Bills NOT interested in Rapelisberger
Philo replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am just concerned that we would have given up multiple picks. As I stated originally, I believe that he would end up costing more than just our first rounder. I don't give a hoot about his salary, I just want the Bills to maintain draft picks and continue rebuilding the way they started. And for the record I do agree that he is better than anyone we drafted in the first in the last decade. I don't know, I guess I just have a bad feeling about the whole thing, but really whatever we think is useless. Nix already declined. So now we will never know. -
+1 agree. As the game changes, so will strategy, including using the spread more and more.

Maybe I missed something, but do the Steelers have to trade him? I would think if they don't get a top pick, they would just hold onto him. Has he worn out his stay in Pittsburgh or do they still like the guy anymore? -
If the Bills don't trade Lynch it seems to me that

I think you may be on to something here, but who the heck knows anymore? -
I've thought about this and I don't know if I'd be on board, but I see it as a possible scenario for sure.

Thank Buddy Nix, he made the right decision, not me -

But you would give up multiple picks for a guy that is this close to being suspended for a full year? I am not denying the fact that he is a great QB. Yes, he did win 2 superbowls, but for a team like the Bills who need to rebuild, and do it the RIGHT way, picking up a troubled QB for the price they would ask isn't smart. Even if we did get him, we don't have nearly the supporting cast that Pittsburgh had when they won those Superbowls. What, you think Roscoe Parish is going to catch that game winning TD in the corner of the endzone? I don't think so. Seriously, the guy is a great QB, just not right for the Bills in this situation. He would sell tickets and jerseys and everything but in the long run, I don't think he'd be able to turn us around like everyone would expect him too. -
I think that is exactly right. Bulaga would be a great, solid pick, but isn't flashy like Spiller or Tebow or Williams or all these other names getting thrown around as possible picks at #9. If he is there, Nix will take him.

All but confirms they are taking Bradford #1 overall, as if we all didn't know already -

Excellent news. He would cost way too much, our first rounder at least and maybe more. -

FWIW: Buffalo Rumblings says Lions looking to trade for a RB
Philo replied to richNjoisy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I watched that game as well and was amazed at how he seemed to effortlessly steamroll ND's linebackers and break through into the secondary. This kid's got game -
Good work bandit! I agree with your assessment of the Bills picks, as you can see by my signature

FWIW: Buffalo Rumblings says Lions looking to trade for a RB
Philo replied to richNjoisy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd do that in a hearbeat. I like McCluster too. I would say he is a scat back like Nix has stated he wants, but I wouldn't want to think RB until the third round the earliest, JMO. Gerhart has more to offer than most people think. Most people write him off as an overrated white guy that's too slow for the next level, but I think he has the power, speed and determination to be a successful NFL running back. I would love for the Bills to find a way to acquire him without passing on a priority guy...such as using an extra pick from a Lynch trade if that works out. -
I absolutely love Toby Gerhart and think he is going to be a force of a RB for years to come on whichever team is lucky enough to draft him. That being said, the Bills should only draft him in the third at the earliest, if Lynch is traded. I like this kid so much, I actually kind of what Lynch to be traded now
-
I am about 95% sure Lynch is who everyone has been referring to and about 75% sure that in that case he is going to be traded. FWIW, my guess is that he gets traded to the Lions for their fourth round pick and some serviceable player.

I haven't seen someone post a mock draft in a while and was kind of missing them so I decided to post a new one. I have done my own mock drafts before and have only posted them in my signature, but I wanted to share my latest mock because of all of the rumors and opinions swirling around with a little over a week before the draft. This draft is based on a few conditions. One, Lynch is traded to the Lions for their fourth and an unnamed starter. Two, the Bills trade back with San Francisco and pick up their second. So, here goes, flame away. 1) Derrick Morgan DE 2) Roger Saffold OT 2) Ben Tate RB 3) Cam Thomas DT 4) Ricky Sapp OLB 4) Jonathan Compton QB 5) Riley Cooper WR 6) Shawn Lauvao OG 6) Levi Horn OT 7) David Reed WR 7) Vincent Rey ILB Any and all questions, comments and concerns are welcome. Actually, please hold off on pointless 'OMG! U would be teh worst GM ever! This suckz!' sort of posts. They don't contribute to the discussion and just get people angry. Thanks!

What QB best fits Gailey's mold?
Philo replied to sllib olaffub's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great assesment. Anything really can happen. Personally, I am completely on the fence about Clausen. He could be a great franchise QB that leads the team for years to come or he can be a complete bust. I wouldn't know what to do if he was on the board at 9 so I hope Nix knows the right thing to do. Get 'er done, Buddy! -
I like Toby Gerhart as well. Am I the only one? Or are we all just infatuated with Spiller? Don't get me wrong, I think he is a phenomenal player, but the wrong pick for the Bills right now. I have always been a OT/NT first two rounds guy, so if we do trade Lynch for some serviceable starter then this is a scenario I think would get the job done: Trade back in first to acquire additional second round pick. Draft best NT available in first then draft Gerhart and best OT available in second. We should be able to get Cody or Thomas in first, either of whom I wouldn't mind. I don't know any second round OT prospects off the top of my head but I think we could still grab a good tackle. Thoughts?
-
While it is true that we have added some needed players on defense through FA, I think we should still pay attention to the defense in the draft. I do agree though that we should go offense in the first round, whether its a QB, LT or the outside shot of Spiller. After that I think we have to go best player available at all positions we have a hole at, which is a pretty big list. As long as we address need positions without making reaches in the draft, I'll be happy.
-
I don't deny that they might grab a QB for insurance somewhere in the draft, but I just don't see it being in the second round.
-
Exactly. More or less, I see Tebow becoming the same kind of QB as Vick.
-
Where do you get that from? I thought they were happy with Kolb becoming the new starter. Personally, I don't see the Eagles taking a QB in the second.

Okay so 9 games with the Bills and the majority of the games his last season with the Bengals somehow make him directly comparable with Brohm? Fitzpatrick has had much more experience than Brohm in regular season games. I didn't say that Brohm was better than Fitz, I said that relatively speaking he wasn't that bad compared to a normal Fitzpatrick game. Basically, I was trying to state that he has upside. Sure he didn't score 18 points, but how long had he known the playbook? How long had he practiced with the first team? How many regular season snaps had he taken before that game? Relatively speaking, Brohm has some upside, if he can use it is yet to be seen.
