Bills interviewing Raiders WR coach Edgar Bennett for OC
billsfan1959 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Given the current tenor of this board, my guess is no matter what Beane and McDermott end up doing at OC, it will be a firing offense... -
I never said Daboll was a genius or that I was in love with the game he called. I am on record with being frustrated with taking the ball out of Allen's hands on the two 3 and outs where they ran the ball on 2nd and 3rd downs. Other than those two drives, they were fairly consistent and moved the ball. In the end, the ball was in the hands of the biggest playmaker: Josh Allen. He found the receivers he needed to find, put up 36 points, and put his team in a position to win. There were certainly things I was not happy with on offense and defense. I just happen to not respond emotionally with tantrums. I'm not the type to scream over and over about how upset I am and demand that somebody pay for upsetting me. I like to approach things more rationally and thoughtfully. But, hey, you do you.

Honestly. The same people that were upset earlier in the season when Allen was not taking what the defense was giving him, are now upset that he took what the defense gave him. He passed for over 300 yards and 4 TDs, scored 36 points, and probably should have won the game. Why in the world would anyone be upset because they didn't schematically change things to counter the strategy implemented by KC to keep Diggs from beating them, rather than being happy that Allen exploited that strategy to perfection with Davis? Who really cares which receivers Allen got the ball to as long as the passing game was successful?

So sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family.

I said that in my post. They traded away their first round picks for talent; however, they still retained most of their draft picks every year. That’s not mortgaging the future. That didn’t start until the last year or so and this upcoming draft will be the first that will have been truly impacted. So, like I said, we’ll see how things go from here.

They haven't been in a "mortgage the future" mode for half a decade. They had some good draft picks andthen started trading first round picks for established talent (much like the Bills did for Diggs); however, they still maintained most of their draft picks. They didn't truly start handicapping themselves in future drafts until the last year or so, and the upcoming draft, in which they only have two 7th round picks, will be the first draft in which they will really be affected in a big way. I have no idea how the strategy will play out long term. We will see.

I should be getting ready to go to the stadium right now

I am assuming you meant to write "I can't wait to hear what you will come up with next." So, I guess you can add obsessed to your list... -

Recognizing that you have a problem is the first step down the road to recovery. Who knew you could be so self aware? I'm proud of you. Now if you could just work on using terms properly. I don't think the term "word salad" means what you think it means... -

No, it is not. So, I was correct in my assumption that is too nuanced for you, which, therefore, makes it a fact, not an insult. You really should let this go now. It is starting to feel like you are stalking me, which makes me feel a little uncomfortable... -

You seem very angry - and a bit hypocritical: I came in here and expressed how I feel. You are telling me I have nothing to offer and to basically "get over" how I feel and to "stop it.". That seems somewhat invalidating and, by your very definition, "trolling." You know, that whole "people in glass houses..." thing. This might feel a bit nuanced to you; however, telling someone that the manner in which they are handling or expressing their feelings is unhealthy is not the same as invalidating their feelings. -

This from a poster who told me to get off my computer and go outside. Posters like you keep reminding everyone that this is a message board and people have a right to express themselves. You are absolutely correct. That means "everyone." Because somebody disagrees with you, it doesn't necessarily mean they are speaking down to you. If I respond to someone who has expressed the same opinion ad nauseam in thread after thread - and created new threads to express the same opinion - that it doesn't seem very healthy, that is my opinion. If you feel that is speaking down to someone, fine. You seem to want certain posters to be able to express themselves free of any comments that that don't support/approve of their posts or the emotions/motivations behind the posts. Perhaps it is just me, but that seems contrary to your "people have a right to express themselves" stance. -

Because I enjoy talking about my Bills. There is a difference between discussing a game and wallowing in misery over a game. If you want to do the latter, be my guest. You have the right to do so. I also have the right to comment when I think it is a bit excessive or unhealthy. -

One of us is enjoying his day free of negative emotions over a GAME played a week ago. One of of us is not. I'm not sure I am the one that is losing here... -

I certainly do. Do you understand the differences between healthy and unhealthy management / expression of feelings? -

But nothing was "stolen" from you. You weren't "entitled" to a win, you didn't "deserve" a win. I don't think it is the expression of negative emotions that most posters have a problem with. It is the continual expression of the same negative emotions over and over and over in every thread some posters go into. And when those threads are no longer being viewed, they start new threads to vent the same negative emotions. -
Didn’t affect the play on the field…

Has the NFL season ended for anyone else?
billsfan1959 replied to billsintaiwan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Spending time with my wife, working on a new business I am trying to get off the ground, reading some books I have been meaning to get to, etc... Actually, for me, I can't think of anything else I might do that wouldn't be more productive than watching games involving sports teams that I have absolutely no interest in. I understand those that will be watching the games this weekend. As I said in a previous post, when I was younger, I was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching every playoff game and the Super Bowl, regardless of who was playing. Over the years, my interests have changed, including the manner in which I follow sports. Now I am interested in the NFL as long as the Bills are playing and only watch games in which they are playing. When they are no longer playing, my interests on game days are elsewhere. -
Well, I think Dan Hanzus summed up the season pretty well for me
billsfan1959 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
Right. In 2017, KC had pro bowl offensive linemen, Kareem Hunt rushed for over a thousand yards, both Hill and Kelce had over 1000 yards receiving, and they had a defense in the bottom 3rd of the league. With Alex Smith at QB, they put up some good numbers, but they had to win their last four games to finish 10-6 and win a sh**ty division - and then got bounced in their 1st playoff game. They were a good team but not elite. They became an elite team In 2018. Mahomes took essentially the same team (with more offensive talent added), and with a worse defense to the AFCCG where they lost to NE exactly the same way the beat the Bills Sunday night - By a coin toss in overtime. When you have a Mahomes or an Allen at QB, your success goes primarily goes through them. -

billsfan1959 replied to billsintaiwan's topic in The Stadium Wall
The season always ends for me when the Bills are eliminated from the playoffs. It didn't in my younger years; however, these days I simply enjoy my sports team, and when they are done for the season, I have no more interest. I would rather spend my time more productively.- 72 replies

You are not getting past the Chiefs on a consistent basis unless you can play with them offensively. You always want to try to improve the defense. But today's NFL is different - particularly with an elite QB. In today's NFL, if a team has an elite, even possibly a generational talent at QB, that is where their success is going to run through on a consistent basis. Kansas City is in it's 4th straight AFCCG. They have added pieces defensively, but the reason they win consistently is because of Mahomes and the talent around him. -

Allen is a 25 year old, elite QB, still on the rise. This was his second year with a team around him capable of getting to the Super Bowl - if they played to their potential. There are no sure things in the NFL; however, I'm not sure why anyone would think this would be the last best chance to get to / win a Super Bowl for any team with Josh Allen on it. As long as they continue to add talent at the offensive skill positions around Allen and the Oline in front of him, he will have a chance to win every time he steps on the field...
