The truth is, nobody knows if Allen will turn out to be a nightmare scenario or a dream scenario for whichever team selects him. Nothing more than personal opinions at this point. You have no idea which QBs, even going in the top 10, will be successful and which ones will not.

Who in the Hell Is Mel Kiper, Jr?
billsfan1959 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am no fan of Kiper; however, (1) I can respect that he had the vision and dedication to create a very successful career for himself, and (2) I am not really certain that he is any less accurate in his assessments than any of the other , so called, "draft experts." -
Am I the only one? I'll take any of the top 6 QBs

Amen. I trust that this FO has identified the QB they want and will do whatever they have to do, within reason, to get him - "within reason" being the operative phrase for me. -
Rob Johnson is still bitter after 20 years

Is Flutie your father or are you just on a random crusade? -
Rob Johnson is still bitter after 20 years

I was not a big fan of either QB; however, I think the bitterness RJ felt at the time was somewhat justified. I also think he should have moved past it a long time ago. Again, not a fan of either: RJ had all the physical tools, yet, even had things turned out differently in that playoff game, I am not sure he would have developed into what the Bills hoped for when they traded for him and, given how long he has held onto things, I don't believe he ever had the mental toughness. As for Flutie, well, he was always going to be about himself first and never above sacrificing the good of the team for his own ambitions. -
Sounds a little like projection on your part, as I didn't mention Rex at all. It was a general statement about the drawbacks of not having continuity, not about any particular hiring or firing. For what it's worth, I was never a fan of Rex.

That was one of the problems with the constant turnover of coaching staffs: We drafted players to fit one scheme, only to get rid of them and draft different players for the next scheme...

If the Bills TRADE UP for Josh Allen...
billsfan1959 replied to JaCrispy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To me, the only similarity in the two situations would be if Allen turned out to be a bust. Then they would be similar in that each consisted of a wasted 1st round pick on a QB. Your argument that it would be overpaying is a different one. In that argument, you have to accept, as a foregone conclusion at the outset of the discussion, that Allen is nothing more than a project QB who will be looking for a job in three years, rather than a possible franchise QB. That is merely your opinion. You may be right; however, you have no way of knowing that at this time. Allen would not be my choice either. Yet, he could very well turn out to be the best QB of this draft. The truth is, anyone of the top 5-6 QBs could turn out to be the best of this class and any one of them could turn out to be a bust. Only time will tell. Until then all arguments remain pure speculation and not worth reacting in a hostile or aggressive way when someone disagrees. -

That is to presuppose Josh Allen will be an overpaid, project QB, worthy of nothing more than a 3rd round pick. There is no way to know that at this point. -
If the Bills TRADE UP for Josh Allen...
billsfan1959 replied to JaCrispy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Arguing that trading back and settling for, arguably, the best prospect of a weak QB class is the same as trading up and choosing who they feel is the best prospect of a strong QB class is not a terribly insightful or intelligent analysis. If you are not into those things, then perhaps you should take your own advice.... -

No, it is not. -
Actually, the op was rather specific, not general; very concise; not random at all; and did, in fact, have a point. How does it pertain to us? Despite your attempts to provide your opinion as fact, the truth is that there is a possibility that Rudolph could end up on our team. At the very least, it is relevant topic as he is a QB in a draft where we need a QB.

The Pats want Lamar Jackson
billsfan1959 replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But, does Belichick think Kyle Orton should be on the wall of fame? So many unanswered questions.... -
He has plenty of arm to make the throws he needs to make; however, IMO, he never had a cannon for an arm. He has made his living in the 5 to 15 yard range with a quick release and accurate throws.

I think you have your Tom Bradys confused. You must mean General Thomas Jefferson Brady. I'm sure he had a cannon in his regiment during the Civil War.

Sal C: Broncos Love Mason Rudolph
billsfan1959 replied to Jamie Muellers Ghost's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So, given the NFL history of QBs from USC, I guess Darnold is off the table as well... -
IMO, Rudolph is a pretty accurate passer and, while he doesn't have the strongest arm, he has the arm strength to make all the NFL throws he needs to make. Actually, even given that he doesn't have the strongest arm, he still throws one of the better deep balls in this draft. He wouldn't be my first choice; however, I wouldn't be terribly upset if we ended up with him as a consolation.

"Chris Mortensen" would have been shorter for you to type...and a much more decent response.

I think most sports fans have fallen prey to superstitious behaviors at some point in their lives. I remember watching the Sabres do everything but score against Bernie Parent in the 1975 Stanley Cup finals. They played well, but just could barely get anything by Parent. Then, in a particularly frustrating moment, I walked out of the room. The second I got out of the door, they scored. I spent the rest of the series sitting in a chair just outside of the door, listening to the television from another room... Didn't help... I hope things are different for you (and for the memory of your mother) and McCarron turns out to be awesome!

No, hadn't noticed at all.

Bills very interested in rudolph
billsfan1959 replied to *******'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe the Bills have one of the "top 4" QBs in mind as their first choice, if they can get him at a reasonable (to them) cost. If they cannot, then I believe they like Rudolph in the next tier of QBs, but not at 12 - later in round one. -
One thing is certain about this draft
billsfan1959 replied to KingRex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMO, the one thing that is "certain" about this draft is that, each day leading up to it, there will be at least 10 posters on this board who each feel the first thought in his/her head about the QB prospects deserves its own thread.....
