  1. his worth is just fine........he's still in line for a huge deal
  2. excellent point.........it's not about the savings because their projected 2006 cap numbers are puffed up beyond belief.........it's about how much dead cap there is, and for both players it is significant.......we need both of these guys to play ball, but they have the majority of the leverage.........the problem is, looking at the mess of a team we have, why would they want to make salary concessions and stick around?? they saw what happened to pat williams......
  3. very good -- tough to pay franchise tag money to a guard or center.....if it was broken down by position it would be easier, but with the OL assigned one number it will be up around 7 or 8 million this year...... can't see why bentley would want to resign with the saints given their mess.....hutch may have some loyalty.......
  4. i prefer the colts stategy of locking down the LT, RT, and C spot........they turn out guards each year but they maintain consistancy at those 3 positions.........makes the most sense cap wise as well.......
  5. sam wanted to play, mularkey wouldn't let him........can't blame him for taking off after all the garbage he has put up with.......not the way to treat one of your better vets.......
  6. and there is the rub -- eric has the majority of the leverage and can decide his own future.......the bills will not carry him at his current 2006 cap charge and will approach him about yet another restructure (or perhaps a salary reduction this time around)...... if the bills are forced to cut him due to eric's resistance, this is a bad situation as not only do the bills lose their #1 WR, he will still count 5.3M on the cap (either all in '06 or spread out in '06 and '07)....... the bills are really caught between a rock and a hard place on this one, and this is all due to the bills severly backloading the contract in the first place........
  7. dan reeves.........i'm sick and tired of first time coaches
  8. they restructured the contract over the summer......
  9. doesn't a decision have to be made by week 10? choices being IR or active roster
  10. and what do you attribute this year's success to? that team is posed to make the playoffs again while we watch from the outside......
  11. what did you mean by this comment? do you think the bills always planned to move him to guard at some point?
  12. wahle WAS an option.........there are PLENTY of contracts on the bills that could have been reworked to create room to sign a top guard like wahle.......instead of going that route at the guard position the bills went cheap, and now we are paying for it...... the panthers not only signed wahle, they signed ken lucas to a big money deal......this after paying the dollars to retain some of their own key young players the past two years -- i.e. mike rucker, kris jenkins, and steve smith.......even after all that they still found cap room to give dan morgan, another key young player, a big contract extension.......how can a team that has made it to the super bowl just two years ago be in a better salary cap position then us? shouldn't we have been the ones pursuing QUALITY free agents last off-season?.......seems to me the panthers are running their team well and we are paying for mistakes in drafting and free agency....... TD said numerous times during the off-season that the cap would not stop them from pursing ANY player and that cap dollars could easily be created.......the bills passing on wahle was not because they couldn't afford him.......they chose not to spend those dollars at the guard position.......TD made an error in that he thought the current squad was good enough to make the playoffs and that they would improve their play overall.......therefore, he added very little in the off-season, despite the fact we were going with a first year QB and we lost two key pieces to our team......that was a big mistake on his part....... i think it is way to early to call peters a "quality tackle".....
  13. are you basing this on what you've seen or what you've read? do you have a link to support this? by the way, how are mike wahle and marco rivera doing?? you know, the guys the bills ignored and never made an effort to sign??
  14. "all of his moves were the right ones".........that is laughable......for instance, he hired a dud coach over better options and made a horrible free agent choice in bennie anderson after choosing him over more expensive (and higher quality) free agent guards..... "only hindsight has shown that some of them may not be so good"........do a post search.........you'll find plenty of people questioning TD's moves at the time they are made.......turns out those people were OFTEN correct....... "no one has ever offered up a realistic replacement that would be better"........again, use a post search........you'll find numerous candidate lists littered with more viable exes......each could easily exceed the horrible W/L record that TD has posted in his tenure with buffalo......
  15. guess again.........if his comments from "ask tom donahoe" are any indication, he still thinks all the pieces are in place and that "we need to be more consistant" and "we still have the potential"........he still doesn't get it, just like last off-season where he didn't spend for quality and settled for other team's rejects.......
  16. i thought it was a good call.......reed should have caught it.......unfortunate because he had another good game overall.......
  17. trade your top 10 pick for rivers (no signing bonus) or spend your top 10 pick on a vince young (15M signing bonus)? easy choice......rivers is ready to play after two years in the league learning........
  18. they didn't already have a bunch of mid-2nd day picks.....they traded for them after.......in fact, they traded down THREE times! traded a 3rd for two 4ths traded a 4th for a 5th, 6th, and 7th traded a 6th for a 6th and 7th seems to be me they were looking to drop in the draft.......
  19. where do you get these make-believe rules about the draft day market? the same place you got your make-believe story about the bills attempting to move up (which i see you still can't prove)? here is one for you from the '04 draft: "Indianapolis traded its second- and fifth-round picks (Nos. 59 and 161) to Cleveland for the Browns' third-, fifth- and sixth-round picks (Nos. 68, 141 and 173)." cleveland didn't move up in the 2nd round in fact -- they traded up INTO the 2nd round from a 3rd round pick without giving up a 4th!!.......and you just said that was impossible, given the rules!! forgot your "established rules".......all you need to know is this: http://www.nfldraftblitz.com/pick_value_chart.htm breaking down the trades you listed: lions/titans trade -- lions give 558 points and receive 530 points seahawks/panthers trade -- seahawks give 458 points and receive 450 points potential bills/green bay trade -- bills give 393.6 points and receive 390 points see how that works? the proposed trade i offered was not unreasonable at all.........and we'd be in a much better position today if it had been done....... and in case you want give up your arguement that trading up was impossible and flog on me for using pure hindsight........ http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showt...ndpost&p=315915
  20. if you want to make a claim do your own research to back it up......until then you haven't proved anything that shows the bills made an effort to trade up...... i did not suggest that we should have traded our 2nd and 4th for 4 spot bump -- that would be over-paying........we should have traded our 2nd, 5th, and 6th, which would have been an equitable trade.......would have been well worth it to secure a LT for not just the future but the present......much more valuable then a 3rd WR and punt returner when those roles were already adequately filled on the bills roster........
  21. it is perfectly reasonable to expect a small trade up in the 2nd round to land the right talent for this team, especially when we're sitting there with no 1st round pick......johnson was only 6 picks before us and barnes only 3.......if we couldn't swing a deal to get either of those guys OBVIOUSLY we weren't offering enough.....but hey, i suppose that is TD's MO...... do you have a link that shows the bills tried to move up in the 2nd round?
  22. even though PIT doesn't throw the ball often, opponents still respect the pass because when they do throw it they often burn the opposition......its not 'doing it' but the threat that you can 'do it'.........the bills don't pose that threat.......
