  1. we could be looking for a new starting MLB next year, depending how fletch feels about reducing his cap number that is currently set at around 5M for '06.........TD will not let him play at that figure and i'm not sure he would be offered much of an extension at his age either.......potential cap cut...... and obviously if the bills choose to not resign nate we will be looking at CB's.......no one anywhere close to his talent will be available in free agency (thus driving up his price even more) because teams just don't often let CB's of that quality get to free agency.......clayton or pastabelly had an article on that a few months back talking about the dearth of expected free agent CB talent available next year........
  2. yea, i believe you are correct........if a players is cut they must first clear waivers, but if you go unclaimed they are a UFA and free to sign with any club, via active roster or practice squad...... if a team signs a player off another squad they must add them to the active roster and cannot add them to the practice squad without cutting them first........
  3. george pugh was his TE coach in college....... he was also regarded as "a dominating force in the running game" and "arguably the top blocking tight end in the draft"......
  4. lack of work ethic (he has over-come this perception).......weight issues also impacted his status..... it should be noted he was passed over by the league a second time when he was cut before the season last year.........
  5. which is likely why they made a big play for derrick mason....... their WR's don't look very intimidating (do they ever?) but they have some real difference makers at TE.......daniel graham has established himself and if ben watson can stay healthy this year he will make some noise.......
  6. not necessarly........big ben regressed as the season went on and defenses began to adjust to him........not to mention the long season first year players need to get used to vs. the shorter college season........
  7. not if it's tiered, as most contracts are these days.........
  8. nate's current cap number is 3.5M with 2.5M of that in the form of salary.......with an extension the bills could either increase that number (maintain the current salary and add signing bonus amoritization on top of the current cap number) or keep that number the same (reduce the salary to the minimum, pay difference in signing bonus, and amoritize over new life of deal)........with approx. 3M in cap room, either idea would work and an extension would not require anyone to be cut.......just a matter of whether they want to backload the deal or keep the cap hits more evenly spread out......
  9. i hope both sides work hard to get this deal done......clements deserves to be paid and the bills are in salary cap position to reward him.......
  10. Some of the worst things TD does are the things he doesnt do...this gets overlooked way too often.
  11. i love how the same people who are downplaying willis missing practice were making a huge deal about jonas missing practice last week.......complete hypocrites........
  12. it's not like the bills are the only team being mysterious about injuries........ http://patriots.bostonherald.com/patriots/...&format=&page=1
  13. i think they both stick.......and will perform beyond expectations......
  14. didn't we lose a FB last year trying to hide him away on the PS? not that i'm advocating keeping goldsberry on the roster because i'm fine with burns given his versatility.........i think a roster spot is too valuable to keep a backup FB who can't add any other value to roster other then special teams....... i guess my point is good promising FB's are a dime a dozen.......
  15. i fail to see how this all adds up to his "biggest nightmare"......he got two guys contracts early, which is an accomplishment for any agent........i could see if he got no extensions done, but name me another agent who got 2 players new contracts this off-season two years before the expiration of their deals.......... who are the "number of player who created bad blood with their new teams"? i see javon, owens, and that is about it.......sean taylor, but that has nothing to do with rosenhaus........anyone else? the time he is spending with TO obviously isn't hurting his status with other players -- he's got the most clients in the league........a lot of players probably love the way he's handling the TO issue, which could attract even more clients.........
  16. mckenzie hired rosenhaus last off-season, forced a trade, and then got his new deal this off-season well in advance of the expiration of his old contract.........point rosenhaus..... just remembered another one -- boldin hired rosenhaus this off-season, threatened a holdout, showed up and got his extension........another guy with two years left on his old contract........another point for rosenhaus.......
  17. he got mike mckenzie a new contract this off-season despite the fact he had 2 years to go on his old deal........
  18. practice squad is always an option for leonhard........
  19. $850K is not that much, especially considering the bills would have to eat almost half of that even if he wasn't on the roster.........
  20. wire secured his roster spot when he restructured his contract earlier this off-season.......if the bills were going to release him they would have done it then.......cutting him now would cost a lot more against the cap........
  21. http://www.cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/story/8716360 "........The deal could be worth as much as $28.5 million for the first three years and as much as $50 million over seven years, agent Carl Poston said........" 7 year contract for cap purposes......would have made no sense to do a 3 year deal......his cap number will be low the first year, just like the jets always do........
  22. we all know who his agent is, and he currently has bigger fish to fry.....they'll get around to everett's contract, but there really is no big rush......i doubt the injury will have any effect on the deal -- he's slotted and will get paid as such.....
  23. we shall see when the jets hold their press conference this afternoon......nothing is official until then....
  24. the cap number will be low the first year........standard jets strategy......no way he is making 6M in salary for '05.......and i think the length will be more then 3 years, but the deal will be structured to last 3 years (probably a large roster bonus put in for off-season '08)......
