  1. It's entirely possible. Brandon Burton may still be there when we pick in RD3, otherwise Dowling. Right now DraftTek has Burton to Cleveland 2 picks after us, and Dowling dropping to #81 to da Raidahz.
  2. It's a deep draft for TE, and value right through RD6 where the Bills could select Schuyler Oordt. New England is right; rookie TE's can contribute right away (Hernandez, Gronkowski). I'd still recommend a 3rd Rounder, be it . No news is bad news on Shawn Nelson's migraines.
  3. My dream 1st round is a trade with Arizona at #5. They want Gabbert and are unsure what Cincy will do, so they give us their 2nd Rounder. The draft goes Newton, Dareus, Gabbert, AJ Green. Titans at #8 want Quinn, Peterson or Bowers and know Frisco wants the exact same players. They give us their 2nd Rounder for the #5 pick. Titans pick Bowers. San Francisco takes Peterson. Cleveland takes Von Miller. Bills take: OLB Quinn at #8. ILB Mason Foster at #34. TE Rudolph at #38. CB Davon House at #39. QB Andy Dalton at #45. DT34 Jerrell Powe at #68. ILB Casey Matthews at #100. OT James Carpenter at #122.
  4. DraftTek's Michael Shottey was just asked where someone should start taking a shot at Newton. He tweeted, "In a dimly-lit parking lot". Best draft comment of 2011.
  5. My reasons for picking Oordt: He had 1200 yards 12 TDs his senior year and averaged 20 ypc.--in only TEN games. He was 2nd in the 3-cone (by .01). Oordt started only 2 games his junior year but had better numbers than Gronkowski's 4 years COMBINED.
  6. This is my reason for avoiding an early QB pick. Gailey's produced winners without franchise QB's. However, they were smart, mobile, and good leader/managers. That's Fitz. BTW, it's also some QB's in the later rounds.
  7. Now that's funny. And hard to screw up that well!
  8. I love the first 5 picks, and the selection of two OT's. Love Jeff Maehl in the 7th. What a coup--he's a competitor with amazing hands. Whether we'd take a Safety or CB depends on what we do earlier rounds, but that's the only flaw I see in it. You know NEP* will be trading their pick right above us.
  9. Yesterday, Andre Reed tweeted to Ponder that the Bills brass liked his style, and he deleted the tweet after he posted it. http://wgr550.com/Andre-Reed-Hints-Bills-Interest-in-QB/9034669?pid=45316
  10. Say San Francisco (who has 12 picks in this draft) offers its RD3, two RD4's and one of its RD6's for the 2nd pick of the 2nd round. Do you do it? Here's my simulation of that trade to stimulate discussion: 1 3 Buffalo Von Miller OLB34 Texas A&M 2 45 Buffalo Andy Dalton QB TCU 3 68 Buffalo D.J. Williams TE Arkansas 3 76 Buffalo Jerrell Powe DT34 Mississippi 4 100 Buffalo Casey Matthews ILB Oregon 4 108 Buffalo Lawrence Guy DE34 Arizona State 4 115 Buffalo Chimdi Chekwa CB Ohio State 4 122 Buffalo James Carpenter OT Alabama 5 133 Buffalo Shane Vereen RBF California 6 169 Buffalo R. Carmichael CB Virginia Tech 6 174 Buffalo Jo. Barksdale OT LSU 7 206 Buffalo Zach Pianalto TE North Carolina 7 245 Buffalo Jeff Maehl WRS Oregon P4R
  11. Miller then Taylor-Baylor is an interesting way to do that. I still think ILB will need to be drafted early in this particular draft. How about NT Kenrick Ellis with our first RD4 pick?
  12. I personally believe that if Dareus and Miller fell to the Bills (and that would be the PERFECT stroke), that the Bills take Dareus. Nix said we’re going to get bigger and nastier and Dareus/Fairley are the big nasties in RD1, and Dareus is the better choice in terms of personality there. I would be thrilled if we get Dareus. I was a latecomer to the Von Miller bandwagon. Only last week did I really convert to a Von Miller fan. He’s the best pass rusher in the draft, a “4-year wonder” who improved every year up to his senior year (sacks went down but he played to win), a team captain, a stand up character. Majeski said yesterday he has the best pass rush moves he’s ever seen in the 10 years of doing scouting. If I had to design the perfect storm, I would re-sign our CB’s and go 1-Miller OLB, 2-Mason Foster ILB, 3-DJ Williams TE, 4-Lee Ziemba RT, 4-Pernell McPhee DE, 5-Kenrick Ellis DT34, 6-Will Rackley OG, 7-Josh Thomas CB, and 7-Schuylar Oordt TE.
  13. I think Antonio Coleman is going to factor in this year as well as these other previous draft picks.
  14. I'm taking two TE's from this draft, but with our other needs we'll have to take one late. If I had to design the perfect storm, I would re-sign our CB’s and go 1-Miller OLB, 2-Mason Foster ILB, 3-DJ Williams TE (I doubt Stocker is there; Williams is a great guy with great skills), 4-Lee Ziemba RT, 4-Pernell McPhee DE, 5-Kenrick Ellis DT34, 6-Will Rackley OG, 7-Josh Thomas CB, and 7-Schuylar Oordt TE (will be on the starting day roster).

  16. I'll be very surprised if Davis is ILB this year. Davis played 6 games for the Bills last season, and according to ProFootballFocus.com, in their premium stats, graded Davis "good" in 1 game, Game 1 of the season. His rush defense was abysmal, especially in the BAL and KC games. We'll see a new face next to Poz. Poz played in 13 games (out 2,3, and bye in 6) and got a "good" rating 5 times (MIA, BAL, CHI, MIN, MIA), while "bad" 6 times ( NEJ, JAX, DET, PGH, CLE, NEP) The other two were just "meh". That's why we'll be acquiring 2 ILB's before training camp.
  17. 11:45 EST ; Buffalo BIlls GM Buddy Nix will be a guest on @ProFootballTalk Live at 12 noon today.
  18. Batten has been in on all team meetings as an ILB, according to Allen Wilson at Buffalo News. He has all the tools. I think he's one starting ILB on opening day. I do think the Bills will take another ILB in the draft, earlier rather than later--Martez Wilson, Mason Foster (my favorite at this point for #34), Akeem Ayers if we obtain a lower 2nd Rounder, or Casey Matthews at RD4#100.
  19. Ding! Fitz will be fine with one more lineman in this draft. The OL allowed only 2 sacks after game 7, and this with a OL that wasn't the same over 2 weeks in a row. Before the Ravens game, Fitz was #2 in the NFL in passer rating, 1 point lower than that Indy Indoors.
  20. Ijalana's physicals with every team that has him for a visit will determine his draft ability. I don't see him being an answer at RT; he's more of a OG in the NFL. Pinkston will be drafted before Ijalana at OG, so I will say he'd be there in the early 2nd Round.
  21. We forget that right before the Ravens game last year, Fitz was 2nd in the league in passer rating, behind only Peyton Manning. 2010 Passer Rating Leaders Player Rating Peyton Manning (IND) 103.4 Ryan Fitzpatrick (BUF) 102.0 Vince Young (TEN) 98.8 Philip Rivers (SD) 97.8 Tom Brady (NE) 96.0 Tony Romo (DAL) 94.9 Matt Schaub (HOU) 93.0 Kyle Orton (DEN) 92.1 Matt Cassel (KC) 91.5 Drew Brees (NO) 91.4
  22. Ding! Ding Ding! First use of "cede" and "behest" on TBD. Ralph said drafting a QB was the team's top priority in October 2010. In January 2011 he backpedaled, possibly at Buddy's BEHEST.
  23. Houston trades their RD2, RD3 and next year's RD2 for the move from 11 to 3. Why they would do this for 1 player is beyond me. Bills now have two 2nds, two 3rds, and two 4ths. 1 11 Buffalo Nick Fairley DE34 Auburn 2 34 Buffalo Jake Locker QB Washington 2 42 Buffalo Kyle Rudolph TE Notre Dame 3 68 Buffalo K.J. Wright ILB Mississippi State 3 73 Buffalo Jerrell Powe DT34 Mississippi 4 100 Buffalo Casey Matthews ILB Oregon 4 122 Buffalo Virgil Green TE Nevada 5 133 Buffalo Korey Lindsey CB Southern Illinois 6 169 Buffalo Ryan Winterswyk OLB34 Boise State 7 206 Buffalo Graig Cooper RBF Miami (FL) 7 245 Buffalo Adam Weber QB Minnesota I'd take DE Pernell McPhee instead of the 2nd TE at #122, and consider Nate Williams, SS from Washington at #206.
