  1. I believe Watson already nixed the Jets, so, my guess would be Philly as well. They have the draft capital.
  2. I think that one guy was already on their roster as a draft pick: Aaron Donald Edit: I'll add Cooper Kupp. Also a draft pick
  3. My guess is that Mckissic decided to go back for more personal reasons and Chandler Jones did what almost all free agents do: went where he could get paid. The truth is, very few free agents go to a team strictly because of the potential to win a championship or because of a certain player.
  4. I'm kinda with you here. If you have a generational talent at QB, I think you spend your money wisely in free agency to target those 2nd tier guys to keep upgrading talent across all positions and hope you develop the stars through the draft (e.g., Allen, White) or occasional trade (Diggs). The truth is, game changing talent like Darnold isn't found in free agency, and for every "splash signing" free agent that actually lives up to his contract, I'll show you 50 that don't. Buffalo was 10th in sacks last year - and there is a reason Mahomes was only sacked 28 times last season. I'll give you a hint, it was pretty much the reason Allen was only sacked 26 times...
  5. What has that got to do at all with what I posted?
  6. My guess is if this was a Bills player you liked who decided not to leave because of reasons outside winning, you wouldn't have a problem at all with him on the team. You know, sometimes an evaluative pause between the time a thought enters your mind and the time you express it in some form can be be a good thing...
  7. Allen and Mahomes are two of the best in the NFL at escaping pressure. We watched both of them escape sacks in that game where 99% of QBs in the NFL would have been brought down. Somehow, when Allen did it, he showed exceptional vision, intuitiveness, and athleticism. When Mahomes did it, our defense sucked.
  8. There is a distinct difference between wanting to win a championship while remaining competitive and being content to "just be competetive." I believe Beane and McDermott want to win a championship every bit as much as anyone else and that they have a philosophy on how to do that, while keeping that balance between the present and the future. I also believe that Beane is not averse at all to buying that "killer dress" or a shiny new "porche," as long as it fits within his philosophy. If he thinks there is a "splash signing" that will do that, then he will pull the trigger. It just isn't going to happen very often. Far more often it is going to involve gradual increases in talent across the board working toward a complete team surrounding a franchise caliber QB. It's okay that some fans do not agree with that philosophy, but the loudest ones have been critical of Beane since his arrival. There has rarely been a move they agreed with, including the pick of Allen. If we followed the advice of the ones who have been the most relentless in their criticism of Beane, we would still be mired in mediocrity searching for that franchise QB. Yet, here we are with one of the most balanced rosters in the NFL and the odds on favorite to win the Super Bowl next year across virtually every sportsbook out there. I certainly haven't agreed with every move Beane has made and there are clearly decisions that didn't work out. However, he has built this team into a SB contender and, IMO, his body of work over the last four years has earned my confidence in him.
  9. I have no idea what has taken place behind the scenes between Mayfield and the Browns; however, publicly, the pursuit of Watson has not been a good look for the team. I understand that it is a business and the team has every right to explore better options at QB or any other position. Yet, it is not just what you do, but how you do it. It is a difficult situation, but there is a way in which can be done with some level of class and dignity, and then there is the Haslam way. I am not a fan of Mayfield, but I have no personal animosity toward him either. The team publicly stated their confidence and belief in him over and over since the end of the season all the way through the combine. Then they publicly let him know they don't have confidence in him and don't believe in him. There is really no coming back from that. Given all the ways in which Mayfield could handle this, what he wrote seems the most mature and professional.
  10. Cool. Just leave a number where we can reach you and then you can be on your way....
  11. In his defense, I suspect there is a strong possibility he is mentally ill...
  12. I've never seen anyone who has such an uncanny ability to be absolutely wrong on every take. You've become my new barometer for how to feel about anything football related...
  13. He has the perfect avatar. From one of my favorite episodes: "When every instinct you have ever had is wrong, the opposite would have to be right."
  14. Well this seals it for me. Now I know it is a really good signing
  15. The "Watson Effect." Miami and now Cleveland... Apparently, massage parlors aren't the only places susceptible to the downside of a relationship (or potential relationship) with Watson...
  16. Part of that is becauise Ford was starting next to him at RG and every time Ford stepped on the field last year he managed to bring down the level of play of the players on each side of him. When Williams was at RG, he had the 2nd overall highest rating (behind Dawkins) on the oline. The line did stabilize when Brown returned to the lineup. Part of that was Brown improving at the RT spot (had his share of struggles but played well down the stretch), but also because Dawkins was returning to form, Batesheld up the LG spot pretty well, all players were in the positions that worked best for the team, and Ford was on the bench. The best combination on the the Oline turned out to be Dawkins, Bates, Morse, Williams, and Brown, and they only played together in 5 games. But when they did, the offense averaged close to 200 yds rushing, 430+ yds of total offense, and 36 pts per game.
  17. Well thank goodness he gave you Josh Allen so that he’ll have a number of chances to bring that Lombardi trophy to Buffalo. Just out of curiosity, were you on board with the draft capital he gave up to get Allen, and the selection of Allen itself, or did you write pretty much the same type of critiques you are writing now?
  18. So, what you’re saying is that Beane, in the most critical decision a GM will make in today’s NFL - finding a franchise QB - hit it out of the park?
  19. Agree. Showed flashes, particularly in 2020 in a back up role.
  20. I think there are about 20 threads doing just that. And I'm sure that won't prevent 5 more from popping up by tomorrow...
  21. IMO, the idea of Jackson ever coming here was ridiculous. He wasn't going to give up a big payday just to stick it to NE****
  22. Based on what I have seen in the civil suit, Watson's Hardon wasn't Rusty...
  23. Agree. I really would love to have someone like him, or Jones, at RDE. Not just because it would be a proven impact player on the line, but also because I think you would see Rousseau's pass rush game dramatically improve.
