HERE WE GO! GIANTS looking to TRADE DOWN
billsfan1959 replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely. I believe they have identified the QB they want and they have the draft capital to get him. However, I just don't see this FO giving up more than what they feel is reasonable - and "reasonable" is a relative term at this point. This will be fun. Ultimately, I do think they will select a QB at the top of the draft. I just have to trust they pick the right one. -
If the Jets get Rosen tonight, Beane failed

How is that relevant in any way to the current FO? No, I don't. -

Oh, I don't know... starting a thread to call a GM a complete failure if he doesn't do what YOU what him to do? It could qualify..... -

Not all fans throw childish temper tantrums based on a potential scenario. -
Is it fair to judge Josh Allen based on tweets?

There isn't a team in this draft that has more potential draft capital than the Bills. If any team moves ahead of them and takes any QB it is because (1) the FO did not feel that QB was their guy, (2) they didn't have a willing trade partner, or (3) the price was too unreasonable in their estimation. Aside from that, declaring the GM a failure, prior to the draft, based on the speculation that he doesn't choose the player YOU want makes you sound a bit petulant... -

If you want to pass judgment based on a few random texts/tweets, sent when he was 15/16 years old, and with absolutely no context to them - feel free. For me, it is a non-issue. -

Incoming, Speculation 49ers-Pats trade for Rosen.

Maybe he is referring to the escalating, conspiracy laced, ruminations that sound a little unstable... Or maybe not... -

Maybe you should just take a break from all of this until tomorrow night. Feeling a little unhealthy.... -
I believe the FO has identified the QB they want and that they will do whatever they can, within reason, to draft him. Rudolph is not my choice either; however, I love the flat out declarations on this board about which QBs will be good and which ones will not. He may very well turn out to be as good as any other QB in this draft - nobody knows. Even taking one of the "top 4" QBs, while increasing the odds of finding that franchise QB, is still a very real gamble. Since 1997, there have been 56 quarterbacks taken in the first round, less than 35% have won a playoff game and less than 35% have career winning records. In that same span, there were 33 QBs taken in the top 10. Excluding the four that have been in the league less than three years: 44% (13) have career winning records 44% (13) have won at least one playoff game 37% (11) have won more than one playoff game 20% (6) have won more than three playoff games 10% (3) have won more than 5 playoff games 17% (5) started at least one super bowl 6% (2) have won at least one super bowl People with much greater expertise than the posters on this board have been wrong more often than not. I'm with you Kirby, I don't care who they select, I just want him to be the right one. #fingerscrossed

I'm all for picking a QB in round one. The odds of landing a franchise QB, while still low, are higher than the odds in subsequent rounds. My point was that nobody really knows which QBs are going to be great and which ones will not. Far too many people offering opinions as if they were facts.

Educated guesses are made each year on QBs taken in the first round and are right less than 35% of the time in terms of being franchise QBs. Educated guesses, when it comes to predicting success at the NFL level are nothing more than slightly better odds on your gamble...
