  1. and you think dockery would have sat around waiting to get signed? of course not, he would have signed elsewhere......wasn't worth tying up all those cap dollars while quality free agents were getting snapped up
  2. how much would you offer for brady - a second rounder?
  3. actually, just the opposite - by not tagging clements they had room to sign dockery.......with the tag that wouldn't have happened
  4. 1) Dolphins - Jake Long (OT) - I think their interest is for real. Deal doesn't get done before the draft but he's still the pick. 2) Rams - Chris Long (DE) - They could go Dorsey or Gholston, but end up with the safest guy on the board. 3) Falcons - Glenn Dorsey (DT) - Don't cave to public pressure on Ryan and go with the stud to address a weak front 7. 4) Raiders - Vernon Gholston (DE) - You didn't think they really wanted McFadden, did ya? Guess that smoke worked. 5) Chiefs - Ryan Clady (OT) - Just like the #5 spot last year, the second OT comes off the board and it's earlier then expected. They really wanted Jake. 6) Jets - Leodis McKelvin (CB) - After failing to land Samuel they still get their CB. 7) Saints (trade with Pats) - Sedrick Ellis (DT) - Saints leapfrog the Bengals to land their DT. Pats slide down a few slots and save a few million. 8) Ravens - Matt Ryan (QB) - McNair's replacement falls to Ravs and starts from Week 3 on. 9) Bengals - Darren McFadden (RB) - The tumble comes to a stop. Of course they wanted defense here, but Rudi is aging and can't pass up the value. 10) Patriots (trade with Saints) - Branden Albert (OG) - Pats get the guy they wanted all along at a reduced price. 11) Bills - Limas Sweed (WR) - Despite offers to trade down, Bills take their boy and address their top need with their first pick just like last year. (Note - I hope I'm wrong and they either take Harvey or trade back). 12) Broncos - Chris Williams (OT) - They wanted DT but go with value and take a replacement for Lepis. 13) Panthers - Rashard Mendenhall (RB) - They need a OT and a DE but also need someone to pair with Foster. Mendenhall gives them the power back they've lacked since Davis left. 14) Bears - Jeff Otah (OT) - 5 OL in the first 14 picks? Just happens to be a big need for a lot of teams drafting early and it is the best position in the draft this year. 15) Lions - Derrick Harvey (DE) - Lions try to trade up to get Harvey but end up staying put and still landing their boy. 16) Cardinals - Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie (CB) - Zona is tempted by RB Stewart but goes with a much needed CB. 17) Chiefs (trade with Vikings) - Phillip Merling (DE) - The Jared Allen trade gets done and Chiefs take his replacement. 18) Texans - Keith Rivers (LB) - Another team in desperate need of OT help, but all the top OT's have gone so go with the value in Rivers. 19) Eagles - Devin Thomas (WR) - They are going to get a WR either by using the pick or trading it. Not buying the trade up talk. 20) Bucs - DeSean Jackson (WR) - They're very tempted to go with CB Jenkins here, but Gruden loves his offense and they addressed defense with their 1st rounder last season. 21) Redskins - Malcolm Kelly (WR) - WR run continues. They wanted one of the other big receivers or Merling, but have to settle for Kelly. Could turn out to be a Moss-like steal - or a Rod Gardner-like bust. 22) Cowboys - Mike Jenkins (CB) - Need to add another offensive weapon but nickel is a need as well. If Pac Man trade goes down look for a slight reach with RB Jones or WR Manningham if WR Jackson is off the board. 23) Steelers - Gosder Cherilus (OT) - With Faneca gone and Smith entering last year of deal the Steelers re-fortify the OL. 24) Titans - James Hardy (WR) - No doubt this team needs another target for Young. With the defense in good shape they address the offense early and often. 25) Seahawks - Jonathan Stewart (RB) - With Alexander on the way out the Hawks can't pass up the big bruiser from the Northwest. Jones once again goes into the role of the 1B back. If Stew goes earlier the Hawks could go S or DT. 26) Jags - Calais Campbell (DE) - They are on the fence between Campbell and DT Balmer, but go with the edge rusher. 27) Falcons (trade with Chargers) - Brian Brohm (QB) - Armed with loads of picks the Falcons jump to get their QB of the future. Chargers need the picks and drop to the 2nd. If they stay put they love CB's. 28) Cowboys - Felix Jones (RB) - Jerry missed out on his boy from Arkansas but settles for his running mate in Felix. They really wanted a WR but wait till the 2nd to address that need. 29) 49'ers - Kentwan Balmer (DE) - After spending big on Justin Smith in free agency they continue to beef up a very weak DL. 30) Bills (trade with Packers) - Brandon Flowers (CB) - Bills and Packers both continue their trends from recent drafts and move up and down respectively. Flowers is the perfect fit for the Cover 2 and the Bills don't want to risk losing him. If the Packers stay at this spot you can expect CB Cason. 31) Sorry Pats! haha 32) Giants - Kenny Phillips (S) - G'men get their much needed replacement for Wilson. ------------------------------------------ Who rose - Clady, McKelvin, Sweed Who fell - McFadden, Stewart, Phillips Top of the 2nd picks - Mayo, Cason, Baker Remaining Bills picks: 2) Traded 3) Martellus Bennett - TE 4) Traded 4) Ali Highsmith - OLB 5) Traded 6) Peyton Hillis - FB 7) Hilee Taylor - DE 7) Traded 7) Jamey Richard - OC
  5. phins might be using jake for leverage, rams might be more interested in dorsey or vernon, the rams could also be trading back based on the chatter (saints might want to move up)..........who knows what is really going on............i don't think anything is set at this point
  6. brandon flowers - he is a perfect fit for the cover 2.........can see the bills falling in love with him ala whitner
  7. and that is why i hope the bills don't go CB at #11.......playing defense isn't that complicated - if you can get to the QB consistently without having to blitz a ton then you are going to stop any offense.........bills need another pass rusher, be it on the outside (harvey) or on the inside (ellis is within reach and a trade up would be well worth the price)
  8. profootballtalk.com has been mocking that guy for months because he is flat out wrong http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/04/17/...ohnson-cap-hit/ if johnson is cut (couldn't pass up a lebowski moment) before june 1st the hit can be spread over 2 years........i believe the rule is teams are allowed to designate two players as "post-june 1 cuts" and release them........the reason they brought this in is to get players out on the market earlier instead of june when teams are less likely to spend and have basically finished their rosters if he's traded before that date the team still have to take the entire hit in 2008
  9. the eagles won't go CB in the first........they love picking linemen early
  10. brandon flowers (i.e. whitner-like completely out of left field reach) jordy nelson sam baker

  12. i don't think ryan is worth the #3 spot........if i'm the ravens i call that bluff, pick him at #8 if he's there or, if he's not, address the position in round 2.........certainly doesn't look like a franchise QB to me, although he'll be serviceable......and, as quinn found out last year, doesn't take much for a QB to slip
  13. schefter is reporting it as well..........good news for the bills draft - this makes ryan a lock to go by the ravens at the latest
  14. blah to the kelly news (he's looking like a good pick........in the 3rd) but that link did contain some nice tidbits Al's Draft Scoop...Buffalo Bills - The Bills could be looking to move down in the first round of the draft, unless Florida DE Derrick Harvey is still on the board...if Harvey is available, the Bills could surprise their fans with his selection and target a big wide receiver like Jordy Nelson with their second round pick...Nelson's stock is rising to the point where he's going to be targeted by teams like the Broncos, Redskins, Eagles, Bucs and Cowboys in the second round of the draft... Another player to keep an eye on as a potential Bills draft selection is Oklahoma CB Reggie Smith...Smith isn't a burner since he has 4.6 speed, but he's a big, physical corner, and a solid run support man, which is just the type of corner the Bills are looking for to fit their cover 2 scheme...plus Bills director of scouting Tom Modrak was present for Reggie Smith's workout, since it was held together on the same day with teammate Malcolm Kelly's workout.
  15. this is getting dangerous - i'm actually starting to get my hopes up that we'll land this kid (which of course indicates the bills will be going with a WR or a CB!) harvey would be a great fit and i suspect the BPA
  16. i'm not really buying your first point - the coaches have mentioned many times that they like johnson's versatility and ability to play DE......with him on board, the bills need a DT or a DE for the rotation in my eyes (not just a DE)........johnson plays at whatever position is not addressed
  17. so what's that tell ya? the chart is screwed up and needs a radical change
  18. extra incentive? try a discount TEAMS WANT TO TRADE DOWN Posted by Mike Florio on April 11, 2008, 10:56 a.m. With the draft 15 days away, we’re hearing that plenty of teams want to trade down. The only problem? No one wants to trade up. Whether it’s the result of a less-than-stellar group at the top of the board or the out-of-whack financial investment required to take a top-ten pick or the picks that need to be given up to make a move north, no one is interested. It doesn’t mean a trade or two won’t happen. Indeed, this year might be the best year for someone to try to bust the existing trade chart, since the teams that would have to trade up would have leverage, given the number of teams that want to move down. http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/ and with any luck, this will result in massive changes to that ridiculous and out-dated draft value chart
  19. terrell suggs II - sounds like someone is hoping to see him slip
  20. i remember seeing mayock break some tape on this guy, and i was taken back - he hits REAL hard and seems to have a real good nose for the ball.......probably about 75% of the clips were in run support and of course that is his strength, but he was extremely impressive there..........looks like a great fit for the cover 2
  21. they'll get a FB in the draft............schouman will be cut - he doesn't fit at FB or TE
  22. not if half this board had it's way.......why so many are suggesting replacing the center is beyond me.....he is the most important cog when it comes to continuity!
  23. when do single game tickets go on sale again?
