Sammy Watkins puts (injured) foot in mouth
billsfan1959 replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And he's ******* crazy.... -
I think so. It will be interesting with Jackson. during the regular season, Jackson, on average, held the ball for almost 3 seconds per pass attempt and was susceptible to pressure this year, particularly up the middle. He cut it down to about 2.6 seconds per throw against Tennessee, but he was still sacked 5 times.

Devonta Freeman visiting Bills
billsfan1959 replied to aristocrat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First, we don't know that they won't use Williams or Yeldon. However, if they choose to go with Freeman, then I trust the coaching staff to do what gives the team the best chance to be successful. -
Lessons behind Josh Allen rise article
billsfan1959 replied to loveorhatembillsfan4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Haha! There were 19 different running backs and receivers that caught a pass in 2018 for the Bills. Of those 19: 1. Isaiah McKenzie is still with the team 2. Logan Thomas is a starter with Washington (had 72 receptions) 3. 12 are no longer even playing in the league just 3 years later 4. The other 5 were backups with a total of 55 receptions between them for their respective teams in 2020. -
While I don't necessarily agree with the take that it was a complete stinker on Saturday (I believe the defense played fairly well through 3 quarters, given the field possesion differential and time on the field), I agree with your overall assessment that the 4th quarter defense left a lot to be desired and the offensive line was physically outplayed most of the game. The play calling was questionable at times, they could not put together any semblance of a run game, and Allen rarely had the ability to throw from a clean pocket. IMO (here's the only other area in which I disagree with you), Allen was phenomenal. Those throws to Davis, all while on the run from heavy pressure were elite throws. If a QB makes a throw like that once in a while, one could argue it is a lucky throw. When that type of throw has become routine for Allen when throwing outside the pocket on the run, it is talent. Again, IMO, he carried the team on Saturday. In the final analysis, I am with you: The Colts played, arguably, the best game of their season while the Bills played far from their best - and the Bills still won. I believe they will learn from this game and be better against the Ravens. Cheers, my friend

Lack of pass rush non factor vs ravens?
billsfan1959 replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Ravens blitzed more than any other team this season and Allen was blitzed more than any other QB this season. Teams have continued to be aggressive with Allen (he also led the NFL in roughing the passer penalties) this entire season, despite the fact that Allen has proven to be one of the best against the blitz and throwing while evading pressure. It will be interesting. I don't think Baltimore changes their aggressive style -
Lessons behind Josh Allen rise article
billsfan1959 replied to loveorhatembillsfan4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The issues with Josh always had less to do with the ability to accurately deliver a ball and more to do with consistent mechanics in his playing style, experience / understanding the game better, and talent around him. -
I am sure there are a lot of people who feel the Bills might be in trouble with the Ravens, given the Bills' defensive struggles at times throughout this year and last week. I think the coaches and players are tremendously focused right now, well aware of what they need to do, and will be ready to play a home playoff game with a chance to move on to the AFC championship game.

I Saw Myself On A Bills Video Today
billsfan1959 replied to F.W. Cyclone's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's amazing and such a great memory to have. My son lives half-way across the country from me now; however, we still talk before and after every game. I had the opportunity to be a fan of this team and watch them develop into a championship caliber team in the late 80s through the early 90s. I am grateful he is getting the chance to experience the same thing now. -

What a great thing for you and your son to share! -
It didn't just pop out. The defensive player pulled the ball loose as they were going to the ground. Why don't you go back and look at the play. That fumble had far more to do with good defensive play than Allen being careless, playing "hero ball," or not being arware of the situation. Sometimes negative plays happen and there really is nobody to blame....

Right. The defense played well through the third quarter, particularly given the field position differential and time they spent on the field. That's why I felt the game was under control when the Bills went up 24-10 early in the fourth. I didn't at all anticipate the defensive drop off for that stretch in that 4th quarter. I am sure they will do all they can to ensure there is no repeat performance against the Ravens.

Defensive DVOA and Pts Against of Opponents: Steelers 1st Overall 4th Overall Weighted 1st Passing 5th Rushing 3rd Pts Against Rams 4th Overall 1st Overall Weighted 4th Passing 3rd Rushing 1st Pts Against 49ers 6th Overall 5th Overall Weighted 7th Passing 10th Rushing 16th Pts Against Colts 7th Overall 10th Overall Weighted 8th Passing 9th Rushing 10th Pts Against Ravens 9th Overall 15th Overall Weighted 10th Passing 12th Rushing 2nd Pts Against The Bills were 4-0 against the other top 10 DVOA teams they faced, beating the Steelers (26-15), Rams (35-32), 49ers (34-24), and Colts (27-24) - for an avg of 30.5 PPG In those games, Allen was 106-51 (70%), 1248 Yds, 8.3 Y/A, 12 TDs, 2 INTs, 101 Rusing Yds, 2TDs, 2 Lost Fumbles (one being the Moss handoff in SF game). IMO, If the Bills play how they are capable of playing offensively, they will be able to score points.

Gabriel Davis sideline catch
billsfan1959 replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He had 3 sideline catches. Just watched each of them from all angles at regular speed and in slow motion. He didn't appear to booble the ball any of the catches and he got both feet down on all three.
