  1. so just because it hasn't been reported that means he hasn't paid anything? your logic, as always, is extremely biased the fact of the matter is that the bills have chosen to not make that information public.......thus, he could have paid the fines in full, he could have paid a portion, or he could have paid nothing.........it is factually incorrect to state that "this hasn't cost him anything" because you don't know that, and very few people do know the truth (including peters, who when asked did not deny that he has paid fines but instead replied "i don't know")
  2. they might use the spot to get omon on the active roster - they've been going with just 2 RB's since week 2........but then again, if barnes can't go sunday then omon can take his roster spot (although i doubt he'd see the field much) and stevie johnson would probably dress
  3. could of fooled me judging by the state of this thread i think people forget that we had half the team on IR last year.....it will be OK all, settle down! it's only one guy there, i said my piece - continue over-reacting as per usual
  4. what makes you so convinced that peters hasn't paid the fines he accumulated?
  5. no worries..........didn't he have a bum knee as well earlier in the year? some rest for that won't hurt at all mckelvin can certainly handle the punt return duties just fine........ on offense, shift josh to the slot more often, give hardy some more play on the outside, and problem solved people have been talking about easing the rooks into the team and making them earn snaps.......i didn't want to jinx it at the time, but this is the way things usually work - injuries happen and that is what gives them their shots......time for the mckelvin and hardy to take advantage of it, and i think they will be very prepared and hungry to go........i don't see this slowing down the bills much
  6. happy to be of service! might have to make it a weekly recap of the gamethread dramatics!
  7. IMO, the improvements in 3rd down defense is a direct result of the improvements in run defense.......a 3rd and 8 is a lot easier to defend then a 3rd and 2
  8. probably going to cost him more then that tgreg99: "We heard on Thursday that the new contract signed by Giants receiver Plaxico Burress contains new money tied in part to his participation in voluntary offseason workouts and to his ability to continue to perform at a high level. Adam Schefter of NFL Network has the numbers, which confirm that this is indeed the case. But Schefter also reveals that much of the money is tied to the receiver’s presence on the active roster, presumably via per-game roster bonuses. The contract, initially reported as a five-year, $35 million package, actually has a base value of $30 million, and includes $5 million in performance escalators. Of the $30 million, more than $5 million is tied to Burress being on the active roster for each regular-season game, and $3.5 million is tied to fully participating in minicamps and training camps. The deal also includes a signing bonus of $4.25 million, and his 2008 base salary is now essentially guaranteed, since he is a vested veteran and was on the opening-day roster." http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/05/...rk-performance/ ------------------------------------------------ so yes ch19079, it is a big deal for the player, who was whining about money all off-season
  9. tell that to the other poster - he was the one comparing this year's number (after 3 games) to full season numbers, which is obviously useless
  10. small sample size.........by the end of the year the % will be a lot closer to the other numbers then to 18
  11. who do you cut/bench to make room for another DT?
  12. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3606190 In their second major move in two days, the St. Louis Rams released starting cornerback Fakhir Brown and signed former Saints cornerback Jason Craft as a roster replacement. NFC West blog ESPN.com's Mike Sando writes about all things NFC West in his division blog. On Tuesday, the Rams, under pressure because of an 0-3 start, benched starting quarterback Marc Bulger and replaced him with Trent Green. Coach Scott Linehan was expected to address the moves Wednesday at a news conference. The 31-year-old Brown was considered the team's best coverage option and made 27 starts the past three seasons since going to the Rams from the Saints. His release comes only a week after the benching of another Rams starting cornerback, Tye Hill. The Rams rank 30th in pass defense, giving up an average of 272.3 yards per game. As a team, the Rams are giving up 38.7 points a game. They face the AFC East-leading Buffalo Bills this weekend. ----------------------------------------------------- this all smells of a coach trying desperately to save his job
  13. considering kalimba edwards (who is average at best) consistently beat peters on the pass rush with simple speed to the outside and a quentin groves (a rookie) schooled him badly the week before also going to the outside, i don't think that leonard little (or chris long) should be discounted
  14. MILLEN IS OUT! Posted by Mike Florio on September 24, 2008, 10:02 a.m. Less than an hour ago, yours truly told the Sports Junkies on WJFK radio in D.C. that Matt Millen will continue to run the Detroit Lions for as long as William Clay Ford Sr. owns the team. And, to no surprise, Millen has been fired. Jay Glazer of FOX reports that Millen is out. Per Glazer, the decision came on Tuesday night. It’s unclear whether Millen resigned or was fired. The timing of the move, coming a day after Bill Ford Jr. said that he’d fire Millen if he could makes us think that Millen might have decided to move on. Millen, who previously was a game analyst for FOX, became the president and G.M. of the team in 2001. The team generated a woeful record of 31-84 during seven-plus seasons. http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/
  15. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/8601112 The New York Giants will not have the services of their most electrifying offensive weapon when they play Seattle after their bye week. WR Plaxico Burress will miss the game, not because of injury, but rather insubordination. FOXSports.com has learned that the Giants have suspended Burress for two weeks for failing to show up for work on Monday and not responding to several phone calls by the team to explain his unexcused absence both Monday and Tuesday. The star wideout, who was just rewarded with a new lucrative contract three weeks ago, was slated to meet with team officials early this morning to explain why he would've violated team rules and failed to return several phone calls explaining his whereabouts. The excuse apparently was not good enough and head coach Tom Coughlin told the team this morning of the predicament and subsequent punishment. The suspension means Burress will miss two weeks worth of pay as well as next week's game vs. the Seahawks. In 2008, Burress has 18 catches for 259 yards and a touchdown. Last season he garnered massive respect for grabbing 70 balls for 1,025 yards and 12 TDs despite playing on a severely injured ankle. He's amassed four seasons of at least 1,000 yards receiving, two with the Giants and two with the Steelers. He opened this season with 10 catches for 133 yards on the Thursday night battle vs. the Redskins and at the time seemed worth every penny of his new deal. Just three weeks later, however, the Giants are left punishing the wideout instead of praising him. --------------------------------------------------------- what a douche
  16. by the end of the day the line will increase by 3 points
  17. doesn't sound good.......insert jonathan evans
  18. i'm ready to see chris ellis get a chance copeland bryan has been pretty poor in his limited defense snaps, often over pursuing and running by ball carriers........and he had a holding penalty on the punt return that roscoe brought out of the endzone, parking the bills on the 1 yard line at an important part of the game ellis can't do worse and likely could do a lot better......would be good to see him for 8-12 snaps on defense and on special teams
  19. buffalo called the TO because oakland stayed in their base defense........obviously didn't fool them at all
  20. i still don't understand why the officials stopped the play right before the bills were about to snap the ball........the raiders didn't challenge at that point but for some reason the whistle was blown......after the refs got together, the wound the clock again, the bills lined up to snap again, and THEN the raiders challenged
  21. i can just imagine the response from Parker: "but, but, but......jason missed camp so of course he wasn't all that good the first few games - he was knocking off the rust! you can't judge him based on those games! pay him based on how good he would have been if he had a full camp!" i hope for jason's sake that he clues in to this game sooner rather then later and moves on to his 4th agent.......his play confirms what a horrible decision it was for him to hold out......he didn't get a new deal, perhaps paid fines, hurt his standing with the fan base, hurt his team on the field with poor play, and if he doesn't clean it up soon he's going to hurt his pocket book, cause his stock is certainly down
  22. don't see kelsay getting props here after making a big play on the sack/forced fumble......he avoided a cut block and i know it's cliche, but he showed excellent hustle to keep with the play and timed his swat perfectly..........that turnover set the bills up deep in raider territory for their 1st TD he then came back the next series and knocked down a ball on 3rd and short while dropping in coverage on a zone blitz people love to complain about his contract (even though it isn't that obscene for a starting DE) but he has stepped up his play this year and been very effective......the presence of stroud in the middle has made things a LOT easier on him
