That...and a sub 60% completion percentage.....The chances are he's just not that good. I seriously quit the Bills if that happens....but It would be a great way to get next year's #1 overall.

Aaron Williams on his way to Buffalo
JPS replied to buffalobillsgrl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have no position on Aaron Wms until he plays under a good scheme. But you can't compare him to Moulds or Spiller. Williams played way more than Spiller and especially Moulds. He does have an NFL Body of work and it's not very good. The others were still pretty much unknowns until their 3rd years. But it's early to call him a bust. -
Tyrann "Honey Badger" Mathieu - CB - LSU
JPS replied to dbflaBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Boy, was I wrong about Mathieu. A 4.43!! Wow. But he's only 5'8". That alone pushes him into the 3rd at least. Anyone suggesting a 5'8" corner would be a top 10 pick is, to say the least, a bit optimistic. -
I like all your LBs Bandit. All. Guys were saying yesterday it's going to take Jordan 18 months to put on weight due to surgery. Hey...question: I don't know how to quote just part of a guy's statement to respond to. Anyone? Thanks.

Tyrann "Honey Badger" Mathieu - CB - LSU
JPS replied to dbflaBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The guy is a national star with a cool nick name on a National powerhouse football team and gets booted off for weed. I'd go with "no" on the question of whether he's smart. Plus, I don't care. Slow is slow. -
I looked at all the highlights. Jordan does show speed. One concern I have is that he is really high as he turns the corner. Maybe it's because he's 6'6", but he doesn't dip his shoulder much to get under the OT's hands. That's what makes outside guys like Von Miller and Freeney deadly. They are low and they make a HARD turn to the QB. I'm looking for it, but I don't see it with Jordan. He is quick though. Maybe he can do it and it's just not on these highlights. Another may sound stupid, but in 2 of his free run kill shots, he led with his helmet right into the QBs chin (one of them was Barkley). That doesn't fly in the NFL. Being a Bills fan, I have 100% confidence that if he is the next great pass rusher, he'll be playing in NY or Pittsburgh. And if not, Buffalo will still be looking for an OLB next year as we make excuses for the kid's lack of performance. OK, that was negative. Sorry.

Tyrann "Honey Badger" Mathieu - CB - LSU

Forget bench press. He's small and he's slow. -
So, what I gather from the responses is Marrone is a combo of Tom Coughlin and Bill Cowher and he fell off the Parcells tree.....or was it Herm Edwards?
-
I hear you. But the dude is light. And he can't really lift weights this year with tomorrow's labrum surgery. So he's basically a 3rd down rusher at least until next year, no?

There are no slam dunks on OLBs in the 1st round. NONE. I really like Jamie Collins (S Miss) in the 3rd tho.

A Few Thoughts About The QB Position And The Bills.....
JPS replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm no expert either. But I was right about Russell Wilson, right about Kaepernick....and I can't remember the rest. Well, with Bray, you know he can physically get the passes where they need to go as opposed to #14. Now, the thing about him that bugs me is it doesn't seem he made Tennessee any better. I dunno what his stats were other than wins and losses, but the landscape is littered with crap QB who could "make all the throws". I want a guy who DID make all the throws and won some games. Something about Geno Smith bugs me. I dunno if it's the 9 yard pass to Austin that shows up as a 72 yard TD, his slight frame or his demeanor, but he just doesn't reek of a field general the way Luck, Wilson and RG3 did last year. I loved Tyler Wilson's interview, but he's the guy with the tiny hands, right? I think Barkley DOES show up as a General and will be a good pro for the Cardinals. What about our boy Nassib? -
Does the coach cut players or the GM?

Pats* sign Brady to 3 year extension thru 2017
JPS replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It sucks that Brady is willing to play for half of his worth. Makes it harder for every team in the NFL to compete against them. I wonder if he'll look back with regret in 10 years after his divorce. -
I hate 'em all. The available players just don't fit. I hate Patterson idea. Geno Smith is just okay. Jones has spinal stenosis. He got away with it in college, but he will be going up against bigger, faster dudes and I'd remove him from my draft board. I'd go OL, QB, TE, but would be open to DL/LB in the 3rd.

[closed]If the pick is Patterson at #8...
JPS replied to Kellyto83TD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Patterson is not probable to Buffalo BECAUSE he is a one year wonder. It wouldn't surprise me at all if AZ takes Barkley at 7 and Buffalo shocks the world and passes on Geno Smith at 8. If they do, I'm thinking Tyler Wilson in the 2nd. I loved his interview. Who do the Bills go with in round 1? To me, you take the surest bets and that seems to be Fisher, Lane Johnson, Warmack, Austin & Floyd. I know the Bills need LBs, but I think there's good depth in the 3rd and 4th rounds such that they should reach for a Medical (Jones), a drunk (Ogletree), or 2 possible Maybins (Mingo and Jordan). I may be ignorant on Mingo and Jordan, but Maybin makes make gun-shy on the lightweight fast, athletic pass rushers. -
In today's NFL, 1 year may be all Marrone has. Think about it. They suck. Ralph dies. New owner brings in new people. Add the fact that Malarkey just got fired after 1 really bad season and I think Marrone will be coaching his ass off and making decisions that will help him win NOW and in the future.

I will be looking for applications for the Chicago Bears bandwagon if the Bills take yet another defensive back in the 1st round. There's only so much "Jauroning" I can take. To me, CBs are the cherry on top of a solid foundation. And the Bills are lacking about 5/7th of a good front 7. Oh....and they probably should look at QB at some point. I've seen it in a couple of places. I think it's a clueless Mock. Patterson is not THAT good that his 1 year is going to propel him into the top 10.
-
To me.....without looking at the guy, I look at over 7,000 yards and 40 Touchdowns. I don't think those numbers have been fully appreciated. I still don't know if the Bills can afford to take him. Probably not. But I think it's going to suck trying to play against him twice a year, particularly if Brady is dealing.

All I know is that IF Levitre walks, the Bills have major questions at LG and RT and have 1/2 of a question at center. Even if Levitre stays, to me, they have a gaping hole at RT. Can this be filled by Zebrie Sanders or Chris Hairston?? I just don't know. But at whatever round, I'd love to see them take a guy to step in for Wood when he gets hurt and soften the blow if Levitre leaves. I don't think the Bills are as "set" at O-line as a lot of people think.

Darren Sproles is brittle and useless.

Pears and Hairston are turnstiles. I'm all for the OP's plan if he's the BPA.
