  1. I thought it was a good throw by Jones and if Hyde doesn't make a fantastic play, it is a TD. I also think Jones did a good job with the pump fake to slow the corner. But I also think he looked toward his receiver the whole time and put just a little too much air under the ball, allowing Hyde to get there in time. I actually am one who thinks Jones played well as a rookie and is going to be a good QB in this league. If you watch the throw from the endzone (All 22) you will see what I mean. A little harder throw and lower trajectory and Hyde doesn't get there. Like I said, I like Jones and it is a minor criticism regarding a couple things that, IMO, made the difference between it being a really good throw and being a great throw.
  2. Right. You can see Jones pretty much look at his receiver all the way (although I think his pump fake did slow the corner) while Allen looks to his right before going left to Sanders. The other differences between the two throws is how much more air Jones had to put under the ball and how much longer it took to get there. Both throws were made from almost the same spot on the field and you can really see the difference when watching them back to back.
  3. I do not think it can be overstated how important it is that they have all of their linemen healthy, playing in position, and having some continuity playing together for a few games now. Dawkins is back to the form we all expected this year, Brown has continued to improve, and Bates has been just what has been needed at LG. With both Bates and Williams playing well at guard, Morse has been able to step up his game as well. Those 5 have played together in only 4 games; however, in those 4 games the offense averaged 427 YPG, 194 rushing YPG, 35 PPG, and went 4-0. It couldn't have come together at a better time.

Per Football Outsiders https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/nfl/team-efficiency/2021/totals Updated DVOA (regular season and playoffs combined) with weighted DVOA (most recent games) for remaining playoff teams: Highest road DVOA (offense and defense) for regular season (no weighted DVOA for these)
  5. The Jacksonville game was a perfect storm of bad offensive play, turnovers, and critical penalties. The Oline was without Brown and Cody Ford reached a new level of ineptitude. Not only did he, perhaps, have his worst game ever, but he also caused significant problems for Morse and Williams on either side of him. IMO, it was the worst overall performance by the Oline this season. The Bills moved the ball into Jax territory on 7 drives, with six of them inside the Jax 40 yard line. Critical penalties, poor Oline play, turnovers, dropped passes, and other offensive miscues derailed every drive. I never bought into the narratives that they weren't prepared, were over confident, etc., etc. I think it was simply a matter of the entire offense, not just playing poorly, but doing so in almost every critical situation in that game. It happens, and it happened to a number of top teams this year
  6. I recall Rodgers's toe injury being a media topic only so far as it affected his ability to practice and play. The same thing happened with Jackson. There was plenty of media coverage in terms of the injury preventing him from playing. I don't recall the media questioning, when Rodgers didn't practice, or at anytime, whether he was malingering, questioning his toughness, or, as you stated in your original post, "crushing him." So, no, I don't see the difference. However, this post seems to verify that your primary issue with Jackson, and the whole point of this thread, is that there is some type of double standard. If so, you seemed to pick a strange circumstance to illustrate your point
  7. During the regular season, among QBs with a min of 200 attempts, Allen was: - 1st in total play action attempts (178) - 1st in total play action yards (1643) - 3rd in highest % play action attempts to total attempts (28%) - 2nd in highest % play action yards to total yards (37%) - His rating on play action passing was 114.5 - 42% of his passing TDs came off play action In the Wild Card playoff game:
  8. I didn't say there was a carefully scripted agenda. As a matter of fact, in the post you responded to, I specifically stated I didn't think that is what the OP intended. I stay out of the weeds that some posters in this thread have wandered into. To me, the original post seemed to question the legitimacy of Jackson's injury and/or his willingness/toughness/etc. to play through the injury. IMO, Jackson stated he suffered a bone bruise to his ankle in week 14. It seems reasonable to me that such an injury can keep him off the field, particularly given his style of play. It also seems reasonable that the team and Jackson hoped he might be able to get healthy enough to play the last week or two of the season, or in the playoffs if they made it, and, therefore, didn't put him on IR. I truly don't see anything "interesting" or "strange" about the situation. The OP specifically stated, "If it were Baker Mayfield who was in a similar situation, I think the media crushes him. Even if it was Aaron Rodgers, I think it’s a major topic. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone in the media even ask the question, was Lamar truly that hurt..." First, I think the premise of the statement is absurd. I don't see the media questioning the legitimacy of a reported injury that would sideline Mayfield, Rodgers, or any other starting QB without some evidence sufficient enough to create such doubt, much less openly make the accusation. Second, to me, this statement by the OP pretty much says he thinks Jackson should be questioned about how truly hurt he is, and, inherent in such a statement, that there is somehow a different standard for Jackson. There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever to suggest he could have played through the injury. Not putting him on IR was perfectly reasonable. Not going into detail during the season about the nature and extent of the injury is also reasonable. There is nothing strange or nefarious about those things. Certainly nothing to suggest he could have played - and nothing to suggest there is some kind of different standard for Jackson because the media didn't, as the OP stated, "crush" Jackson like they would have if Mayfield in a similar situation. The OP also stated in a subsequent post, "I don’t think Lamar is malingering. If he can’t go, he can’t go." This is where I originally commented in this thread and why I stated I have no idea as to the intent of this thread. I see absolutely no evidence to support the statements in the original post, and the OP subsequently stated he didn't think Jackson was malingering. Given those two things, why would the he create a thread basically accusing Jackson of malingering and accusing the media of a double standard for not openly going after Jackson for malingering? His statements lack any substantive support, seem intellectually inconsistent, and I just don't understand the point.
  9. I'm not sure if that is what the OP intended. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. With that said, I'll admit that I really have no idea what the intent of this thread is.
  10. Yep, he will have that same old drive to work...
  11. Are you suggesting they are not playing to win a Super Bowl? Maybe you should take up a hobby, seek therapy, or find something to help you enjoy yor team a little more. Not telling you waht to do - just a suggestion And, actually, 2nd place in a world championship is not mediocrity. Again, I'm not sure you understand the meaning of the word.
  12. Allen and the Bills have won 34 regular season games the last 3 years, made the playoffs all 3 years, went to the AFCG last year, Allen finished 2nd in the MVP voting last year, and they won their first playoff game this year....just to name a few things. I don't think the word "mediocrity" means what you think it means...
  13. I don't give a s*** what you do in your life. My post was a direct response to you questioning other people's "fanhood" because they don't think like you...
  14. Don't cast aspersions on other fans and question "how much of a fan" a person might be because he or she doesn't have the same "nothing at all matters if they don't win a championship" mindset that you have. If you want to have a meltdown if they lose this weekend and dismiss everything they have done up to this point, then have at it. It is your life. Let the rest of us enjoy our team in the way we want without questioning whether or not we are actual fans.
  15. They beat Mahomes, were literally within inches of beating both Brady and Tannehill, and I have no idea why you included Wentz as he completed 11 of 20 passes for 106 yds. Tannehill didn't light them up. He was 18 of 29 for a little over 200 yds and an INT. The Bills comitted to the run and would have been happy with letting Tannehill beat them. What hurt them the most was giving up that 76 yard TD run to Henry. Even so, the Titans were playing the best football of their season at home and still would have lost had Dawkins and Feliciano not gotten absolutely blown up on the last play. What hurt them with Brady was that 234 of his 363 (65%) yards were YAC, with most of that damage coming in the 1st half. In the second half and overtime, they held Brady to 11-20 for 86 yards until they allowed a 7 yard pass to turn into a 58 yard TD in overtime. The Bills pass defense was 1st in hurry %, 1st in pressure %, and 4th in fewest YAC this year. They didn't allow substantial YAC very often. When they did, like in the 1st half against Brady, they ran into trouble. When they kept receivers in front of them and didn't give up many YAC, such as the game against Mahomes and the second half against Brady, they did well.
  16. Mahomes and the Chiefs are going to make plays and score points. IMO, the 1st key to beating Mahomes is for the Bills' D to keep the receivers in front of them and limit his YAC. Mahomes was 1st in the NFL in YAC this year with 2699 Yds (56% of his total passing yards). In their win over the Steelers, 68% of his yards were YAC with a YAC per completion of 9.2 yards. The Bills did a very good job of this in their first meeting. People can talk all they want about the KC defense being different the last time they played; however, the KC offense was averaging 34 PPG going into tha game. They held Mahomes to his 2nd lowest YAC per completion (4.2) of the season (his worst, 4.1, was a loss to the Bengals). The 2nd key is to win the turnover battle. If they can do these two things, I am confident they can win.
  17. Kelce will make some plays. The key in this game will be the same as the game earlier this year: Limit his YAC. Not just Kelce, but all the receivers. Mahomes was 1st in the NFL in YAC this year with 2699 Yds (56% of his total passing yards). If the Bills can keep the receivers in front of them and limit YAC, then I think they win. I think this matters much less on the Bills' side. Allen was 17th in the NFL this year in YAC with 1743 Yds (39% of his total passing yards). FWIW, Brady, Burrow, Rodgers, Stafford, Prescott, Garoppolo, and Roethlisberger were all in the top 10 in YAC. Only Brady and Stafford threw for more yds prior to YAC than Allen.
  18. Prior to the Rams - Cardinals game....
  19. Haha! I don't know if there is anything more to the extent of his injury than a bone bruise, particularly given his style of play. I have had a bone bruise - and I know I am not an elite NFL athlete, but I have to tell you it took a long time to heal and was incredibly painful. I think more highly of Jackson than a lot of posters here and I think he is highly competetive and gives everything he has when he is on the field. I believe he would have played if he was able.
  20. Absolutely right. These are the two best teams in the AFC and the matchup most anticipated when the year began. The are each healthy and playing well. The Bills have understood since the end of last season that their path to the SB, this year and for the foreseeable future, was probably going to involve getting past the Chiefs. I don't think getting caught up in the press clippings from their performance last week or a lack of focus in any way is an issue here. I feel good about this team and I am looking forward to this matchup.
  21. If you don't think Lamar is malingering, and you wouldn't hold the fact that he can't play against him personally... ...then why did you start a thread basically accusing him of malingering and holding it against him personally?
  22. I have no idea why anyone would pay attention to a poster who, prior to the 1st game against the Jets this year, predicted that the Jets would blow out the Bills and that the Bills might not win another game the rest of the year. And that is as close as he came to being correct about anything related to this team...

  24. I think Belichick wants the record for most wins and would essentially need 10 wins a season for the next 4 years to set a new record. However, I think what drives him even more is wanting to win a super bowl without Brady. I think it eats him up to see Brady have the success he's had with the Bucs. Had Brady retired or just been average with another team, I think Belichick could live with people wondering if the success the Pats*** had was due to him or Brady. But the success Brady has had just reinforces the belief it was because of Brady. The only way Belichick can get out from under that is to win a SB on his own.
