  1. and again, why would mason want to come play in buffalo as #3 WR for #3 WR money? makes no sense........
  2. did you guys read the rest of my post?? we can afford to do it WHEN WILLIAMS GETS HIS CAP NUMBER DOWN......... and a good GM makes sure that cap number gets down and gives himself enough room to get what we need......... if our GM can't do it, he isn't doing his job.......... 8M + williams restructure/extension + prioleau release + henry trade = more then enough room....... try to keep up boys.........
  3. we can afford to resign jennings and big pat as well as sign a top end guard, solid tight end, and good backup QB........lesser needs (such as CB and RB) can be addressed in the draft.......... will wiliams have to restructure/extend to make this happen? of course.......if his cap his is 9M, that number will be reduced by 4-5M..........cutting prioleou will create another 1M plus.........trading henry will create another 1M plus........that is plenty of room to accomplish the goals from above........ TD got us in this mess with williams, and he better find a way out of it........we need an upgrade at guard and playoff caliber teams find ways to make that happen........non-playoff teams try to get by with crap (see the bills of '04) and don't spend the bucks to upgrade a defanite need..
  4. wahle would be a fantastic sign......big upgrade at LG and also an upgrade for our depth, as tucker can compete with teague in camp for the C spot and the loser backs up at both guard positions and center..........i would love to see the bills jump on him early in free agency, but if it doesn't work out, there are no shortage of guard options available.........there is no excuse for TD not to land a new starer at this position..........
  5. did we make the playoffs in the past 4 years? we obviously didn't need them that bad, seeing they couldn't get us over the hump.......now if we took bigger hits on williams' contract back then we'd have more room to make a run this year.......it was a choice, and the wrong one......... i understand williams had a number in mind of what he wanted to earn over the life of the deal.........the key is he didn't care how it hit the cap........he obviously would have welcomed bigger salaries in the first few years and would have taken smaller escalators to get his money up front.........
  6. there was a report a few weeks back that indicated the bills have approached MW about restructuring/extending his contract........
  7. that's not the discussion -- i don't think EITHER are worth a 1st round pick, and neither team will get a 1st rounder....... i don't see many on this board posting that travis is worth a 1st rounder.......
  8. how about a one tier bonus vs. the two tier bonus that donahoe gave him? how about bigger salaries in the first few years of the deal and smaller escalators in the back end? both of these moves would have allowed the bills to space out the cap hit more evenly......donahoe made a choice to backend the deal........
  9. there are also folks around here who think that shelton will net zona AT LEAST a first round pick!
  10. agreed, that is fair compensation........others teams pay their best young players to stick around -- why can't we? or more importantly, why don't our fans want our GM to?
  11. he'll be seeking more then that after diem inks his new deal....... sorry man, 10M was MARKET VALUE......now it's more, and the bills have no one but themselves to blame for that because they should have had him locked up earlier......
  12. not going to happen -- there are too many teams interested and i think green learned his lesson after cutting kendall for nothing and then watching him play at an all-pro level for the jets.........
  13. what a load of crap...... if your going to speculate JJ "wants too much money", allow me to speculate that TD is lowballing him and won't put a fair offer on the table........i see that ryan diem is about to sign a long-term contract with indy......that is what happens when you pop 12-14M in signing bonus in front of a player.......when you offer half of that, of course the player won't sign........
  14. yet again, your wrong....... http://www.theredzone.org/2005/freeagents/2005tags.asp Offensive linemen Franchise tender: $7,424,000
  15. i think your barking up the wrong tree....... if i recall correctly, the tag value is the same for all OL, whether your a tackle, a guard, or a center.........
  16. 4.8M cap hit next year.......if he wants to stick around, he'll restructure again.......but if he wants to go, all he has to say is no and they will cut him........
  17. heath will be long gone by the time we pick........i'd love to have him though....... i'd like either franks or becht, but would take pollard over them if he ends up leaving indy.......
  18. "may not be a enough"?? a few weeks ago you told us zona will get at least a first rounder for shelton and that anyone who suggested otherwise was being foolish........ are you backing down from that comment now, or do you still think they will get a 1st rounder minimum?
  19. maybe he just wants to stay in indy AND realized their offer was very fair?? sometimes that is all it takes to get a deal done........
  20. jones got 16M bonus........ jennings can match diem's bonus now, although he would have taken 10M last spring if donahoe would have had the balls to put a REAL offer in front of him back then (that's right, i'm speculating)........ how is jennings not as good? there both 4th year playes, but it took diem half a season to start whereas jennings started from day one........jennings plays a more important position and has played other spots on the line........and diem also missed 3 games in '03.........jennings is every bit as good as diem, if not better......... p*sses me off that indy can keep their good, young talent around but we let ours walk out the door........
  21. "Two league sources told ESPN.com on Thursday evening that the Indianapolis Colts have a new deal all but in place for Ryan Diem, a four-year veteran who has emerged as one of the NFL's best young right tackles. The extension, which is said to be for six or seven years, would pay Diem bonus money in the $12 million-$14 million range, the sources said. If the deal is completed it would remove from the market a guy who, at age 25, is really coming into his own, and who would have garnered a ton of attention in the free-agent pool. At least two teams, one in each conference, had Diem very high on their free agency wish lists." http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor..._len&id=1994355

  23. take it up with mularky smartass: "We have to be smart how we use them," Mularkey said. "We have two guys who don't just have speed but are big, physical backs. People don't realize they're 240 pounds, well-built and can get to the edge. It's hard to say how the whole thing will play out. Willis has great ability, but he has to prove himself."
