Do you really think the subtraction of Lee Evans from this team secures them the #1 overall pick. I submit that the difference is NEVER a WR. I understand the frustration as I'm a Bills season ticket holder living in Chicago, but the hysteria over the Bills trading a 30 year old who had 37 catches on a 4-12 team is ridiculous. Hey, we lost with him....we can lose without him.

You get rid of Evans only if: 1. the compensation is generous; and 2. his replacement emerges. Other than that, you've just created a hole on a team with plenty and taken the only proven deep threat off the roster. The whole back 7 - please take 1 step forward....

Agreed. But all those teams were substantially built via the draft and the incoming FA was more of a final piece. I just think we need too many pieces to go 40 mil on one guy....unless he's a QB. Thee QB.

Kelsay fits the 4-3 D end part of the hybrid defense perfectly. He never asked to be tried at OLB and he never bitched about trying to play OLB for the 1st time in his life at the highest level of football. Yeah, he sucked. But did he ever throw his coaching staff or other players under the bus? Most players today are all about themselves and would have. Like it or not, Kelsay is a professional and he's a guy you want your younger players to model. You can argue that his production doesn't justify his salary on this team, but what do you care? He's either good to have around or not. At DE, he's worth having around.

We lost with Poslusny, we can lose without him. I think it's a pretty simple and successful philosophy: Build thru the draft. Pay your productive people and let anything less than your STARS (and maybe even them at a big number) leave. Over the past 10 years, there were time that I thought the Steelers were going to suck because they lost people like Kevin Greene, Joey Porter, Alan Faneca, Plaxico Burress and Santonio Holmes. But they took their supplemental 3rd and 4th round picks and stocked the team with replacements that we never heard of until they were starters (and the new cornerstones of the Steelers team). The Bills are early on in the process. Kelvin Sheppard may be their Joey Porter. Stevie Johnson may be their Hines Ward. But to scream at the gods because you no longer have Paul Poslusny (@7M per) or didn't get Tarvaris Jackson is just plain ignorant.

Desperate times call for desperate topics. I keep checking this board (or, should I say, bored) for something interesting, but they're giving us so little to talk about.

Great example of why it's hard to come on this board in the offseason. Some wahoo makes up a stat and we're supposed to pick a side on our obviously decent, but not great QB. Why don't you just morph it into a "Lee Evans is not a true #1" discussion and complete this topic for me. The Bills played about 7 different players and LT and RT and you're going to analyze the QB? Fix the wheels before you worry about the driver.

All you can do is vote with your feet. I am not renewing my season tix, but they were also Club seats and way too expensive for what you get. But I'm not doing Sunday ticket either. It's just my way on punishing those who are counting my dollars as their own. People will never boycott the NFL games, but we could spend less on NFL licensed stuff. That's big business.
