I see a young team that was 4-12 last year w/ a smart progressing quarterback. Its a year later and we are 1yr stronger and smarter. That has to equate to more wins. It may not get us to the playoffs right away but i see us breaking a few playoff teams hearts this year. This team can get to 8-8 for sure. The people who say Ralph is cheap, Lee Evans is gone, the o-line sucks are blinded. They say Ralph is cheap and then name people like Mckinnie as FA's we could have signed. There was not one FA out there this year that i think the Bills should have signed. Super Bowl winning football teams are built through the draft. Teams like the Redskins, Cowboys, Eagles, Jets throw money at FA's and have not won one Super Bowl this decade. All the Super Bowl winners build through the draft. ex. Pats, Colts, Saints, Packers, Steelers Lee Evans had 700 yards last year and i saw him as a non factor. Lee only has one way to beat a defense and most teams don't have time to wait for him to get downfield and still throw it to him 5 times or more a game. I say we are lucky to get a 4th rounder for him. The o-line is basically the same line as last year w/ players that have improved enough to take over some starting spots. Chan Gailey is starting Urbik and possibly Rhinehart because he wants to tank the season? Im not understanding the naysayers logic there.

Insider: Nix hasn't addressed Bills greatest needs
eme123 replied to Amstel's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Michael Vick was sitting in prison for 2 years. The Eagles had two other capable quarterbacks on their roster and had no risk involved. 90% of us at the time would have said what a dumb move it was. Plaxico Burress was also sitting in prison for two years. His last year in NYG he played in 10 games and did nothing. Even in the Giants super bowl year he barely broke 1k yards. Is a guy like this really going to get the Bills to the playoffs? Flozell Adams is 36 years old. Come on These are hardly rational or effective pick ups. Nor do i think they are better options than what we have now or what we had then. In the NFL, Free Agents are other teams GARBAGE! -

Who was a better FA offensive lineman available this year than a Cornell Green type player? Mckinnie? The Bills could have addressed the o-line this year in free agency with about 5 other Cornell Greens. OR We could let the young average o-line we had last year duke it out w/ each other for improvement. Free Agents are other teams garbage! -

Its just another thing to look forward to when the Bills start winning. All the anonymous sources will disappear. -
Japsers only job if he makes this team is to take up space. If he is going to grow into any role I would like to see him become a presence in goaline and 3rd/short scenarios. I would also like to see Fitz hand it off to him in the fourth quarter of a Super Bowl when we win it.

The past decade in Red helmets has crossed out the good times we had in them for me. I love the white. It feels fresh

What kind of scout is paying that much attention to what the Bills are doing? It sounds as if this poster is full of it. -
Stanley Cup or Vince Lombardi Trophy?
eme123 replied to Frostbelt City's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Vince Lombardi Trophy!!!! hmmmm the highest prize in USA sports or the highest prize in Canadian sport. Im so sick of every one in this town going gaga over Pegula and trying to compare him to Ralph. They are two completely different sports w/ two different systems. In the NHL you can spend until your hearts content and take home the trophy. Thats the bottom line. Pegula will eventually get his trophy. He is going to buy it. In the NFL you are punished for throwing money around. i.e. Redskins, Cowboys, Eagles. Those teams have not done a thing this decade and they have been signing every big name free agent name available. Meanwhile they have drafted terrible and as a result the core of there team is a failure each and every year. Look at the Super Bowl winning philosophies this decade. Patriots- Stable Coaching, Amazing Drafts, QB, Get rid of anything you can replace for future value Steelers- Coaching, Amazing Drafts, QB, Get rid of anything you can replace for future value Ravens- Coaching, Amazing Drafts, Occasional free agent for the RIGHT price Giants- Coaching, Drafts, QB, virtually no big name free agents Saints- Coaching, Drafts, QB, Occasional free agent that makes sense i.e Brees, Greer Colts- QB, Drafts, no free agents Packers- Coaching, drafts, QB, a FA that made sense at the right price i.e Woodson Free Agents in the NFL are other teams trash. When are you people going to get that? I think the Bills fall in category much closer to the Redskins, Eagles when it comes to spending. i.e. Spikes, Fletcher, Bledsoe, Sam Adams, Terrell Owens, Rob johnson, Lawyer milloy, troy vincent, etc The past 3 seasons the Bills have been trying to get on the right track as far as building a football team. That takes time. Especially since you only get 7 draft picks a year. -
The Buffalo Bills Stance on this Season
eme123 replied to Quinn Early's Ghost's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Id be willing to bet there is no correlation. These games are barely a step above practice. Players that don't even make the team are taking up the whole fourth quarter of play. Teams are running plays with a goal of moving the ball with out putting too much on film. Starters are playing one series or a couple series w/ scrubs and literally taking their pads off after. When are you people going to look at what's happening on the field, and stop looking at the score. (screaming) Pre-Season means NOTHING!!!!! -
Hey Got Wood, thanks for that. Now i can change my name to Got Off.
-
Get used to seeing the speed rush technique from Maybin. Its the ONLY move he has. Is two pre season sacks in Buffalo were also speed rushes. Wait until you see him get pancaked by a RB.

I like the idea of Alex Carrington playing a pash rushing outside linebacker role. The guy is up to 305lbs right now with good speed and agility. He's not going to be covering running backs in space by any means but i think he will give tackles/tight ends fits coming from a stand up position. I have not seen any confirmation anywhere but i would imagine Carrington would take Kelsay's place on obvious run downs and heavy pass rush situations. I think this will get a handle on the Bills' problem with "setting the edge" last year.
-
I like Chandler at tight end. It seems as though he is becoming a comfortable target for Fitzpatrick. I'm not sure about his blocking abilities but spending time behind Jason Witten in Dallas couldn't have hurt.

Lets start a positive discussion about the 11' Bills. We all know there are some negatives to talk about which are included in every other thread on this board. So if you can't handle a glass half full mentality (Winners Mentality) then don't bother posting. I'm going to start a confrontation and say that I'm feeling positive about the recent changes on the O-Line. The Bills obviously feel pretty strong about the development of Chad Rhinehart which frees up a very versatile Levitre. Levitre has alot of experience at LT and will likely give Bell some hefty competition at that spot. If it wasn't for his short arms he would be a LT in the NFL already. Pears has looked serviceable at RT in the pre season so far and has been quiet. Quiet on the O-line is a good thing. Urbik started out this pre season terrible and has showed some improvement. Wood is nice and stiff in the middle. One reason i see this O-line getting alot better is the competition they have going in practice every day. Competition for starting spots all over the line such as Bell vs. Levitre, Levitre vs. Rhinehart, Hangartner vs. Urbik. Every day this o-line has to deal with a bigger, stronger, and heavier defense. I really think this will help them improve leverage. Also, going up against talents like Kyle Williams, Dareus, Merriman will make them better with their hands. What do you guys have thats positive about the 11' Bills??
-
Imagine if they had no kickoffs in 99'. We could wipe the Music City Miracle from our memories.
-
It doesn't surprise me that a veteran of this board would make a stupid comment like this. LET THE PLAYER DEVELOP!! You people act like you can just snap your fingers and have a playoff team fall into your lap. The guy came into the league 12 months ago. Any one who WATCHES the Bills has seen gradual improvement from this guy over that time period. Maybin was no better in year 3 than he was in year 1. Thats a huge difference.
-
Tim Graham cites a "source" in the bills organization. He failed to mention the guy was wiping off toilet seats at the time. Graham must have run out of characters. Darn that Twitter.
-
So let me get this straight. The Bills just came out and told Tim Graham that Ralph said "No" to Vick. Does that sound like something that makes alot of sense for the Bills organization? Im just sick of the media saying things that have no factual evidence and playing it off as if it was true.

Disturbing Bills Trend: Ignoring 1st round OL picks
eme123 replied to EasternOHBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Successful 1st round NFL draft strategy. Cross all WR's, RB's, TE's, & Safeties off your 1st round board. Draft the BEST overall player from there. Pick the player that is best suited to be an NFL starter right away. Whether it be OL, DL, LB, QB, or whatever. For example, going into a draft and saying "we are weakest at DE so we got to pick a DE in the 1st round" narrows down the likely hood that your going to pick a sure fire NFL starter. Instead of picking from all sorts of positions and getting the sure thing you narrow your pick down to 3 or 4 DE's. Some DE shows up and has amazing answers to all of your questions and lights up the combine. You classify him as a raw talent and draft him. Your left with Aaron Maybin. So, I don't care if the BIlls don't draft an OL for the next 10 years as long as they are drafting the best overall player available. The rest will fall into place. -
Its not being made public but i have an inside source that says the entire Bills team has demanded a trade.
-
I'm all for the Lee Evans trade. Its the right move for a team like the Bills. Yes, he is a type of weapon that we could use but it appears his career has peaked. Get rid of him and let the young guys play and develop. Keep this cycle going for years. The Patriots and Steelers use the same cycle and as a result they are elite franchises. I just don't know what Chan Gailey is supposed to say to his team right now. There is no way to explain to the team that you are better off w/o Lee Evans. Thats a bad note to start off the season on.

Aside from the way things turned out Trent seemed like a really nice guy. I had the pleasure of meeting him once at Wrigley Field in Chicago. The Cubs & Dodgers were playing and i was standing at a beer stand waiting for my cold one during the middle innings. I turned around and saw Trent standing behind me. I said "Hey Trent". He looked at me with a look of shock. I said "Im from Buffalo". He laughed and said "I figured you had to be. Not many people around here recognize me." Then we had a quick conversation about Cubs/Dodgers, T.O, and the upcoming season. He even offered to buy me a beer.
