  1. Well, in all fairness, this is not the ONLY reason nobody respects him...
  2. Well, it depends on what you mean by "a government tool aimed at the black community." If you mean an overarching motivation of harming/oppressing them in some way because of their race, then I would say (1) nothing would surprise under Nixon; however (2) I don't see any evidence of that in, what I would consider, modern law enforcement times. If you mean legislation/enforcement of drug laws aimed at communities, that happen to be primarily black (we should add Hispanic/Latino communities as well), because of the intertwined relationship between drugs and violent crime in those communities, then I would say yes. There is more than a nuanced distinction between the two
  3. LOL Nothing anyone alleges occurred under Nixon would surprise me. There is also no doubt the war on drugs and crime in general have long been used for political purposes - as has any issue that can be politicized in any way. It still doesn't change my stance on the development of sentencing guidelines regarding crack cocaine. We are just going to have to agree to disagree.
  4. Law enforcement officers in this country feel completely abandoned right now. I believe the majority of this country is on their side - even if they feel they cannot do so openly (a statement I never thought I would utter). I am hoping those people at least show up and express their opinion in November
  5. Just like Jean Valjean in Les Miserables....
  6. It appears this campaign against Pinker is being orchestrated by people on the left. Am I mistaken about this? I am sure there are fringe people on the right engaging in this type of behavior; however, the cancel culture in this country is overwhelmingly populated by the left. EDIT: BTW, I am against this type of behavior, regardless of ideology, politics, etc. I believe it is reprehensible behavior to attempt to destroy a person, socially, economically, or in any way, simply because their views or opinions are different.
  7. What's to like about your replies? They are typically uninformed, non-insightful, and generally reflective of a room temperature IQ...
  8. I'm not a FOX follower. I'm also not a fan of obsession on either side. So, if you wish to respond to me, then do so with something that is relevant to my views. Otherwise, just STFU
  9. As long as people are allowed to act like animals with impunity, people will continue to act like animals....
  10. It already exists. It is called The Shoutbox....
  11. Why do you spend all your waking moments obsessing about the Trumps and engaging in childlike tirades? You would think your fingers would be too sore to type, given your 24/7 hand wringing....
  12. All great points; however, doesn't it really begin with what you "mean" when you say July?
  13. Cold, calculated acts of violence are sickening, regardless of who commits them. Vile.
  14. Here is an interview of Thomas Sowell from 2012. At the beginning of the interview, he is asked about Derrick Bell and critical race theory. The total interview is only about 9 minutes and, as always with Sowell, a good listen.
  15. Critical race theory and the principle of "whiteness," or "white priviledge," rests completely upon the assumption that white people are incapable of discerning different human conditions, social awareness in regard to manifestations of biases and prejudices, self-awareness, introspection, and growth without intervention.
  16. Nope. Agreement is not a factor in what is considered a “normal discussion.” Neither are tantrums and condescending behavior, both of which are prevalent in your posts.
  17. That is all he ever does. You can't engage him in a normal discussion. When he isn't having a childlike meltdown, he is being arrogant and condescending.
  18. My wife and I enjoy driving up to Asheville, NC, (about 4 hours) now and then. Some good restaurants, beautiful scenery, and the Biltmore Estate is a great place to stay. With that said, the above doesn't surprise me. Asheville is as white, liberal, and elitist as they come - and I am sure the guilt over their white priviledge is all consuming about now...
  19. You're an idiot and delusional.
  20. When we started creating hate crimes, we moved motive to the center of the crime, rather than the act itself. To me, motive is a sentencing issue. If a jury or a judge believes a certain motivation is worse than another motivation, then have sentencing enhancements and sentence the defendant appropriately. Creating hate crimes inherently draws distinctions between victims that shouldn't be there. Agree. I just posted something to this effect above. Aggravating factors already exist in certain crimes, I don't know why motive couldn't constitute an aggravating factor as well.
  21. Right, you read the article and assumed the information was true. We have no idea because we are not privy to actual investigative findings at this point. If, in fact, it did occur, then it could be an aggravating factor in sentencing (rather than charged as a hate crime).
  22. Motive is not an element to most offenses because we are smart enough to know motives can be incredibly complex, and sometimes impossible to prove. It is my primary objection to hate crimes. There are laws on the books for those crimes, they are called murder, assault, etc. If you think motivation makes the crime worse deal with it in sentencing.
