  1. "On Friday, Putzier signed a five-year, $12.5 million offer sheet with the Jets. The deal includes a $1 million signing bonus in 2005 and a $1.5 million roster bonus in 2006." sure sounds like a SIGNING bonus to me.......correction, i'm not guessing.......the bonus is due on signing........ your incorrect........they had a 3 day window between signing the offer sheet and paying the ROSTER bonus.......there was no signing bonus in the deal....... see the difference now? i stand by my statement that if denver wants to match the offer and then deal him they will eat 1M in dead cap money.......and that isn't going to happen with their beat up salary cap........
  2. see samari rolle.......different doctors, different opinions.........
  3. i'm not buying any these jason taylor trade rumours.........it makes zero cap sense for the phins to deal him.......6.5M if he's on the roster -- 9.5M if he's traded before june 1st.......not going to happen.........
  4. why would gardner want to be buffalo's #3 WR when he can get a #1 or #2 gig elsewhere?
  5. sure, and my guess would be the contract is set up like most in that the signing bonus is payable as soon as the ink hits the paper.......therefore, it is denver's responsibity and they will have to account for it on their cap........ i think this is the reason you do not see RFA's traded after their contracts are matched.........like i said, i can't think of one example of this being done........
  6. do you have an example of this happening in the past or some other form of backup? it really doesn't make sense to me and it conflicts with the defintion of RFA as i know it.........
  7. but in reality, did the lions of '02 really look a lot different then an expansion team? joey had bill schroeder, az hakim, and michael ricks to throw to his rookie year........that's pretty damn weak.........
  8. i see your point, but i just don't see campbell getting cut.........i think he's a TD favorite and his roster spot is secure........in reality, i don't think his contract is that expensive.......and it's not like any of our TE's "warm the bench"......all 3 play, especially the top 2 because we run out of so many double TE sets.........and as we found out last year, it's always a great advantage to have a reliable 3rd because if either of your top 2 go down you still want to be able to run double TE sets........ as for using the "joe burns" roster spot on a 4th TE/backup FB, you have to remember burns doubled as 4th string RB as well.........so if you keep a 4th TE instead you are essentially going with only 3 RB's, and only 2 can dress on gameday..........and i just can't see that happening either........RB is too important to be so thin at the position.......at least compared to TE's and FB's........
  9. if we bring in another TE, there is no room for neufeld, unless you want to put campbell or euhus on the the PUP or IR list........i don't see why neufeld would find that kind of situation appealing.........we aern't going to carry 4 TE's in the second half of the season........
  10. i find it strange that harrington's draftmate david carr seems to get no heat at all while the word "bust" is thrown in joey's direction all the time.......there both young QB's, they're both still learning, and i think they're both headed for break out seasons........it doesn't happen overnight and sometimes a QB just needs time to develop........look no further then brees for an example........
  11. that would be news to me.........as soon as they match that deal they are liable for the signing bonus, so i would assume that would hit the cap if he was traded........perhaps they can work out other compensation if they choose to, much like the f-tag? i really don't know, but i've never heard of an RFA being dealt right after being matched.........
  12. it's a calculated risk letting him go to DET........i don't like our chances........they really need a guard badly.........i'd still rather take kendrick vincent over demulling anyway, but if TD has a hard-on for demulling i think he's going to lose this bluff.........
  13. if the bills want freddie jones, they better move quick........he was in green bay yesterday.....sounds to me like the packers are preparing for life without franks..........that is the real man we should be after.........
  14. i found the links, but all i see is that the jets might be interested in trading for him even if it's matched.........i don't see anything about the broncos being interested in matching and trading.......and i don't think they would because they have next to no salary cap room and trading him after matching would mean a signing bonus acceleration they can't afford......... i think he'll end up a bronco or a jet.......
  15. do you have a link regarding the bills interest in him and the supposed trade between the jets/broncos?
  16. i think with john tait already around and columbo adding depth, they wouldn't look at shelton now.......tampa bay and st. louis are another story.......
  17. i thought warner's deal was for 4M? i think garcia will be hard pressed to see 2.6M per year, and i guarantee it won't be on a one year deal so his cap hit will be lower.........anyway, doesn't matter, DET has been chasing guards all off-season and have budgeted for that position........they will sign one....... this effects the bills more because a very good TE who would have fit well in offense just came off the market.......we still have a need there, and the options are dwindling.......i can't see us making a play for franks or wiggens, so we could be looking at a sleeper.......
  18. if that is his strategy, i think it blows.........detriot had keroy kennedy in town and put the full court press on him because he was scheduled to go to miami next.........they did everything they could to get him signed and wouldn't let him get on that plane........they got their man, and that is the bottom line......... and where is demulling headed next again? hmmmmmmmmm
  19. i think this was an excellent year for free agent guards, which was our #1 need heading into the off-season........now that jonas is gone LT is more important, but guard is still a need..........unfortunately, many of the better guards have already been snatched up........
  20. he's supposed to go to DET and BAL from what i've read (although BAL would obviously be off if they reach a deal with vincent)........
  21. that's my boy.........i hope things break down in BAL and we make a late push........i'd rather have him over demulling.........
  22. i am hoping we can land demulling as well, but i do find it strange that a lot of folks on this board who dogged jennings over his injury history and stated what a huge problem that was are behind demulling despite his bumps and bruises........ demulling has missed a lot more time then jennings has the past 4 years..........
  23. why? what makes ronnie brown, cadillac williams, and cedric benson such bad options? i think we can all agree at least one of those 3 will be there at #8......i would certainly take any of them over travis...... travis is an option for the cards as well......if they get him they can obviously use that #8 on some much needed defense........but if they don't get him it's not the end of the world.......any 3 of those backs would be very popular choices in ARZ......
