  1. From DraftTek: Here is the relative value/reach for each pick compared to our Final Consensus Mock: Rd 1, Pick 9 (9) Spiller, C.J. RB ---------Value (+3)---we picked him up 3 places after our mock had him Rd 2, Pick 9 (41) Troup, Torell DT -------Reach (-44)--we picked him 44 slots early Rd 3, Pick 8 (72) Carrington, Alex DE --Value (+11) Rd 4, Pick 9 (107) Easley, Marcus WR ---Reach (-71) Rd 5, Pick 9 (140) Wang, Ed OT-----------Reach (-5) Rd 6, Pick 9 (178) Moats, Arthur DE------Value (+13) Rd 6, Pick 23 (192) Batten, Danny DE----Reach (-35) Rd 7, Pick 2 (209) Brown, Levi QB--------Value (+12) Rd 7, Pick 9 (216) Calloway, Kyle OT-----Value (+73) Net---------------------------------------------------------- Reach -21 Our view at DraftTek was that the Bills had a "B" draft; the problem is that NEP and NYJ had "A" drafts.
  2. Great video, and great post. Welcome to the Wall.
  3. Wrong Team to go to, I think. Walter Jones is their LT, but he's coming back from a serious injury, Okung may replace him from Game 1 but is raw, Hutchinson is gone and Wahle is a journeyman, Max Unger is young, Sims isn't physical enough, Locklear is their best player while Okung learns under fire. More running for his life?
  4. OK, let's look at this from OLB-ILB perspective. Outside Linebackers (Keep 6 in bold, put 1 on PS?) 50 Harris, Nic ---OLB, but coming off injury and not likely practicing yet 57 Batten, Danny ---OLB 59 Coleman, Antonio ---OLB 58 Maybin, Aaron ---OLB 55 Mitchell, Kawika ---OLB or MLB 93 Ellis, Chris ---OLB 56 Ellison, Keith ---OLB 90 Kelsay, Chris ---OLB (what he played in college) 52 Manalac, Ryan ---OLB 94 Schobel, Aaron ---OLB Additionally, Bryan Scott and Jon Corto would be OLB. I'd keep Scott over Ellis. Middle Linebackers (Keep 3, put 1 on PS?) 51 Posluszny, Paul---MLB 54 Davis, Andra---MLB 53 Moats, Arthur ---MLB 49 Wright, Mike ---MLB Additionally, Marcus Buggs would be a MLB, and I like him over Wright.
  5. I like your chessboxer avatar. Maybe Ellis gets a pass due to early injuries. He has the size and speed, and at OLB I would think he could handle some of the TE's in our division better than most.
  6. I like Coleman, too. We thought he'd be drafted in the 5th or 6th round. Coleman has a chance to make this squad. I bet we'll keep 9-10 Linebackers this year, plus 2 on the PS. Here's the 14 who we have to choose from: 57 Batten, Danny LB 6-4 250 22 R South Dakota State 59 Coleman, Antonio LB 6-1 248 23 R Auburn 54 Davis, Andra LB 6-1 251 31 9 Florida 93 Ellis, Chris LB 6-4 261 25 3 Virginia Tech 56 Ellison, Keith LB 6-0 229 26 5 Oregon State 50 Harris, Nic LB 6-2 232 23 2 Oklahoma 90 Kelsay, Chris LB 6-4 261 30 8 Nebraska 52 Manalac, Ryan LB 6-0 235 24 1 Cincinnati 58 Maybin, Aaron LB 6-4 250 22 2 Penn State 55 Mitchell, Kawika LB 6-1 253 30 8 South Florida 53 Moats, Arthur LB 6-2 250 22 R James Madison 51 Posluszny, Paul LB 6-1 238 25 4 Penn State 94 Schobel, Aaron LB 6-4 243 32 10 TCU 49 Wright, Mike LB 6-1 241 23 R Utah If Schobel doesn't come back, you could release Manalac (or Ellison; both are lightweights) and put two rookies on the PS.
  7. 1- New Orleans (Brees) 2- Indy (Manning) 3- Baltimore (Best Offseason) 4- Jets (The best O-Line in the AFC; they got the "Build the Lines" idea 3 years before we did) 5- Green Bay (Inconsistent; could be this great or into the teens) 6- New England (Shadow of their former selves, but still have B&B) 7- Dallas (Expect them to outpoint 10 teams) 8- Titans 9-San Diego 10- 49ers 11- Vikings (Farve retires) 12- Atlanta (If Matt Ryan can come rebound from his sophomore slump they look to be solid) 13- Philly 14- NY Giants (Vacation's Over for this on-again, off-again team) 15- Houston (Will make a bid this year) 16- Washington (Could be as good as 10th, though, with Shanny) 17- Steelers (Will overachieve during Ben's suspension) 18 - Cleveland (Improving) 19 - Bengals (added good talent through the draft in last 3 drafts 20 - Seattle 21- Arizona 22- BUFFALO (Halo Effect nets Bills an 8-8 season and will lose out of QB Derby for 2011) 23- Denver 24- Dolphins 25- Chicago 26- Carolina (Name their QB) 27- Detroit ( IF they do better, Suh me) 28- St.Louis 29- Tampa Bay 30- Jacksonville 31- Oakland 32- Kansas City
  8. Solid post. I liked the Spiller pick, and I went "Yeah!....oh, yeah we still need LT, and LB, and QB, and now there'll be fewer good players in the pool to get them...But as the draft went on, I kept saying, "Well, that makes sense...that's a solid pick...He'll be hungry...He has something to prove...etc." Hope springs eternal, but I'm looking more forward to training camp this year than ever before. I don't think it'll be same-old same-old any more.
  9. Ed Wang's nickname at VaTech was "Godzilla". The perfect nickname! Especially if he can terrorize Gotham.
  10. I'm holding out for the obvious...Bushrod, Niswanger, Levitre, Wood, Wang
  11. Antonio Coleman on our 300-Player Big Board at #141 (Round 5) Naaman Roosevelt, on our 300-Player Big Board at #178 (Round 6) Kyle Mutcher, #229 Donald Jones, #230 Sean Allen, #261
  12. I always appreciate your comments during and after the draft.
  13. I like this kid. Check out the YouTube video for the play where he saves a touchdown a la Don Beebe.
  14. DraftNasty is a great site. Right now, there is a poll up, "Question: Which Prospect Will Be the Better Pro? " 12% Colt McCoy 18% Sam Bradford 10% Jimmy Clausen 45% C.J. Spiller 15% Ryan Mathews 695 Votes We Win! We Win! We Win!
  15. The first draft included a great RB, a QB, two linebackers, two offensive linemen and two defensive backs. Sounds familiar. Of course if Levi Brown is the next Drew Breese I'll eat my keyboard.
  16. Our big board had over 700 names on it to fill 255 spaces. That said, two players selected yesterday weren't on our list, one going to Cincinnati and a punter, se we did well at identifying players. The bottom line is that the Bills' average reach over the 7 rounds was less than 26 other teams, at least when compared to our Big Board, and ours is a synthesis of four other big boards and the input of several guys.
  17. From Longball at DraftTek: Here is some quantitative data based on the Big Board rankings. I have posted every draft selection on the Big Board spreadsheet and compared the ranking to the draft position. Due to the fact that teams had different numbers of choices, I took the arithmetic mean of the net differences to arrive at a grading system – those results are as follows: 1. Saints +23.3 (BEST VALUE) 2. Packers +19.4 3. Browns +8.5 4. Seahawks +6.2 5. Bears +4 6. Cowboys -1.2 7. Eagles -1.8 8. Bills – 6.3 9. Ravens -6.6 10. Chargers -8.5 11. Jets -10.0 12. Panthers -10.9 13. Broncos -15.2 14. Giants -19.7 15. Patriots -28.4 16. Buccaneers -39.9 17. Dolphins -44.5 18. Steelers -49.4 19. 49’ers -52.5 20. Raiders -58.7 21. Texans -61.1 22. Falcons -63.1 23. Cardinals -67.4 24. Chiefs -72.4 25. Titans -76.0 26. Bengals -79.4 27. Vikings -79.4 28. Lions -86.8 29. Redskins -88.3 30. Rams -90.0 31. Colts -115.6 32. Jaguars -126.7 (GREATEST REACH) Then, I started talking to myself – “Self” I said, “What if teams with more picks took a flyer on a player?” So, maybe I should eliminate the difference on the 7th round picks; however, there were teams that drafted for value in the 7th round, so that would not be fair. Therefore, I decided to eliminate the largest reach for each team – that would allow every team one “flyer” and here are the results of that calculation: 1. Packers +36.8 (GREATEST VALUE) 2. Saints +29.2 3. Panthers +23.6 4. Browns +20.6 5. Chargers +17.6 6. Seahawks +16.4 7. Eagles +14.9 8. 49’ers +10.0 9. Jets +8.3 10. Cowboys +4.6 11. Ravens +2.0 12. Bears +1.3 13. Broncos -0.5 14. Bills -1.6 15. Lions -8.4 16. Bengals -9.0 17. Giants -12.5 18. Patriots -12.5 19. Dolphins -16.7 20. Buccaneers -16.8 21. Raiders -18.6 22. Steelers -31.1 23. Jaguars -33.6 24. Cardinals -36.6 25. Texans -37.0 26. Redskins -49.2 27. Chiefs -49.5 28. Falcons -50.3 29. Titans -50.5 30. Vikings -51.9 31. Rams -64.7 32. Colts -88.9 (GREATEST REACH)
  18. I had to submit a grade of the draft to DraftTek. I gave them a "B", but everyone knows that the real grade for a draft is "INCOMPLETE"! Saw a few of these in high school....
  19. I'm looking at the crop that's left, and there are a few as yet unpicked at 222: Danario Alexander WR Blair White WR Seyi Ajirotutu WR Jeremy Williams WR Dorin Dickerson TE Colin Peek TE Brandon Carter OG Selvish Capers OT Adam Ulatoski OT Ciron Black OG
  20. Bills get Bulaga's teammate for RT. Experienced (3 year starter, I believe).
  21. I like Easley's height and he makes some sensational catches. James Hardy 2?
  22. Yes, I believe Troup and Linval Joseph were thee strongest NT's at the combine. Good pick.
