First bolded: Many athletes exhibit anxiety/stress before a game, match, etc. It in no way means it affects their play once the game, match, etc, begins. And I'm sure whatever anxiety / stress Allen feels before a game, it is the same whether at home or on the road. Second bolded: Pure speculation on your part. If I were to venture a guess, I would say, during the game, Allen is far more concerned with what happening on the field rather than what fans might be thinking.

You forgot to add: Career Reg Season Home: 20-10 Road: 18-12 Career Playoffs Home: 2-0 Road: 0-2

I don't get it. Fans actively rooting against their team to have home playoff games? Nope, don't get it....

Of course no QB is going to win many playoff games with their worst performance of the year. It is the same as saying Allen (or any top QB) could win the SB with their best performance of the year. It's obvious and pretty irrelevant. Why in the world do people take one game and give it so much more weight than the total body of work? Why do you assume that is the performance he is likely to repeat in the playoffs? While Allen is still learning and growing as a QB and certainly had a bad day Sunday, I think if you look at Allen's body of work over the last two years compared to the "Top 3" QBs, he has certainly provided "results compatible with talent and experience." IMO, people are getting way too worked up over Allen's performance against Atlanta. Personally, I think the odds of Allen repeating a good performance in the playoffs are far greater than repeating a perfomance like his last one.

This thread will end well...

This is where I stand too. I think Jackson, while not in the tier of Allen, Mahomes, and Rodgers as a passer, is a better passer than many think. He's not going to put up big passing numbers in a Greg Roman Offense. However, in terms of overall production and what he has brought to his team over the last 3 years (42 games), he is up there with Allen (48 games), Rodgers (47 games), and Mahomes (45 games). Mayfield (46 games) is tougher because he just hasn't produced at the level of the other four.
-
That seems like a lot to atttribute to Allen from a few throws in a football game....
-
I never said a word about passer rating. I never said Josh didn't have a bad day or that he didn't look bad. I simply responded to your statement, "And he did have a Nate Peterman day passing." If you were referring only to the statistics in being Peterman like, then my bad and I wouldn't argue. However, if you are talking about his actual play on the field yesterday (in the passing game) as well as his stats. I stand by what I said. His actual play, while not good, and resulting in dismal stats, was in no way close to being Petermanesque. I just see them as separate issues and important distinctions in evaluating his play.
-
He certainly had a bad day, stat wise. But his actual play on the field, even just limited to the passing game, could never be considered even close to being Petermanesque...
-
I'm not sure, the passing numbers yesterday were pretty dismal. On the other hand, if those two things happened in Tennessee and Tampa Bay (we literally are talking inches on only two plays, the Bills would be 12-4, the #1 seed in the AFC, and one game behind the best record in football. So, you might be right.
-
I actually think if he converts that 4th down in Tennessee, doesn't touch the sideline with his foot when diving for the pylon at the end of regulation against Tampa Bay, and has an average or better day against Atlanta, Allen is, once again, in the top 3 for MVP consideration right now. You are right, though, there is some recency bias.

It looks to me like Allen is much better this year in when he runs and how he runs. I think he is very cognizant of not giving himself up to a big hit and, honestly, I don't remember too many runs this year where I thought he should have been smarter about it. With that said, I would rather it be much more infrequent and that this team had a running game that was productive and consistent.
-
Pretty much agree on all counts. He didn't have a good day passing the ball and the blame lies with him, the receivers, and the weather. However, he did make some key throws when he needed to and I don't get worked up over the interceptions as only one was really a questionable decision. His ability to make plays with his legs was integral in winning the game - and I really liked seeing an actual running game from someone other than Josh so that he didn't have to throw much in the second half (although he stiill did make some important plays throwing the ball). All in all, I don't worry abot Allen going forward.

My point exactly. I wasn't the one being aggressive in declaring my opinon CORRECT and telling someone else his opinion was WRONG. That was you. You can't really say that "because one has an opinion, it doesn’t mean that that said opinion is correct," and then go on to proclaim your OPINION to be correct and someone else's OPINION to be wrong. Or perhaps you just do not see the intellectual inconsistency in those two statements. BTW, I wasn't the one who was having a problem with someone disputing my opinion. You need only look at our respective posts to see that. Cheers

If you are equating my opinion that the throw was fine and Diggs should have caught it with the opinion that the Bills should have traded Mario Williams for John Skelton, then you are just being a dick. They are not anywhere close to being the same thing. If you cannot deal with someone disagreeing with your OPINION, perhaps you should just refrain from engaging with them. Cheers Very true, my firend
-
Actually, the commentators said he shouldn't have taken anything off. Anyway, why the hell can you just not accept a differing opinion. Everything you just wrote is opinion, NOT FACT. You may be right or you may be wrong - the same as me. That is the nature of opinions. My OPINION is he didn't need to take anything off that throw. That was on Diggs. You disagree and that's fine. Let it go...dude
-
Shhhh.... After spotting a team a safety and 3 turnovers, the Bills still beat them by two touchdowns and clinched a playoff spot. This is no time to be positive...
-
Not true. Apparently you can't see other posts or emojis in this thread alone. Even the commentators said that Diggs should have caught it. I have responded to you at least three times now that it is my opinion. I have also said you are welcome to your opinion and we can agree to disagree. I'm not sure why you can't accept that we have differing opinions.
-
That is a pass that I agree should have been thrown with much less velocity. That is a pass I believe Diggs should have caught, even with the velocity with which it was thrown.
-
Because, again IMO, it wasn't a mistake. You are the one saying he should have taken something off the throw, not me. If you want to think that, then fine, that's ok. I don't. My opinion is, and has been, that Diggs should have caught that ball as it was thrown. We can just agree to disagree.
-
I didn't say it wasn't ok to say it. However, IMO, it is irrelevant. Diggs should have made that catch.

Missing Out on Top Seed Was a Blessing in Disguise
billsfan1959 replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall
I didn't miss the point of the thread. But if you are going to ask me if I would rather the Bills have their playoff games at home or on the road, the answer, every time, is going to be at home. Not even a debate.
