  1. So, Sowell isn't a hack? Do you only respect black people when they say or do things you approve of?
  2. Why does it not surprise me that Strzok's hand written notes are just being turned over now?
  3. Criminal behavior is criminal behavior. I don't care what percentage is doing it. Ignoring it or minimizing it is the same as condoning it.
  4. Sometimes, Jimmy, an apology is a sign of weakness...
  5. Protesting ends where criminal behavior begins. There are democratic and civil ways to deal with this issue.
  6. Honestly. Quoting Lisa Paige criticizing anyone on issues of integrity or courage is like quoting Jeffrey Dahmer criticizing people for what they keep in their refridgerators.
  7. They don't care to talk about it. The disbanding of CHOP will be a win win for the left. If the Mayor can convince them to just leave, then the headlines will be about how they really were just rational, peaceful people being villainized by the right. If they refuse to leave and violence erupts when the police have to physically move them out, then the headlines will be about police brutality against peaceful protesters.
  8. I don't love Trump. I despised Trump long before he became President. I didn't even vote for him. This is what I mean when I say you live in a world of complete internal reality. In other words, everthing you say and do stems from sh*t you make up in your mind.
  9. Again, Tibs, you just keep proving my point. As I said, this is what you do when you can no longer intellectually defend your positions. Yes, Trump lies. Yes, Biden lies. Yes, Clinton lies. Yes, politicians lie. Honestly, you are so very childlike.
  10. I have stated all of the reasons why I believe the officers acted appropriately. He approached the officers. He was yelling, he got well within a radius that can present a safety risk to an officer, ignored orders to get back, and he did, in fact, reach his right hand toward an officer. It was at that point he was pushed back. I'm sorry he fell as he did and I am sorry for any injuries he may have sustained. However, I stand by my assessment. We can just agree to disagree.
  11. You prove my point. This is typical of your responses when you can no longer intellectually defend your positions.
  12. All of these statistics are important and just goes to show the complexity of the problem. Just a couple of points: (1) You really cannot limit the data to just violent crimes and weapons charges. There are so many instances of interactions that should never turn violent, let alone lethal; However, they often do, in fact, turn violent and lethal. Just look at the incidents involving George Floyd and Rayshawn Brooks. (2) The level of violent crime in black communities draws a disproportionate amount of LE resources and creates an entirely different dynamic in the nature of the response and interactions. All of which is difficult to meaningfully tease out from the data. It is an extraordinarily complex issue in which so many people want to define in simplistic ways.
  13. I have no doubt he is educated; however, he lives in a world of thoughts and theories based on a reality that is completely internal. External reality, which provides the foundation for the accurate assessment of problems and finding reasonable solutions, is never allowed into his little utopian world. The cognitive dissonance would probably make his head explode.
  14. This really does provide the most appropriate metaphor for Gary's posts...
  15. Add to the equation: Face to face interactions between LE Officers and people over the age 16 All people over 16: 50+ million (population 253+ million) White: 37+ million (population 164+ million) Black: 6+ million (population 31+ million) Total murders 2019: White: 6200+ (% killed by police: 7.55%) Black: 7400+ (% killed by police: 2.96%)
  16. Gee, Tibs, I would love to explain it to you; however, I don't really care to because we both know why. It wasn't the point of my original post, which was that poor women are the ones that get the majority of abortions. Keep up.
  17. Well according to your general theory of all things America, I'm sure it is the result of centuries of oppressive racism.....
  18. It is interesting what the flag signifies to different people. Those thoughts certainly vary from person to person, and each is entitled to his or her opinion. Whenever I think of my time in the military and my subsequent career in law enforcement, I always think of the term, "serving my country." That is really how I have always thought about it. It was never anything specific, just a general sense of, "I served my country." For me, the flag represents the country that I served: all that is good in this country and the potential and promise that it holds for all of its citizens. It is an imperfect work in progress and throughout its history, many of its citizens have been denied that potential. However, the good in this country, that which should be celebrated in the flag, and what I personally see in the flag, is the continual struggle to be better as a society, the individual rights and freedoms that allow every citizen to speak out over injustice; the ability for each citizen to participate in righting wrongs and creating change for the better; and the knowledge that, as a nation, we have come so far, while still recognizing how far we have yet to go. And, the understanding that, while this country still has so far to go, it is the greatest nation on earth and still holds the greatest potential and promise for its citizens. Much of my consulting work now involves the military and I spend a considerable amount of time on military installations. For those who are unfamiliar, on most installations, Reveille (A bugle call followed by "To the Colors") is played at 6:30 a.m. over speakers to signify the start of the day, and Retreat is played (followed by the National Anthem) at 5:00 p.m. to signify the end of the day. Whenever I am walking on a base and Reveille or Retreat is played, it is really is an amazing sight to see everyone, no matter what they are doing, to stop, come to attention, and face the flag (or music if they cannot see the flag). They are always moments that make me feel incredibly proud. People can look at and feel about the flag however they wish. This is just how I feel.
  19. If NFL players or anyone else wants to kneel during the national anthem, that is well within their rights. I just don't understand where along the way it became insensitive, or ignorant, or racist to say, "I support your right to kneel during the anthem. I won't try to stop you from kneeling during the anthem. I may even support the reasons you are kneeling during the anthem. However, I personally do not agree with the manner in which you have chosen to express yourself, and I do feel it is disrespectful." We are at a point where a reasonable opinion cannot be expressed without being shamed, intimidated, or bullied in some way into apologies and admissions of insensitivity and ignorance.
  20. My guess is that it isn't the first one to happen...
  21. They are not going into any are that they consider unsafe, nor should they #EMSLivesMatter
  22. Of course they do. However, women near or below the federal poverty level account for the majority of abortions.
  23. I didn't say just black leaders. I also include many white politicians who are self-proclaimed champions of black citizens. Which ones betray the very people they claim to give voices to? Given the state of black communities in this country, I would venture to say pick a card, any card, Tibs.
  24. The autobiography by Alex Haley is one of the best books I've read on Malcom X. I respect his views and the fact that, by every indication, he lived what he preached.
