I don't care how many people in Philly feel like that, it doesn't make it a legitimate issue - and there is nothing in the moves that Chip Kelly has made that warrants the accusation. I am not a Chip Kelly fan. I think he is over-rated as a coach and in way over his head as a "personnel" man. However, he has never conducted himself in any way that justifies even the hint that he is racist.

Guess the Bills Free Agent Signings
billsfan1959 replied to Buffalo Destroyers!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mike Iupati (probably best run blocking guard available) Virgil Green (wasn't targeted that much in the passing game in Denver; however, incredibly athletic, a 3 down TE, and the highest rated run blocking FA TE) Derrick Morgan (If Hughes leaves) -
Post Cassel: What's next at QB?
billsfan1959 replied to Dorkington's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think they go after any FA QBs. I don't believe any of the FA QBs offer anything more than you get with Cassel. Absent some kind of miracle trade for maybe Cutler or Bradford (which I do not believe is likely - but, I never like to say never), I think they are going to draft Grayson or Mannion. EJ, Cassel, and the drafted QB of their choice compete for the starting job. There just are no really good options available to upgrade the QB position. I believe they invest in upgrading their offensive line, develop a strong running game, play which ever QB they believe can manage the game the best with the least amount of mistakes - and rely on their defense and running game. -
I think the Bills have a price they believe he is worth and are willing to pay - but will not over pay. I also think they have contingency plans in place (in terms of a replacement) if he decides to walk. I would like him back; however, I would not over pay. I have faith that the defense will be top 5 with, or without, him.

Seahawks offer Marshawn Lynch huge extension

They obviously didn't consult the chart on drastic decline in play by running backs after the age of 27... -
Cutler still might be available

And then have just as quick of a turnaround after one of his classic meltdowns with the game on the line... -
Can EJ be the starting QB for the Bills
billsfan1959 replied to BillsFan-4-Ever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why are you so obsessed with getting guarantees from other posters that they will acknowledge WHEN you are proven right about EJ? You are certainly welcome to your opinion; however, it is only that: an opinion - worth no more or less than any other poster's, no matter how aggressively you try to make it sound like a fact. -
Running Back Age/Production Curve

You interpret it as you would any actuarial statistics, as a predictor of the overall group performance. It is meaningless as a predictor of individual performance. -
Who "Won" this trade?
billsfan1959 replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Kiko and wish him well; however, I don't particularly care how the trade works out for Philly. Kiko might never regain what he showed the first half of his rookie year, he might turn into a ten year pro bowler, or something in between. It doesn't matter to me. The deal is done and I am not one to look back and say, "What if?" I only care about how well it works out for the Bills. -
A very reasonable post

Your crusade undermines your credibility when it comes to EJ...

Shhhh....you'll ruin the perception of some posters that the QB operates in a vacuum...when he is on the Bills...and his name is EJ Manuel

Rapaport: Trading Kiko was Rex's idea

I'ii agree with this when I see how his draft picks do under a decent coaching staff -
Your next Bills QB will be...the Sanchise.
billsfan1959 replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His main "bugaboo" is that he has been at the top, or near the top, of the leader board in interceptions AND fumbles every full season he has played - no matter who he plays for, or what system he plays in. Last year with Philly, if the number of interceptions and fumbles he had in the games he played would have been extrapolated out for a full 16 games, he would have been in the top 5 again. Given the lack of a franchise caliber QB, the Bills have to rely heavily on their defense and running game. The number one quality needed by a QB in that system is the ability to take care of the football - pretty much the opposite of Sanchez. -
Free Agency Countdown - What Will Whaley Do?
billsfan1959 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills go all out in upgrading the offensive line, as well as add to the RB and TE positions. I think at least one or two of the signings will be from the pool of "upper tier" players. I believe the philosophy of the new regime will be similar to what we see with Seattle - even more so given the uncertainty of the QB position. That means going all out to ensure quality offensive line play and a strong running game. -
Actually, you would only know what a franchise QB looks like if you picked the two that were. Otherwise, since true franchise QBs are rare, saying everyone of them will not be a franchise QB will make you right the vast majority of the time - but, still doesn't mean you have any idea what a franchise QB looks like.

QB guru George Whitfield's take on EJ
billsfan1959 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't you know, Other things like coaching decisions, schemes, the other ten players on the offense, etc., can only contribute to sub par play and losses when the QB is not E.J. Manuel.... -

QB guru George Whitfield's take on EJ

It will be on the O-line and QB position... -
How about 212 plays: As in 80 interceptions, 50 fumbles, and 82 Touchdowns in 5 seasons. Or, in other words, 26 turnovers to 16 touchdowns per season.... However, the butt fumble sure is a special play

QB guru George Whitfield's take on EJ
billsfan1959 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It should be more than 14 games... In 1984, Tampa Bay selected a QB in the 1st round of the supplemental draft. In his first two years, he started 19 games, completed 53% of his passes, had 11 TDs and 21 INTs - and then was traded to San Francisco where he had a Hall of Fame career. I am not saying E. J. Manuel will become another Steve Young. My point is that in some instances, it may take time, the right philosophy, and the right team. I honestly do not know, at this point, how much of EJ's struggles can be attributable to him, coaching, scheme, etc. I think what he does this year under a new regime will clarify that for me...
