  1. Seriously! The best running back, the strongest run-plugging NT, and the biggest best run defending DE who's also a decent pass rusher. Carrington was Sun Belt POY with 9 sacks (#1 in his conference), 146 career tackles, and 21.5 sacks.
  2. I agree. Some NT's are penetrators, and some plug up the middle, occupying blockers, and that's Troup. Best NT in the draft for this purpose, and that's what the Bills want---strong middle presence that will gum things up.
  3. Interesting note about Karim. Nix does want his water bug, even a 210 pound one! Tony Washington has done his time with no further incidents, and he has first-round talent. We need multiple tackles to compete, and Saffold-Washington is pretty good talent. Love the Jerry Hughes pick, and love Jordan Shipley. Not in a Biblical way.
  4. Found the emoticons, I see. Pass rush and QB protection will be the watchwords of this draft. They may not take a QB early, but they will do a better job of Pass rush and QB protection this season. You'll see some big nasty rush blocking, some spread, and some attack blitzing. This guy http://bleacherreport.com/articles/380119-...-2009-nfl-draft thinks we trade up for Okung at #4. Well, that'd be QB protection and big nasty rush blocking for Jackson. That would simulate like this: 4 Buffalo Russell Okung OT Oklahoma State 72 Buffalo Brandon LaFell WRF LSU 107 Buffalo Torrell Troup NT Central Florida 140 Buffalo Lindsey Witten OLB34 Connecticut 178 Buffalo Zac Robinson QB Oklahoma State 192 Buffalo Lonyae Miller RB Fresno State 209 Buffalo John Fletcher DE34 Wyoming 216 Buffalo Joe Hawley OC UNLV
  5. Good Job. While I wouldn't think Clausen would fall past Seattle I do think this would be a good trade year. I like all of your picks; Olsen isn't my favorite line guy though. I like Chris DeGeare OG over Deji Karim, late, and maybe Chris Scott of Tennessee OT as my late picks. But I'd give the draft an A+ if this is what happened!
  6. Edited DraftTek Simulation of Bills trade Lynch for Lions' RD3#66. 9 Buffalo Trent Williams OT Oklahoma 41 Buffalo Colt McCoy QB Texas 66 Buffalo Cam Thomas NT North Carolina 72 Buffalo Ben Tate RB Auburn 107 Buffalo Mardy Gilyard WR Cincinnati 140 Buffalo Linval Joseph DE34 East Carolina 178 Buffalo George Selvie OLB34 South Florida 192 Buffalo Travis Ivey NT Maryland 209 Buffalo Chris Scott OT Tennessee 216 Buffalo Chris DeGeare OG Wake Forest
  7. Optimized draft with the above positional needs and the grab on Clausen: 1 9 Buffalo Jimmy Clausen QB Notre Dame 2 41 Buffalo Rodger Saffold LT Indiana 3 72 Buffalo Cam Thomas NT North Carolina 4 107 Buffalo Brandon Lang OLB34 Troy 5 140 Buffalo Jason Fox RT Miami 6 178 Buffalo Jordan Shipley WR Texas 6 192 Buffalo Micah Johnson ILB Kentucky 7 209 Buffalo John Fletcher DE34 Wyoming 7 216 Buffalo Dexter Davis OLB34 Arizona State
  8. In DraftTek's simulator, I put your trade in with none of our analysts' grabs or lockouts. 24 Buffalo Anthony Davis OT Rutgers 37 Buffalo Terrence Cody DT34 Alabama (Colt McCoy also there) 55 Buffalo Alex Carrington DE34 Arkansas State 72 Buffalo Jermaine Cunningham OLB34 Florida (Donald Butler also there) 107 Buffalo Jarrett Brown QB West Virginia 140 Buffalo Eric Olsen OC Notre Dame 178 Buffalo LeGarrette Blount RBF Oregon 192 Buffalo Micah Johnson ILB Kentucky 209 Buffalo Chris DeGeare OG Wake Forest 216 Buffalo Tony Washington OT Abilene Christian
  9. The feeling around here is that Green or Bell will be the RT, so I'll keep the Multiple on, but elevate the LT position to P1. I will raise WR to P3 to get a midround WR. Yes, and the simulator is fun to use. Make your changes (draft order, trade, Grab player, Lockout player), then hit Proceed until you see the results of your scenario. http://drafttek.com/new%20simulator/ Positional Needs for the final mock: QB---P5 / Grab Clausen RD1 if available, else OT (won't reach if a P2 pick is closerto BPA) RB---P5 WR---P3 OT---P1 Multiple P5 (OT after Round 4) OG---P4 TE---P6 OC---P5 NT---P2 DE---P3 OLB--P2 ILB---P2 All other positions P9
  10. I'm comfortable with dropping the "Multiple" designation for OT. It's possible that another one falls to us in later rounds because it's a deep position. I can name 6th rounders who could make most NFL rosters. I'm also comfy with making our DE need a P3 and our LB's both P2's...In the event a LT and a NT and a ILB are there when the computer picks, it first checks for our priorities (all P2), then takes the BPA from our Big Board http://drafttek.com/2010players.asp In summary, our new Positional Needs for the final mock: QB---P5 / Grab Clausen RB---P5 WR---P4 OT---P2 Multiple P5 (OT after Round 4) OG---P4 TE---P6 OC---P5 NT---P2 DE---P3 OLB--P2 ILB---P2 All other positions P9 I'll keep checking comments up until 9pm EST tomorrow night. Thanks for your input thus far...Astro
  11. I'll put a Grab in on Clausen. That'll pick him if he is there. The other way to do it is to put QB at P1, but that would pick him ahead of a falling LT. My thinking with OLB/ILB is that Andra Davis is 31 in December. He can show a youngster the ropes, groom him. Are you thinking we want a specific ILB (Spikes? Butler?), cuz I can do that, too with Grabs.
  12. QB---P5 RB---P5 WR---P4 OT---P2 Multiple (draft a second OT after RD3) TE---P6 OC---P5 NT---P2 DE---P2 OLB--P3 ILB---P4 All other positions P9 Let me know your thoughts before I submit them to DraftTek.
  13. ROTFLMAO This explains Wade's perpetually-constipated look.
  14. I've always liked Schobel, thought that he gave his all on a less-than-stellar line. His wife and three kids are calling from Texas. Time to gratefully let this guy ride gracefully into the sunset, with or without a trading pardner.
  15. As recently as 7 hours ago, Charles Robinson was saying that the discussions are still on about a Pro Bowl RB being traded, and he was asked if it would be a draft-impacting trade, and he said, "It could be for both teams, but it depends on the compensation."
  16. 1: Jim Clausen - Washington 2: Tim Tebow - Buffalo 3: Eric Berry - Cleveland 4: CJ Spiller - Seattle 5: Dez Bryant - Miami
  17. Haden won't make it through the gauntlet of midround teams interested in a CB this year. The gauntlet is pick #10 (JAX), #13(SF), #16 (TEN), and #17(SF). At least two corners will come from this gauntlet. Cleveland (#7) could begin the cornerback derby, but I suspect they take the more talented Eric Berry. Additionally, other teams not in that gauntlet that still want a good CB from this draft include Baltimore (#25), Green Bay(#23), Indy(no 1st RD pick), Minnesota (#30), and Philly(#24).
  18. Agree about Ivey. He's the sort of NT the Bills are looking for--the clogging the run lanes type. Campbell, because I consider him a "one year wonder" that Nix and Gailey say they don't like, won't be coming to Buffalo. He's exactly what Al Davis likes, though!
  19. He's not the 2nd best QB. WalterFootball has him 9th, being drafted in the 4th or 5th, which is where DraftTek has him. Do I think Nix would draft him? No. Because he's a one year wonder, because Gailey won't like his improvisation, and because of the blame he supposedly threw down on his o-line and WR's on his Twitter page.
  20. Right now, of the websites I just munched for the Chiefs' pick (all checked today), 79 say Berry 50 say Bulaga 32 say Okung 27 say Trent Williams
  21. Just like Brandon Albert thought the Chiefs were going to take him?
  22. Kiper particularly high on Thomas, whom he called one of the fastest risers up the board...likes Thomas's huge hands (especially compared to LaFell) and Thomas can run very well after catch Best blocking WR in the draft, and we just waived our best blocking WR, Josh Reed If this guy didn't have a horrible QB throwing to him he would be one of the best in the nation. As it stands he should do well as he is the only player that Nesbitt ever seems to throw to, besides Allen. Tech's triple-opt 3,even 4-headed running attack hampers Jackets passing game. Thomas would be Top 10 in the draft were it not for these two factors. 6'-3" and 230 lbs. Runs the 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds (confirmed) 46 passes for 1,154 yards and eight touchdowns in 2009, far better than LaFell. It can be done taking a WR this early: 1-Bryan Bulaga OT Iowa 2-Demaryius Thomas WR Georgia Tech 3-Tyson Alualu NT California 4-Donald Butler ILB Washington 5-Jonathan Crompton QB Tennessee 6-Rahim Alem OLB34 LSU 6-Vince Oghobaase DE34 Duke 7-Chris Scott OT Tennessee 7-David Gettis WR Baylor
