Maybe Jeremiah Ellison could find a little extra support in his heart and give it to the woman his father abused....

Their argument will be that blacks make up a less than 13 % of the population, but approximately 24% of police killings in any given year. So, without any context at all to any of the killings, they condemn an entire profession for being racist simply because a "disproportionate" number of blacks are killed. Yet they are strangely quiet in other areas that are disproportionately represented by blacks. For example, blacks, again, a group that comprises less than 13% of the population, account for 38% of all police killings. https://ucr.fbi.gov/leoka/2018/home So, my question is, since blacks are more disproportionately represented as killers of police officers than they are as victims of police killings, should people, based on the same logic, assume there is something inherently wrong with the entire black race? Of course they won't, nor should they. Because it is ridiculous. Oh yeah, add in the fact that there are literaly over 6,000,000 (six million) contacts between Law Enforcement Officers and blacks in any given year https://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/cpp15.pdf and this idea that it's "open season" on young black men is really ridiculous. The facts don't support the narrative, not even close....

I put BillZStime on my ignore list which, for me, is reserved for terrorists on this forum and enemies of rational, logical, intellignet posters

The overwhelming majority officers are more than willing to be part of the solution. It would be nice if those pushing this national narrative would also be willing to be part of the solution...
-
Yeah, I read about the other officer as well. I hope him a full and speedy recovery. Nothing more than acceptable casualties in the fight against injustice, right? SMFH
-
Unfortunately, he won't get anymore than a passing mention in the MSM, most will never even know his name, and his death won't matter to most people outside those who knew him and loved him. His death doesn't fit any national narrative.... Rest in Peace, Mr. Underwood. Our thoughts and prayers are as much with your family as they are with the families of George Floyd and anyone else victimized by the same thing: Specific individuals who are indifferent to human life and have no problems cruelly ending one for their own self-serving interests.
-
I really break the "protesters" down into three groups: (1) Those that are peacefully protesting and genuinely feel that what happened to Floyd represents deeper, systemic issues. They should have the opportunity to peacefully protest as much as they want. (2) Those that are using the opportunity to engage in criminal behavior. They are not protesters, they are criminals who are taking advantage of the situation. These are primarily the looters, but engage in arson, vandalism, assault, etc. as well. (3) Those that are paid agitators, those that despise everything this country stands for, those that would literally love to see everything burned to the ground, etc. These are the ones on the front lines of getting into the faces of police officers, destroying buildings, and engaging in any behavior designed only to escalate violence. Unfortunately, the last two groups have hijacked the "protests" and it needs to be stopped.
-
Certainly not a fan of law enforcement doing what is seen in this video. However, I have no idea what the context of this behavior is and these are not normal times right now. We have violence sweeping this country and it needs to be stopped. That is no easy task and there are no easy answers. I certainly am not saying the people on the porch were posing any sort of threat, but, maybe, LE Officers perceived an urgent need to get people inside at this particular time and at this particular location, and didn't have time to stop and explain to everyone who felt like they didn't want to comply. Again, I am not justifying what is shown in this clip. Like I said, I have no idea what was going on around this neighborhood at the time. They better have the justification for doing what they did.

Actually, that would be the perfect thing to have average citizens go through just to gain some insight into what those situations are like. It can be stressful, even absent real life consequences.
-
Both were bad. I agree the case in Georgia was even worse.
-
He was already handcuffed. The officer’s behavior crossed the line and, at the very least, contributed to the death of Floyd. He was fired immediately. An investigation began immediately. The facts and the law determined he should be arrested and charged, and he was. The investigation is still ongoing regarding the other three. The process is working as it is designed to work. If he is a police officer, you have no idea what kind of police officer he might be - certainly not from a few posts on a message board.
-
Exactly. Why can each case not be evaluated based on the factors unique to that case. There should never be automatic assumptions.
-
There is no normal for how long it takes for arrests and charges to be made. Each case is unique.
-
No argument there. Training is better than it has ever been, officers are more educated than they have ever been, and law enforcement agencies are more diverse than they have ever been. What is really needed is an honest national dialogue where the starting point is not that law enforcement agencies are systemically racist.
-
I wish the people who have the worst opinions of law enforcement had even the slightest idea of what it is like to deal with emotionally charged, potentially violent situations, and knowing other people will have all the time in the world to evaluate decisions you have to make instantaneously.
-
People like Lee Merritt have never been in a situation where his life might depend on split-second decisions made entirely on subjective interpretations.....
-
The investigation is ongoing regarding the other three officers. What seems like "way too long" to you, me, or anyone else is irrelevant. I'm sure charges will be coming. What happened in Georgia didn't involve law enforcement officers killing the victim. There are some issues regarding the local police not doing what they should have done from an investigative perspective; however, it was a different scenario.

Two people have already died. A young man in Detroit and a Federal Officer in Oakland. https://www.npr.org/2020/05/29/866022166/protests-spread-nationwide-on-fourth-night-after-minneapolis-death-of-george-flo They just don't matter because they don't help any narrative that is being pushed at the national level...
-
I think there are rational ways to read this and then there is the MSM and Democrat interpretation: "I'm a racist, I hate all black people, and they need to be shot."
-
They actually allowed her one free punch. some people don't know how to quit while they are ahead....
-
Assault a police officer and you get what you get.....

Federal Protective Services officer shot and killed in Oakland, FBI says https://www.sfgate.com/crime/article/Oakland-protests-riots-federal-officer-killed-loot-15305272.php I wonder how much outrage will be expressed over this. Oh well, he was in the law enforcement arena, so he was probably a racist anyway....

1. What tweets? Remember, Margarita, we like to be specific in our answers as it alleviates any confusion. 2. Thank God 3. And what if they resist? Honest dialogue is always welcome. However, if you prefer to twist things into what you want them to be, then maybe it should be your last post.

Really reaching there. That is all you got after going on about people in this thread advocating violence against protesters? BTW, I don't know how you missed the other questions I asked you; however, I will repost them: (1) Show us where Trump advocated violence against protesters. (2) As far as the criminals go, are you advocating that we just let them loot, vandalize, set fires, and assault people until they tire themselves out? (3) If not, what would you do to stop them?
-
As you stated, "...there is a difference between peaceful protesters and criminal behavior. HUGE difference..." Peaceful protesters are protesters, criminals are criminals. Please show us one post where anyone advocated violence agains protesters (by your own definition). When you are done with that, then show us where Trump advocated violence against protesters. As far as the criminals go, are you advocating that we just let them loot, vandalize, set fires, and assault people until they tire themselves out? If not, what would you do to stop them? Please be specific. You have a tendency to make sweeping generalizations
