  1. Truly interesting post. Thanks. Could you imagine a passionate football guy...a hall of famer...being the owner of the Bills? Warm fuzzy....
  2. Can we not judge Nix based on rumors allegedly heard by a guy name Greg Rosenthal. Don't buy it at all.
  3. Have we mailed it in on Wang and Meredith? Not a horrible scenario, but in today's NFL, never gonna happen. You can't trade your best offensive player without sending a message to your team that you don't care if you win. And that is also not going to happen from the standpoint of a 1st year GM and 1st year coach. They're not exactly searching for rock bottom to impress the fans.
  4. Gailey would have to be willing to put the next POS QB in if Edwards starts timid. Spiller would have to break one AND a special teams TD. What would happen between now and then?? NOTHING. If the Bills win, it would be a shocking upset.
  5. Watch the Miami game again and focus on Stroud. When you do, you'll know. He's 2 yards off the ball in the 1st 1 second after the snap. He's playing on name alone. At the risk of being annoyingly redundant, I'll end my criticism of Stroud by just saying...watch him and how little he does to influence the play.
  6. Put Kelsay's heart in Stroud's body, we got us a player. Stroud got blown off the ball on every snap except 1, when he shocked me an made a tackle. Why Stroud gets a pass around here is beyond me. Kelsay sucks, but at least it looks like he gives a shite.
  7. I know I'm gonna get killed for this, but is it possible Green just had a bad game and could raise his level of play to the serviceable level? He was in the league for 10 years before the Bills.
  8. GG and Sisyphean, You both make good points. I think the switch had more to do with the success of 3-4s in the division and the bonus of practicing against it if you run it. Gailey said as much. You're going to have to show me where he said the switch was personnel based, because I don't remember that. My point with guys like Kelsay and Stroud is: They suck, but they are well paid. Since they're going to get paid anyway, why not try them elsewhere and see if they suck less. If they work out, then great. If not, Carrington and the newly drafted rookie will play next year. Maybe Carrington is not strong enough. Maybe Maybin has issues too. I think it's a lot more complex than to say after 1 game, "he sucks, play the young guy". You will see youth served, just not all at the same time in the 1st 3rd of the season.
  9. Considering he has sideline to sideline responsibility, shifting between SS and FS behind the likes of Stroud and 4 bartenders at LB, I think you are being hard on him.
  10. Because you have no film on them in their current system under the current (read "any") coaching. Have they seen Kelsay at LB? Stroud at LDE ina 3-4? I'm not supporting these players because I think they are all gone soon enough, but you can't kill Nix for taking a look at them, especially when he has nothing to replace them with. I love how these board geniuses think this can be done in 1 year. If we just woulda drafted a starting QB, 2 OTs, and 4 LBs, we'd be a lot better off than with Spiller and Kelsay. I know it sucks, but it's going to be another 2 seasons of good drafts and expiring contracts before this team really competes.
  11. It's a 16 game season. Some of these posts sound like January posts. I can't blame Nix for wanting to see what he had on his roster. They have alot invested in Kelsay, Stroud, Ellis, Edwards and others. Why not watch them over a 16 game season before cutting bait because you just don't know. I suspect you'll have HUGE roster turnover over the next 2 years.
  12. I thought Whitner was VERY good considering the front 7s shaky performance. The DBs are really exceptional. Miami ran that screen pass with 6 people out in front and only Whitner and Florence to stop it....and they did. How some of those plays didn't go for HUGE gains is a credit to Donte and all the other DBs. And....as much as I wanted Ngata (and still do), recall that the Bills were going for a 4-3 look at the time and wanted more Warren Sapp than Ted Washington. Whitner is a good, if not great player and a big reason why our DBs are the best in the league. You'll drive yourself crazy with hindsight. Move on...
  13. Agreed....that O-line looked awful. Even Wood wasn't moving anyone. I think there's enough discussion about Trent Edwards.
  14. I can't read all that....I assume is says TE is no good. I think there's agreement there.
  15. Starting sperm is no answer. If we just started guys because they were new, they would be even more unwatchable. I'm willing to be patient.
  16. Spot on. I'm just waiting for someone to agree with me on Marcus Stroud. I watched him closely to see if my views were unwarranted. He's just good enough to be on the field and not good enough to make a difference. Funny seeing the Bflo airport loaded with Bills fan at 5 am....
  17. God love the Bills fans when Fitz looks like a better option. He prob is, but that's not saying much at all. We should just play 9 O-linemen and forget trying to pass. Or maybe 10 and play w/out a QB.
