NFL Trade Deadline: The Bills Trade Rumors Thread
billsfan1959 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't think Beane and the Bills are afraid of anything. IMO, Beane will make any deal he feels helps this team in the short term AND long term. If he doesn't feel it does, then he won't make the deal. He also doesn't seem like the kind of guy that fears the "SB window" might be closing. Rather, he seems more like the kind of GM that will do everything in his power to keep that window open for as long as he can. I trust him to keep this team cometetive and in playoff contention for a long time - and not give in to urges to pull the trigger when he shouldn't because of some fear that the window is closing. -

One thing is clear. Beane is much better as a GM than you are at any sort of reasonable assessment of a team, coaching staff, and front office that you follow every day... -

I'm sure McBeane is going the route he thinks is best for the team, short term and long term... -
Regarding where this team stands and what they need to do, can do, and should do, in acquiring additional talent: If I had to choose between your analysis and Beane's... Let me see...yeah, I think I will have to go with Beane

Diggs #'s way down - Is this an issue

Why do so many people want to find "potential" problems with this team? -
Bills Classless Again [Edit: FinHeaven message board]
billsfan1959 replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well said and spot on. It really is not that difficult to understand. The only thing I would add is that Sean McDermott has nothing but respect for this game. He preaches it every day. He is not going to engage in behavior that is, or could be perceived as, disrespectful. That is not who he is. -
Derrick Henry potential season ending injury
billsfan1959 replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
I do think they would still be a good team and in the playoff hunt. However, I just don't think they would be a champioship caliber team. Hopefully, for Henry and the team, they don't have to find out. -
Derrick Henry potential season ending injury

He is not just any running back. I can't think of another running back in this league that could step in and provide what Henry provides for the Titans, in terms of production and offensive play calling opportunities based soley on how a defense plays Henry. I still think they would be a good team, just not nearly as good. -
Belichik has shown himself to be a classless kind of guy, where McDermott hasn't, and there have been plenty of instances where I felt Belichick's motivations were, let's just say, less than honorable. Even so, If it were the exact same scenario, then my response wouldn't be different. It was purely about strategy.

Miami got the ball back with over a minute left. If you can't understand that a team can score two TDs in a minute in ways other than sustained drives, then I don't know what else to tell you. Like I said, you can disagree with the strategy. But, if the strategy is, indeed the motivation, then it is not classless.
-
Philly scored a touchdown, kicked off, Detroit fumbled, and Philly ran it in for the second touchdown. Again, is it likely to happen? No. But it does and it happened more than once this week. If I felt the motivation was anything other than a numbers issue, I would call it classless. However, I don't think anyone who has followed McDermott at all, or has any understanding of the type of man he is, would believe for a second that he was trying to run up the score.
-
No they wouldn't score three times in 65 seconds, but they could score twice. Philly scored two touchdowns in 11 seconds yesterday. Is it likely? No. Is it possible? Yes. It was a strategic call. You can disagree with the strategy, but it doesn't make it classless. Motivation in these instances differentiates that. IMHO.

Derrick Henry potential season ending injury

Hate to see any player get injured. This would be a real tough loss for the Titans. Their running game and play action game will be nowhere near the same without Henry. -
Rank The Buffalo Bills Starting QB’s Since Jim Kelly

Orton should automatically be disqualified from any mention just for this play alone... -
OJ was my hero growing up as well and I truly didn't want to believe that he was capable of, or guilty of, such an awful crime. However, the evidence was solid. The verdict was a product of (1) a defense strategy that put the LAPD on trial as a racist organization that would do anything (including planting evidence and other immoral or criminal acts) to convict a black man - during a period of time where there were extreme racial tensions in LA; (2) a prosecution team that was preoccupied with everything but actually presenting their case in an effective manner; and (3) a judge that allowed the trial to be turned into a complete circus, in regard to both the media and what he allowed within the actual trial. IMHO, anyone with any experience in criminal investigations, criminal trials, and criminal law understands the verdict for what it was: Jury nullification.

If Beasley is in the game, IMHO, there is no way in hell Daboll or Allen are going to let anything influence who gets targeted other than what is best for being effective on any given play. When that offense is on the field, the only thing that matters is moving the ball and scoring points.

Not sure what the point of this post is...
-
Good calls - and the Bills didn't even need their A game... FWIW, I expect KC to be fully in the hunt at the end of the year, even with their defensive issues.
-
Whatever anyone thinks of Beasley, there is no disputing that he is a fierce competitor who gives everything he can when he is on the field. I have no idea if he was frustrated in the game as that comes from someone's interpretation of a moment in the game, or, if he was, what he was frustrated about. However, I have no problem at all with him being frustrated at not being able to contribute more than he did - I would expect it from any competetive athlete. As you say, it is how he handles the frustration.

What did the chiefs do on defense?
billsfan1959 replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in The Stadium Wall
It will be interesting to look at the All-22. Watching the game replays, I don't think either throw was a bad placement. And I am not so sure Diggs is leaving his feet to make that second grab. It appears Diggs stops to set himself for the catch and Fenton pulls him off balance, which made it look like the throw was more off mark than it was. Just my opinion based on game footage and maybe it will change when I look at the All-22. Agree on your other point. I feel like sometimes they are intent on proving they can run when they WANT to - and Allen needs to be better at times in audibling out of those runs. -
I think there were bad calls and non-calls on both sides. However, what frustrated me the most was that, going into this game, there was a lot public chatter about the Chiefs' DBs getting away with a lot of holding/PI and the refs pretty much allowed them to continue that same style of play. I posted these in another thread and they are just a couple of examples: 2nd half Bills punt because Diggs unable to hold on to a 1st down catch with, IMO, clear pass interference not called. Bills punt because Diggs unable to make 1st down catch with, IMO, another clear pass interference not called. Like I said, it went both ways. But, IMO, I think the Chiefs benefited more from the calls/non-calls than the Bills.

Have been a fan and confident he would turn into a good TE. Has all the tools.

What did the chiefs do on defense?
billsfan1959 replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in The Stadium Wall
IMO, the KC defense played about as well as they could have played in taking away what they wanted to (that intermediate area. They also did a pretty good job of making Allen move in the pocket and out of the pocket at times. But in the end, KC was fortunate that the Bills didn't put up 40 - 50 points. Outside of the last possession where they ran out the clock, The Bills had 8 possessions: 1st half 1. TD 2. Punt (Bills went from a 1st and goal at KC's 8 into a punt because of a penalty on Dawkins that had no impact on the play) 3. TD 4. FG (KC defense actually played well inside the 10) 2nd half 5. Punt (Driving rain and on a 3rd and 2, Diggs unable to hold on to a 1st down catch with, IMO, clear pass interference not called) 6. Punt (Driving rain and good defense) 7. Punt (Diggs unable to make 1st down catch with, IMO, another clear pass interference not called) 8. TD So, on 8 possessions they scored 3 TDs, a field goal where KC played good defense, and had 4 punts. Of the 4 punts, KC played good D on one of the punts, one punt was the result of a penalty on Dawkins, and 2 punts were because of incomplete 3rd down passes where the penalties were not called. As I said, I think the KC defense played as well as they could and they are fortunate they didn't give up even more points.
