Yeah, I'm not sure where to find game by game breakdown re the types of plays run. There is no doubt that Allen's skills are at their best when he is under center and that, early in the season he was under center less than later in the season. I'm not sure if it was Daboll, the inconsistency of the line play, something else, or a combination of things, but it was an issue. With Allen, they really do need to have a running game tht defenses respect. He certainly can win without a good running game, but he is even a better QB with a decent running game.

Quessenberry really had a breakout year with the Titans in the run game. Some issues in the passing game -

I think that's Kyler Murray... -
Good luck with that. Ford was beyond abysmal last year. The best block I observed him make was against Darryl Williams in the Jax game. When he was on the field, the Bills were second worst in the NFL in pressures allowed and when Ford didn't play, they were second best in pressures allowed. Williams graded out much better at guard than tackle. Much of the reason is because Ford was next to him at RG when Williams played RT. Ford lowered the play of anyone next to him' The Bills oline in 2021 was in a constant state of "musical chairs" for a variety of reasons and lacked any continuity until the last 4-5 weeks of the season and into the playoffs. However, the one constant was that any lineup they put on the field without Ford in it, was better than any lineup with him in it.

I don't know about that. I think Indy's offensive line and ability to run the ball are far better than the Steelers. Combine that with a QB that could give them consistent, competent QB play and, IMO, they are the more dangerous team.
-
Agree. I will say I'd rather see him with the Steelers than the Colts - as I think the Colts would be a really dangerous team with competent QB play.

Yep. For me the hit was definitley dirty. It was a blindside hit and he actually left his feet to hit Williams in the head. I was never a big fan of his and even less after that hit. I honestly don't know how I would feel if he joined the team.

Personally, if completely healthy, I would take Smith over Jones.

I have no problems with Williams going. He does not fit what Kromer likes to do and, yes, he would have been overpaid as a guard. Also, I wasn't one of those criticizing the oline without holding any particular player accountable. Ford was awful and Dawkins didn't play near to the level he is capable until the last 5 games or so of the season. Dawkins also missed a game, Brown started only 10 games, Feliciano went down and ended up playing in 9 games - and when he did play, he wasn't as effective as he had been the year before. As I said, there were literally 5 games in which their best 5 linemen were on the field at the same time. In a year where they had all kinds of problems along that line, Williams wasn't anywhere near the top of that list.
-
Actually, the problem with the line last year wasn't Williams, it was continuity. When your top 5 linemen manage to play together for only 5 games all season - and two of those were in the playoffs, it is pretty difficult to assess overall line play. Williams kept moving between RT and RG because of injuries and covid. The emergence of Brown at RT (and Williams being paid T money at RG) and Kromer coming in are the reasons he is gone.
-
No, he wasn't horrible this past year. However, he is not a fit in Kromer's scheme.
-
Hell of a player. Not sure what was going on with his injury. There is talk he might be headed to KC.

I heard Cody Ford went to Right Guard college this past month....

Yep, and wait for the meltdowns over the next few days when Beane doesn’t give them what they want… -

If you took away every post of yours that was some variation of "McDermott sucks," your total post count would be about 6... -
I could be wrong, but I don't think the OP meant it as a "Start your own" rumors thread....

I expect Beane to do what he always does: Make whatever moves he believes will help this team be better now and in the foreseeable future. I have no idea what form(s) that will take. If he is able to bring in an impact player, I feel it would be through a trade rather than a free agent signing. My guess is free agency will be about finding depth and potential starters who are willing to structure team friendly contracts in order to play for a Super Bowl contending team. Beane has earned my trust that he will always do everything he can, within reason, to field a team that is capable of bringing Buffalo a championship. He understands that the success of this team will primarily revolve around Allen, which means, first and foremost, to put a good line in front of him and, second, to give him skill players to get the ball to. He also understands that line play on both sides of the ball is almost always the foundation of teams that are consistently good. Like every GM in the league, he has had his share of decisions that didn't work out; however, IMO, he has made far more decisions that have. He has built one of the best teams in the NFL and I expect him to keep doing what he has been doing.
