  1. It is even more true today. The black communities in this country are being betrayed by the very people who scream the loudest at having their best interests at heart.
  2. By your logic, then: There are over 7 million contacts between police and black citizens over the age of 16 in this country each year. There are, on average, about 10, clearly unjustified murders of black men each year, and an average of a total of 230 black men who are killed by police each year. Each of those murders is a tragedy, but the idea that those killings proves a narrative of systemic racism in law enforcement is asinine. EDIT: BTW, the vast majority of those shootings you referenced are not taking place throughout the "Chicagoland area." As with most cities, they are taking place primarily in the poorest neighborhoods, which are predominantly black.
  3. And blacks call themselves "N***er" or N***a, see it right in their music and other places. Why don't you use those terms in describing them if it is ok because they refer to themselves that way?
  4. I do. And I have seen policies and programs that, while well intentioned, have done far more harm than good in black communities. I have seen a government that has done virtually nothing for the overall socioeconomic growth of black communites; however, it has little to to with systemic racism and much to do with using black communities as pawns political and personal power and advancement. Like I said Tibs, you like to take a simplistic approach and not dig too deeply into things...
  5. Ahh, I see. Poor white people and communities are to be condescendingly dismissed as "red necks." I see your concern for the poor isn't spread that equally....
  6. If you do not want to examine actual facts about violent crime in black communities, if you do not want to honestly evaluate the impact of that violent crime on the communities and the nature of policing, If you are more interested in assessing blame in simplistic ways than in open dialogue about the issue, then it really isn't a leap at all to reach the conclusion that you don't really care...
  7. Unfortunately, for the black race in this country, they have put their votes (overwhelmingly) behind the same people and the same party, year after year, after year, after year..... And they have allowed the same "Black Leaders" to speak for them year after year, after year, after year.... There didn't seem to be any improvement for black communities or much honest dialogue under Obama either.
  8. No, we shouldn't. However, a lot of people do and their voices are drowning out the reasonable voices right now through fear, intimidation, shaming, etc. All of which does nothing but prohibit honest dialogue.
  9. This game is played by a lot of people on both sides
  10. Yeah, he probably has no idea what the black experience in this country is like....
  11. Thomas Sowell: "The other 99 percent of black lives destroyed by people who are not police do not seem to attract nearly as much attention in the media." I thought, from the national narrative right now, and from voices right here on this forum, that this is a racist view...
  12. There seems to be a lot of this going around. Keisha Lance Bottoms, and a lot of other people, on both sides, should take a long hard look in the mirror....
  13. When you are talking about Officers having to be allowed in to investigate a homicide, it is time to put an end to this
  14. No offense, but Campaign Zero is not exactly where I would go to look at police reform. There is plenty of legitimate data through DOJ data collection and research, as well as other sources. I am a believer in community policing and reforms in the way we approach policing violent crime ridden black communities. It needs a massive overhaul that cannot be accomplished without an increase in funding and personnel as the first step. The only way that it ultimately leads to less funding is if it is effective. Not before. Don't you find it the least bit interesting that the majority of the people behind this whole "defeund the police" movement are the very same people who beileve the solution to every problem begins with throwing more money at it?
  15. That wasn't a plan. It was a statement in regard to the idea of reducing the budgets of police departments, particularly in high crime areas. Please show me the data that shows reducing crime was accomplished though decreasing the funding of the respective department that accomplished it. It is the type of policing that matters and community policing approaches have been the most effective in urban areas. That is where the reform really takes place and it cannot be accomplished without increasing personnel and budgets as a starting point. "Defunding" the police is nothing more than a punitive measure in the current environment.
  16. IMO, defunding the police is a ridiculous argument. If anything, the budgets and sizes of departments in the highest crime areas should be increased.
  17. I could do that. Would you like to talk about what is making you so angry?
  18. You're welcome. I know feelings are important to you...
  19. No, you just appear to be a bit unhinged and I thought you might benefit from a little therapy. It is actually a very helpful suggestion. At the very least, if this forum generates the unhealthy emotions displayed in your posts, maybe you should just take a break from here. Cheers
  20. Might I suggest a therapist's office....
  21. I think Berman wants to create his own little CHAZ CHOP Zone....
  22. Democratic political leaders reminding blacks not to stray off the Democratic Party Plantation and think for themselves has been a shining example of progression.... As Joe Biden says, “Well, I tell you what, if you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black.”
  23. Didn't Joe Biden already sum this up?: “We should challenge students in these schools. We have this notion that somehow if you’re poor, you cannot do it. Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids. Wealthy kids, black kids, Asian kids — no I really mean it, but think how we think about it.”
  24. @Penfield45's posts constitute an ongoing crime against intellectual debate...
