  1. i don't think that is his plan at all.....i can't see him paying what it would take to retain jennings........i wish he would, but i think the shelton talk shows he has already moved on........
  2. the comparison was to what we have.......i.e. tucker and smith all would be UPGRADES over those two......
  3. two more names to add to jp's "i'd sign this guy" list....... vonnie is better then big pat?? first off, he's a DE......secondly, he was cut for a reason.......KC's defense blows and vonnie wasn't even good enough to keep around for them.........he can't hold big pat's jock.........
  4. 5? oh, there are plenty more then that........ wahle, rivera, mayberry, andruzzi, anderson, demulling, vincent, dixon, garza, and hamilton........... not to mention a good draft for guards that has a couple immediate starter caliber guys in it......... plenty of options -- TD has no excuse not to upgrade the LG spot.........
  5. i agree with rico on two fronts: 1) shane matthews will return and be the backup -- cheapest option 2) you are wrong -- bledsoe was never given the option to compete for the job
  6. dallas clark was a 1st round pick who has been groomed to eventually take over for pollard.......nothing wrong with that reasoning........ would you have kept pollard at his 5M cap charge? are you suggesting they should have cut clark?
  7. yea, of course there was a big signing bonus, but cincy let him go because he didn't want to play for them.......marvin, fresh on the job, was on this kick that "if you don't want to be a bengal, we don't want you"......... i think your over-estimating green bay's cap position.......they will likely be replacing both starting guards and their defense needs tons of work.......with limited cap dollars, it will be tough for them to retain franks even if the contract he is offered by a suitor is reasonably backloaded........if they match a "market value" offer for franks, they're defense will struggle again because they won't have the room to upgrade that as well........ john tait's contract last year is a good example of a real "poison pill" deal........
  8. spikes cap hit in '03 was only 2.5M the deal is backloaded, not frontloaded.........
  9. no chance that smith falls to #8.........
  10. TD didn't do it with winfield (when he should have) and he won't do it with jennings either.........quite a waste........
  11. i think it's becoming more and more clear that shelton is coming to buffalo and that he'll be our starting LT in '05........
  12. nah, don't recall, but that is probably right.......he had a fantastic game as well.......the offense really rolled that day, bledsoe was on fire.......likely his best game as a bill..........
  13. i don't know the exact numbers, but it must be substantial....... he got a 10M bonus in '02 on an 8 year deal, and then another 3M in a roster bonus in '03........i'm not sure how much of that 13M has hit the cap, but i bet only half at best.......it would defanitely hurt them more on the cap to deal him then to keep him....... i don't see how trading cmart and keeping lamont would make any salary cap sense for them.........your talking about a 10-12M cap hit at the running back position alone, which would mean they wouldn't be able to address other positions.........
  14. jets are around 10M under after tagging abraham.......however, they also have other free agents they need to resign/replace: becht -- TE mckenzie -- RT ferguson -- DT carter -- backup QB i don't see room for them to give lamont the contract it would take to keep him (long-term deal at 3-5M per year)........and i don't see why he'd want to take a contract from them anyway knowing he would be backing up martin for at least one more year.......he can be a starter somewhere, and now is his chance....... i don't find fault in the jets for this at all......it's not like they can just cut martin.........
  15. that was the game where moulds pushed the plays to him.......he drew the coverage and said "just throw the ball to josh".......great game.......
  16. confidence......... he'll find it again this year and give us back that threat in the slot position........
  17. how do you suggest they keep him? you think they can give him the type of contract it would take to get him to stick around as a backup? i don't think the jets have a choice in this one.......are you suggesting they cut martin?
  18. from post #3 in this thread: "if cincy let rudi go they could have turned to perry as their #1, negating their need for a true starter......." that's the point - they might not be in the market for a starter if they decided to let rudi go
  19. i don't know how your aware of the level of interest he is generating, unless you have a bug in TD's office........ there have been reports that up to 5 teams have approached the bills about henry.......that sounds like interest to me........ as well, with rudi and alexander getting tagged, and edge expected to as well, henry is the top back on the market........this will obviously help generate more interest in him.......
  20. if cincy let rudi go and turned to perry as their starter, it would hurt henry's trade value........ rudi would be a more appealing option to other teams and the bengals would not be in the market for someone of henry's status....... see? just because a guy is tagged does not "make it a push" because if they replace internally you have just added a back to the market without creating a space for henry to go........basically you reduce our options by one team......
  21. not necessarly....... if cincy let rudi go they could have turned to perry as their #1, negating their need for a true starter....... same goes for seattle with morris........
  22. you sure can mike..........any time before he signs it you can lift the tag and let him walk for nothing.........
  23. why would he do that when he can get 10-15M in signing bonus alone? can you name a player who did sign their f-tag within the first week of free agency? i can't........you telling me jennings is going to be the first to do it, if tagged?
