  1. Here's a new list of QB's from Rick McGlothlin at DraftTek, updated today: (Stat sequence left to right: attempts/completions-percentage, TD's-INT's, Total yards) -- Top Ten -- New #1 - Consider: Brandon Weeden, Sr., 6-4, 224, Oklahoma St. 74/101-73.3%, 11-2, 975 Am I the only one to even consider this young man as a top pro prospect? He's 26 years old, former MLB pitcher (minor leagues) and has decided to return to college. He just so happens to be a pretty solid quarterback. Maybe the scouts/draft experts haven't realized who he is or know that he really isn't an exceptional prospect. However, when considering maturity, talent-level and leadership, you'd think he'd be in the discussion. Christian Ponder, Sr., 6-3, 227, FSU 61/100-61%,7-3, 672 Ryan Mallett, Jr., 6-5, 238, Arkansas 95/138-68.8%, 10-5, 1,438 Nick Foles, Jr. 6-5, 245, Arizona102/137-74.5%, 6-4, 1,089 Jake Locker, Sr., 6-3, 230,Washington 46/90-51.1%, 6-2, 626 Greg McElroy, 6-3,225, Sr., Alabama 61/86-70.9%, 7-3, 899 Kevin Riley, Sr.,6-2, 223, Cal 52/81-64.2%, 8-3, 732 Colin Kaepernick, Sr., 6-6, 220, Nevada 73/106-68.9%, 6-1, 924 Ricky Stanzi, Sr.,6-4, 230, Iowa 66/99-66.7%, 9-1, 999 Blaine Gabbert, Jr., 6-5, 240 Missouri 101/151-68.2%, 5-3, 1,039 I like Foles, and my positional needs for the Bills has them still picking QB in RD#1, LT in RD#2. I'd be happy to change this, but I'd like to see how the draft plays out on our October mock first. I really do think this is th best QB class since Marino-Kelly-etc. Astro
  2. Unless, of course, we form a small team of fans dedicated to liberate said jersey from said display...
  3. Although the uniform would be particularly clean...
  4. Yes, Ryan Mallett would be the answer. He would have seen Parrish and would have thrown it over his head, or behind him, or thrown the INT. Yesterday's college games made me realize Mallett --or any non-NFL-seasoned QB-- is not the answer.
  5. I'm not seeing the pinpoint accuracy I'd have expected from Mallett. The INT he just threw was a real brainfart.
  6. Here's some input from Longball, our Big Board Analyst: "I would probably go with Scenario #2 ...the interior of your OL is fine. If I could have bookends like Carimi and Hairston, I'd jump on it. They are better in power blocking and can pass protect, where Franklin and Potter are more finesse. Plus, from what I remember about Chan Gailey's offense, there were some interesting variations in the running game that led favorably to play-action (and a more mobile QB), so if he has a year or two to groom Johnson, that might click (Ponder and Mallett can run, but are more in line with a classic pocket passer like Aikman, who hated Gailey's offense). A big cold-weather receiver in Baldwin would fit his offense and with the number of games I've had to watch TCU, Wayne Daniels is excellent value in the 6th, as is Pierre Allen in the 7th."
  7. BTW, the only reason I didn't put Luck in the mix is that he's least likely to declare for the 2011 draft (he's a redshirt sophomore, and he's eligible to play for THREE more years).
  8. I like this thread because I will be turning in our positional needs to DraftTek.com in a few days. I've used today's Big Board and came up with these two draft scenarios: 1. QB - Christian Ponder, Ryan Mallett 2. OL - Orlando Franklin (MIA), Derek Sherrod (Miss St), Marcus Gilbert (FL) 3. OL - Nate Potter (Boise),James Carpenter (ALA) 4. LB - Cliff Matthews (South CAR), Jack Crawford OLB34 (Penn St.) 5. WR - Chris Owusu (Stanford) 6. LB - Jabaal Sheard (Pitt) 1. OL - Gabe Carimi OT (Wisc) 2. WR - Jonathan Baldwin WR (Pitt) 3. QB - Jerrod Johnson QB (Texas A&M) 6'5" 243 4. OL - Chris Hairston (Clemson) 6'7 325 5. LB - Wayne Daniels (TCU), Kenny Rowe (Oregon) 6. DE - Pierre Allen (Nebr) Which scenario matches your idea of drafting for need at this time? Astro
  9. Adding Troup to your list; he'd have been there a round later.
  10. Mallett looked very good; Locker garnered a lot of "bad tape" for scouts. One of the talking heads said Saturday that Locker would still go Top 10. I'm doubting it now. Rich McGlothlin at DraftTek said, "...from the looks of it, Locker is a one-to-two-year project before he has the ability to start for an NFL team. So that would preclude a team like Buffalo, Cleveland and Oakland". He sees Locker going to a team with an existing starter, not a start-right-away type.
  11. Yes, but I see they've eliminated his height and weight. After a QB loses his height and weight, he's not much of a first rounder. I'll bet top 3. He looked good. Also, I don't think Luck will be this high up by the end of the year, and probably won't declare for the draft.

  13. Ageist is someone who discriminates against people purely on the basis of age. I'm more okay with having an owner who is 91 than having a new poster tell me what not to say.
  14. Since there's nothing to do, pick a player in every first round picked after the Bills' pick since 2000. Here's my try: 2009-Clay Matthews LB 2008-Ryan Clady OT 2007-Darrelle Revis CB 2006-Haloti Ngata NT 2005-Aaron Rodgers QB 2004-Lee Evans WR and Benjamin Watson TE; RD2 Max Starks OT 2003-Dallas Clark TE; RD2 Anquan Boldin WR 2002-Dwight Freeney DE 2001-Reggie Wayne WR; RD2 Aaron Schobel DE It's partly management, partly the players, and partly luck, but wow...what coulda woulda been...
  15. I like the name "Buffalo Wing"! It's so good that we have to come up with the play that best matches the name. How about this setup? 5 Men on the OL, Lynch as FB, Jackson as RB, and Spiller out "on the wing" with Evans, and Parrish in the slot on the same side.
  16. I agree with you. I'll take both Titus Young and Pettis, the Boise State WR's and --at this point-- Christian Ponder.
  17. Moats looked awful in his first game, then made 3 tackles, 1 assist in preseason game 2, 3 tackles and 3 assists in game 3, and 4 tackles in game 4, as well as some eyebrow-raising ST hits. Take the bet.
  18. My favorite game --the one I replay most often-- was the 1990 Bills over Oakland 51-3 for the AFC Conference Title. I'm OK with it if it happens Sunday.
  19. I don't know if I am "old school", but I'm not so old that I forgot you! Welcome back, SidBuff! Astro
  20. I am Green with envy. If my Johnson were in Oahu I Wood order a Big McIntyre to the bedframe, take my Levitre, wait for Wang to be put on the active roster, and turn off my reMoats. Parrish the thought of walking around in a Stupar over an NFL team. Dude, you're on your honeymoon! Get Youboty back in the sack! She'll ask for Moorman! (Sorry--I Maybin insensitive.)
  21. Remember: Sun Tzu also say "Boy who play in berry patch get azz in jam." We are playing in berry patch when we try and equate The Art of War with the science of squishing fish.
  22. +1 I also think Carimi is the wiser pick, and the season will bear us out.
