  1. well if your using "dead cap space" to evaluate TD's cap management, that isn't going to look very favorable........ this year we had bledsoe on the books for around 5M, and now we've got two big possible hits in mike williams and eric moulds on our '06 books........there are also numerous vets on the roster that the bills may want to dump but don't have the flexability to do so given their large dead cap numbers........
  2. why would the texans pick up his roster bonus? if there going to trade/cut him, they'll do it before that date to avoid it....... regardless, i don't think carr would find buffalo a very appealing situation even if he was available (which i don't think he is -- texans will take bush by the sounds of it and keep carr around)....
  3. i think mr. peppers would object to that statement.........along with the majority of football fans.......
  4. i agree with these comments.......marv loves the guy and it's a no-brainer that cottrell should be back in buffalo.......it will be a welcome sight to see CB's actually playing near the line of scrimmage, not 10 yards deep!
  5. actually, he was a 4th round pick.........but that is besides the point....... i am expecting preston to start at either LG or C based on how well he played in relief this season (especially against miami).......with a full off-season in the program to dive into the playbook and get his body ready, one of those jobs will be his to lose.......and i expect him to grab the opportunity and run with it, just like he did when asked to play this season...... not sure why you are comparing him to geisinger, as he was inactive for most games.........
  6. if he's willing to work with a 4-3 i think it would be a positive move........if he wants a 3-4 he can go elsewhere........
  7. i think you go into free agency knowing you have to address OT, OG or C (depending on where preston plays), DT, and possibly DE.......you also know that you have the draft to fall back on, with the chances of landing 1 player in the #8 hole who can immediately step in and fill one those roles very high...... based on that, you attack free agency by weighing the needs equally and looking for the best fit (considering the cap, playing style, etc)....if we fill a need (or needs) on the DL, we can look at OL.......if we fill a need (or needs) on the OL, we can look at DL.......we have some flexiablity here, which is very benefical because your not always going to get the free agents you target.......you need a plan b, and c, and d.........
  8. he wasn't worth the coin, which is why he offered to take a pay cut to a more reasonable level.......but instead, he was cut.......just another unhappy vet who was misused, mistreated, and then shown the door.......
  9. in drew's defense (man, i feel dirty just typing that) the mckenzie situation did work out to mckenzie's benefit in the end........ he did get a contract extension last june.......at the time he still had 2 years left on his contract and there is a very good chance that if he was still in green bay he would have had to play out those 2 years before seeing a new deal.......there are plenty of situations to shed doubt on drew's handling of clients, but that is not one of them because his plan worked in that case........
  10. what a waste -- pat williams should still be a bill, blowing up interior lines and adding positive locker room chemistry....... and the funny thing is after the numerous posts defending TD for not paying the man last year due to the fact "he'll never see the end of his contract", we now have numerous posts declaring that grady jackson should be targetted by the bills to fill the hole that big pat left in the defense -- the same grady jackson who isn't any younger and wants the same type of deal big pat got!! oh, the irony!!
  11. not if he keeps losing clients left and right (for instance, grady jackson and javon walker to name two).......he is starting to feel some backlash........
  12. if they can't afford both, they'd be smart to choose hutchinson over alexander........
  13. rumoured to have tore his ACL last i heard......
  14. denney is now a UFA and kelsey has not lived up to expectations.....we can certainly use a difference maker like mario.......
  15. interesting to see mario slipping in there draft.....anything can happen this year with so much top end talent.....the only player i'm counting out at the 8 spot is reggie -- the rest is wide open.........
  16. mularky does not deserve to stay......give me haslett
  17. i love these "he won't be available" comments -- stocks go up and down this time of year, the senior bowl is upcoming, scouting combine, and finally private workouts........a lot can change in the next 4 months so i wouldn't be knocking guys off the draft board just yet......
  18. no, but i expected people to have a little more foresight given the previous 4 seasons.......another horrible off-season, another horrible season -- no surprise there.......
  19. don't forgot the homers who were supporting TD last off-season, giving him the "benefit of the doubt" for his off-season moves (or lack there of), labeling his cheapness as good salary cap management, and mocking anyone who made fun of his overall strategy...... man, look how things have changed in a year around here.........
  20. no to capers.......this team does not have the personnel to run a 3-4 and i don't want to see rebuilding years to get there...... martz as OC? too much passing for my liking........
  21. token interview.......i doubt gray is a serious candidate for the job
  22. completely disagree......brees has 8 months to heal -- should be plenty of time as long as the injury isn't worse then currently advertised....as a result, he'll get his long-term deal with a decent signing bonus and a large roster bonus built in for next off-season to protect the chargers...... as for rivers, he'll be dealt for a 1st rounder this off-season.....one game played in horrible conditions will not effect his trade value.........it's just one game.....
  23. he's a good tackle -- why mess with a good thing? and judging by his comments in a buffalo news article last week, he's quite happy to be playing anywhere........to paraphrase "i'll play anywhere they want to put me.......i just want to help the team win"
  24. ryan denney is a free agent, so who knows if he'll even be back.... secondly, how would schobel and kelsay see MORE pass situation duty?.....they currently hardly miss a snap on passing downs........what they would do is miss run situation duty, because neither are suited to play end in a 3-4...... all this 3-4 talk is rubbish - we don't have the personnel to make the switch.......
