  1. "There are better (and cheaper) LG options still out there for our offense. I'll name one right now: Bennie Anderson, UFA from the Ravens. He'd be perfect for us." http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showt...ndpost&p=277929 you seemed to get the "hype" back in march....... i trashed bennie when we signed him and took a serious flaming on this board for it from the homers......."TD knows best, your just a fan, he's the expert, stop the crusade"......anyway, he was tossed out of baltimore for a reason.......the ravens showed no interest in resigning him and replaced him with a cheaper more talented player.......ironically, vincent would have looked much better in our lineup and given his connections to mularky i'm still shocked we never pursued him....... it's discouraging to see the way anderson has performed this pre-season but i'm far from surprised........i'm also not surprised at the number of folks who flamed me for voicing a negative opinion on the move back in march now turn around and voice their own negative opinion on anderson......the signing was a screw-up and disappointing given the number of other options the bills had to address the position.....
  2. this is quite frankly not true.......denver just went 4-0 -- how many of their fans are talking super bowl?.........their are enough realists on this board to keep things in perspective.......
  3. i think the bills will stand pat and lindell will be the kicker not just in week 1, but all season........not saying that's a good or a bad thing, but i just don't see them bailing on him at this point........
  4. two names that come to mind are leif larsen and avion black........both seemed to always be in camp and see plenty of reps........
  5. "Simon's contract includes a $5 million signing bonus and $540,000 base salary this year, which translates into an economical $1.54 million hit against the salary cap. There's also an $8 million option bonus in 2006. It isn't guaranteed, so this could be a one-year experiment if Simon isn't everything the Colts believe he is." http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nf...-addition_x.htm he actually took less up front then what he would have made by signing the tag and likely entering the free agent pool next year.......he will defantiely be motivated with that 8M option bonus waiting for him, but i guess there is even the question of whether the colts will be in a cap postion to exercise it.......
  6. 1) evan oglesby -- CB 2) george gause -- DE 3) lauvale sape -- DT 4) jon goldberry -- FB 5) wendell hunter -- LB 6) justin geinsinger -- OG 7) greg jerman -- OT/OG 8) kevin thompson -- QB 9) jim leonhard -- S 10) brad cieslak -- TE 11) rod trafford -- TE 12) jonathan smith -- WR 13) george wilson -- WR 14) jasen esposito -- OT
  7. what do you really expect him to say? all i'm hearing are standard sports cliches.......
  8. i hate how people want to make this about nate.......just like they wanted to make it about winfield........ PAY THE GUY......he wants the money, but he doesn't want to get lowballed and ripped off........if he receives a fair offer he will sign......if he gets jerked around he won't........stop painting him as the bad guy in all this, just like all the other former bills who get painted as "greedy" and "unsignable" when they walk.......after awhile you need to connect the dots to see what the real issue is here........
  9. good teams retain good young talent....... it's going to suck if nate isn't locked up long-term.......he's the exact type of guy you want to build a franchise around...........
  10. reed's roster spot is safe.......in fact, i think he'll be 3rd until parrish returns.......
  11. i guess you learned your lesson after trusting reporters regarding peerless price's chances of being cut........
  12. easy explanation -- a very large chunk of this board are complete hypocrites
  13. i think the timing of all this is key........teams just don't have a ton of cap room this time of year........ if the upfront bonus money was 8M that means 1.6M of it would hit the cap in '05.......add in an additional 600K or so in salary and your up over 2M.......i really don't think with the colts cap they could afford that kind of number........ but we shall see soon enough......details will be leaked in time.......
  14. or a good portion of it is in a '06 roster bonus that forces the colts to commit to him then or cut him loose at the start of free agency, when the big dollars are available.......i.e. ian gold's and brian griese's contracts last year
  15. per PFT, the bonus money is 13M.......i bet over half of that is a 2006 roster bonus which he may never see, depending how this season goes........he couldn't have got all that much in upfront signing bonus given their cap situation.......
  16. wire is a lock for a roster spot.......TSW's fav whipping boy is very valuable to the bills and extremely under-appreciated on this board.......
  17. one other note -- kevin thomas is a UFA next off-season
  18. clements -- pay him.......f-tag doesn't make sense from a salary cap perspective and he's too valuable to lose......extending him will keep his cap hits at a moderate level while the team is at it's peak level..... moulds -- has a lot of leverage against the bills........if he wants to stay, something can be worked out.......but if he wants to go he will get his release and likely make more then his scheduled salary on the open market........if he doesn't want to play ball with the bills it's really going to hurt the cap with the dead money..... teague -- writing is on the wall with the drafting of preston.....will free up a lot of cap dollars...... edwards -- if the bills wait and he has a breakout season he is as good as gone......if the bills want him long-term they better hammer something out now and show faith in him.......he's been around long enough to be properly evaluated..... kelsey -- it will not take "schobel" dollars to lock him long-term now, but if the bills wait till after this season it may....one positive is he will never post huge sack numbers due all the zone blitzing the bills do now...... other big issue not mentioned -- fletcher -- he will be in the last year of his contract in '06 and the cap charge is over 5M.....he'll either have to be extended or be cut.........can't see the bills letting him play out the year at that kind of number.... as mentioned, next year's crop of LT's is the best in quite some time........could be as many as 7 or 8 picked in the first round alone.......love to see the bills go in this direction and address the need long-term........extra 3rd rounder also gives good ammunition to trade up if need be........
  19. so when are you going to answer todd's question? who do you cut to make room? campbell? euhus? neufeld? trafford? you can only carry 3, so 2 of those guys have to go........ and then when everett gets back whoever is the 3rd will be cut......not a very good situation from billy miller's perspective if you ask me.........
  20. if you don't expect him to have a breakout season you let him play out the year and walk after the season......... but if he does end up having a breakout season a talent evaluator looks mighty stupid for not forecasting his progress and locking him in earlier......after all the time the bills staff has spent watching edwards over the past few seasons they should know NOW whether they want him around long-term or not and know NOW whether he will be a special player or not........if they can't at this point they are not doing their jobs.........
  21. the logical thing would be to lock up edwards long-term, BEFORE his breakout season
  22. http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sports/12511344.htm "Barnes confirmed the Dolphins called but said several other teams, including Baltimore, Seattle, Buffalo and Indianapolis also called Monday to express interest."
  23. from today's buffalo news on the front page....... "Bills management has met with defensive end Ryan Denney's agent, Eric Metz, who was at training camp recently. Reached by phone Sunday, Metz acknowledged that he and the Bills have engaged in contract discussions but declined to say where the negotiations stand. The Bills are also trying to sign cornerback Terrence McGee to a long-term deal. McGee, a third-year pro, is due to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season, but the Bills can retain his rights by matching any offer. Re-signing McGee is important to the Bills because they're already in danger of losing fellow starting cornerback Nate Clements, who is seeking to become one of the highest-paid players at his position. He will become an unrestricted free agent after the season unless he re-signs or the Bills designate him as their franchise player." -------------------------------- clements and mcgee talks are old news, but denney? i can't see why he would even be motivated to sign an extension with the bills when he'd obviously be slated for backup duty (and paid as such).......he could probably land somewhere after this season with at least a chance to compete for a starting spot.......now trying to extend edwards would make a lot more sense given he is a starter and would likely have more of a desire to stay....... i sure hope they get some deals done.......it's frustrating watching young talent get locked up all over the league and not seeing the bills do the same with theirs.......
  24. wrong.......i can think of two off the top of my head (mike mckenzie and ogunleye)
  25. mike vick.......one of a kind player considered ogden, pace, and jones, but vick is younger.......real lack of young "star power" LT's in the game..........gallery still could emerge to be the best for the next 10 years, but he's been slow to develop.......
