service had him #1TE 7-Chris Marinelli OT Stanford----his line led the Pac-10 in fewest sacks allowed, has experience at OG too
  8. I have no problem taking any of the tackles mentioned. In fact, I want two tackles in this draft. If I had to choose right now, I'd take Bryan Bulaga in RD1 and his Iowa RT Kyle Calloway in RD4.
  9. Here is the Buffalo Bills BPA Draft I just did on the simulator at DraftTek. I took the BPA regardless of position: 1-Derrick Morgan DE---Oh, you didn't want a 4-3 DE? He was the BPA! 2-Aaron Hernandez TE---Well, maybe he and S Nelson would be our starters...still no LT though 3-Morgan Burnett SS Georgia Tech---Maybe we go to a 3-2-6 defense...still no LT 4-Jeremy Williams WRF Tulane or Joe McKnight RB (tie)...they can run 2.5 second plays before our QB (whoever) falls 5-Tony Moeaki TE Iowa---Oooh! Now I have 3 TE's. Hope they can block... 6-Rashawn Jackson FB Virginia---Finally! Someone who can block! Could use a real LT or a NT, though... 6-Rahim Alem OLB34 LSU---Okay. A need and BPA... 7-Freddie Barnes WRF Bowling Green---Decent WR, but we're down to the 3rd string QB by midseason... 7-Marcus Easley WRF Connecticut---See above I don't particularly care if we go BPA after the first 5 rounds, but until then, we had better have a NT, LT, and OLB who can play before Saturday of draft weekend...
  10. Fully agree. Jerry Hughes had a great combine and looked so fluid in LB drills that we decided to move him to our OLB34 list altogether as I think it’s a virtual lock that he winds up in a 3-4 OLB role, not a DE 4-3 role. Hughes will be better than Kindle, as Hughes' run defense is superior. He's probably the 2nd best OLB in the draft (Weatherspoon will end up #24-25 to Baltimore or Philly) and would make a great pick in RD2 for the Bills.
  11. Yes, totally agree. Here's where we have them going: 1 14 Seattle Charles Brown OT (after Bills in RD1) 2 36 Kansas City Vladimir Ducasse OG (before Bills in RD2) 2 56 Green Bay Selvish Capers OT (after Bills in RD2) 2 59 Dallas Rodger Saffold OT (after Bills in RD2) We have Capers now ranked 98th and falling, so that's a major reach for GBay, who may realize this and draft OT in RD1 instead--actually removing one more OT available by RD2. From beandog at DraftTek, just after the combine: Russell Okung came away from the combine as the clear cut number one tackle after measuring in at 6’5” 307 with extremely long 36” arms and 38 reps. All that to go along with his good game tape and nasty demeanor makes him a top 5 prospect. Bryan Bulaga also had a good showing at the combine, particularly showing his arms were plenty long enough to play outside. Trent Williams showed surprising athleticism, causing many teams to rethink the consensus that he is a pure RT. Bruce Campbell was the star of the combine after showing freakish athleticism but he is very inconsistent and looks like a mid rounder on the field but someone will draft him high because of his potential. Anthony Davis on the other hand may have had the worst combine. He affirmed the notion that he has little work ethic by showing up flabby and performing poorly in all the drills. He is a little inconsistent on film and may be better suited at RT on the next level so he could fall into the teens without a strong pro day. Charles Brown weighed in bigger than expected at the combine and is potentially the top Zone Blocking Scheme lineman so he could hear his name in the first round but is likely to go within the first 10 picks of the second because of his ability to play LT. Rodger Saffold is a guy that continues to prove his doubters wrong and although his best fit may be inside, he has the tape and post-season workouts to justify getting looks at tackle. Jared Veldheer is another one of those small school guys that people are falling in love with that will likely be over-drafted due to hype and potential. Jason Fox, Kyle Calloway, Ciron Black and Selvish Capers all were highly regarded in college that have their strengths and weaknesses but should all come off the board in the middle rounds. Tony Washington and Derek Hardman are two other small school sleepers that are bound to get looks on potential Ed Wang, Chris Scott, Sam Young, and Adam Ulatowski are all late round swing tackles. Tyler Eastman and James Williams are two small school guys from New England that had impressive college careers that have starting potential if given time to develop. Sleeper: Paul Jasinowki, Brown (UDFA) – A bit undersized, Jasinowski comes in at 6’5” 285 pounds but he has the room on his frame to bulk up into the 300 pound range. Jasinowski was the leader of a Brown offensive line that gave up only 7 sacks this year. A two time unanimous All-Ivy League, and second team Academic All-American selection, he was recruited by some bigger schools out of high school (Boston College, Duke, Maryland) but chose Brown because of its academic prowess. Has good feet and agility and has the athletic ability to play in a zone blocking scheme but could also bulk up and play in a power run game as well.
  12. I think these three affect us the most: 1) Delhomme to CLE 2) Kennedy to MIN 3) KC Signs Thomas Jones to KC - RBF priority from 4 to 9 Cleveland's signing of Delhomme, Watson, and Fujita could signal that CLE is not going for QB until next year and Clausen falls to us. It also signals that Eric Berry is a more likely CLE pick than a week ago, and the signing of Fujita ILB means that it's less likely that they take McClain with their first pick. Result? Clausen and/or McClain fall to the Bills. Kennedy going to MIN means that their #62 pick might now be negotiable (that's where we had MIN taking Brian Price; I still think they will target Jermaine Gresham TE in the first round. KC won't be drafting Spiller in the first round with the signing of Thomas Jones, so I think Spiller is also there where we pick. I don't think an OT in RD2 would be good value for KC or the Bills, so KC may likely take their LT in RD1 (Okung/Campbell) and spoil our party there. Other Signings/Trades and Their Possible Implications: CLE now likely they pass on Hernandez in RD2 (Hernandez may now fall to NE*) IND signs Adam Terry - Needs reshuffled now that OT is deprioritized; will now likely take DE in RD1--Griffen or Wootton BUF signs Joe Klopfenstien - TE priority from 5 to 6; now likely no TE in RD5 (Moeaki, Pitta, Peek, Dickerson) NYJ signs FS Brodney Pool - FS priority from 2 to 3; Earl Thomas FS more and more looks like he'll end up in New Orleans PIT signs Ryan Clark - FS priority from 3 to 4; same result --Thomas to New Orleans PHI signs Marlin Jackson - FS priority from 1 to 3; same result --Thomas to New Orleans CIN signs Roy Williams (the safety); same result --Thomas to New Orleans CIN signs Antonio Bryant - WR priority from 2 to 4; CIN won't go with McCluster in RD2, may like to deal this pick BAL signs Derrick Mason - WR priority from 6 to 9; they have such few picks they need DE in RD1--Odrick? MIN signs Benny Sapp - CB priority from 2 to 3; likely to go offense and take OG Iupati but could go Griffen or Thomas ATL and DET swap 5th round picks/ATL gets DET 6th Rounder - Chris Houston trade: ATL gets CB in RD6 (Ross,Wall) - DET takes DT early (Suh RD1), then RB (Best, Hardesty RD2), OG (Jerry/Asamoah/Johnson RD3), OT (Fox RD4), SS(Chancellor RD5) HOU signs OT Wade Smith: May drop a OT to us in RD3 but unlikely Signings unlikely affecting the Bills: ARI signs OG Rex Hadnot TEN signs CB Rod Hood IND signs OG Andy Alleman Astro
  13. I went back to the sources on the Williams drafting. One had already changed his pick for us to Bruce Campbell LT --the one the Raiders are supposedly interested in who put up great numbers at the combine. They say, "In a division that features Rex Ryan’s defense, Bill Belichick‘s Patriots , and now Mike Nolan coaching up the Dolphins Defense the Bills will have to create a impenetrable wall around the quarterback, before they can even think about drafting another quarterback." Another was for Trent Williams and is sticking with it. And the third has already switched to CJ Spiller! As the maharishi says, "A sample of the river is not the river." I think the Okung pick for the Bills is ignorance, but one can dream of taking the best LT at #9...
  14. If that's the scenario, I'm looking at Clausen, McClain, and Dan Williams.
  15. I think Spikes goes to Oakland right before our #41 pick, and here's who's on the board at need positions when we draft RD#2: Colt McCoy QB Texas Jerry Hughes DE43 TCU Brandon LaFell WRF LSU Aaron Hernandez TE Florida Rodger Saffold OT Indiana Damian Williams WRF USC Daryl Washington ILB TCU Arrelious Benn WRF Illinois Demaryius Thomas WRP Georgia Tech Jason Worilds OLB34 Virginia Tech Dexter McCluster WRS Mississippi Selvish Capers OT West Virginia Tim Tebow QB Florida Rodger Saffold OT Indiana Terrence Cody DT34 Alabama Comparing these possibilities to their order on our Big Board, the best Value Picks are Aaron Hernandez and Dexter McCluster, and the biggest Reach is Selvish Capers. Flame Away.
  16. We have McClain going early despite the Crohn's Disease--to KC at 5. Of the 285 drafts I listed, only 68 have McClain going before we pick, or 23%. He's likely there if you want him.
  17. We still have him going to Buffalo, but if we don't take him, Seattle might take him, although Charles Brown is the best zone blocker and they zone block a lot. After that, it's GBay at 23, yes.
  18. Bulaga has fallen sharply, and 161 sites have us taking a QB withour first pick. Okung falling to us is preposterous, but anything is possible, I guess. Call it March Madness. 19. If Bradford and Clausen go before #9, I'd recommend building both lines and LB and try it the Jets way.
  20. Nix: "Polar bears are hard to find." Modrak: "A polar bear would be good value after Suh and McCoy come off the board." Gailey: "If we sign a polar bear, we'll play off his strengths."
  21. I like this draft a B-, I would say. I assume no trade-down in the first, I assume you use Poz and Spikes in the middle, and I assume you think Linval Joseph wouldn't last until RD4. Love Tate, and think when this happens with live bullets, Tate will be the 3rd Rounder and Joseph will be 3rd Round as well. Very good job. You now need to get your OLB and explain what pick you got for Marshawn.
  22. Heaven Help Us. We have Trent Williams going at TWENTY to Houston because they need a Guard. A Guard! I we take Trent Williams to fill our Left Tackle problem, and do it at NINE, I'm done. The guy would trip on the way into Medaille Hall at the first mini-camp at Fisher.
