  1. I'm sure Beane doesn't have any big-picture plan at all. Probably gets up each day and consults tarot cards for what player he should acquire or get rid of and whether or not to follow through on it. You might not agree with what he is doing; however, something tells me he does have a big-picture plan. Whether or not it works is something we will not know for awhile - and, no, IMO, it doesn't have to get worse in 2019.
  2. Does anyone still actually read the sports section of the New York Daily News?
  3. He did that at Wyoming. In the NFL, I am just not sure he would be an upgrade over what we have now.
  4. I just posted this in another thread, but, it seems appropriate here as well. Allen is 2nd in the NFL in average air yards per attempt and 5th in percentage of throws into tight windows (1 yard or less between defender and receiver) - which means (in looking at the numbers) he throws more deep routes with less separation by receivers than any other QB. His game is pushing the ball deep and that is what the Bills are scheming for him. I don't believe Gentry is going to help this problem because I don't think it is an issue of comfort or confidence in receivers - but more of an issue of receivers who can get open. In otherwords, an upgrade in talent, which I don't think Gentry is.
  5. So far, Allen is 2nd in the NFL in average air yards per attempt and 5th in percentage of throws into tight windows (1 yard or less between defender and receiver) - which means (in looking at the numbers) he throws more deep routes with less separation by receivers than any other QB. He also takes longer to throw the ball (from snap to release) than any other QB, which I feel is more of an issue of scrambling, keeping plays alive, and waiting for deeper plays to develop. To me, it is more of an indictment on the receiving corps that, in spite of the fact that Allen takes longer to throw the ball (which means more time for receivers to separate), he still has one of the highest percentage of throws into tight windows. Contrast that with Mahomes, who is 1st in the NFL in average air yards per attempt, but, has the second lowest percentage of throws into tight windows. Mahomes is having an amazing year so far; however, as good as it is, I have still seen plenty of throws that required adjustments from receivers because they were not "perfect" throws. For example, on the touchdown throw to, I believe it was Travis Kelce, Kelce had to slow down and wait for the throw. However, because there wasn't anyone within ten yards of him, he could do that and still get into the endzone. It is easier to make those adjustments and catch the ball when the receiver does not have a defender all over him. Allen had a good first outing. Time and increasing the surrounding talent will be the key for his improvement.
  6. Funny how that works. Good coaches can sometimes scheme around deficiencies; however, well, what is the old saying? It is hard to make chicken salad out of chicken s%#t?
  7. I rest my case. Tick...tick...tick...
  8. Not an insult, just an objective observation. Your posts often have the tone of someone who is about to become emotionally unhinged at any moment...
  9. Maybe he means one that is continuously in the midst of one tantrum or another - like a petulant two year old....
  10. Amen, brother!
  11. You could. A better suggestion would be to make sense in your posts. #wordsalad
  12. I don't see more than 4-5 wins, at best. However, I am looking forward to seeing Allen develop throughout the year, and seeing what the team does in the draft and free agency. IMHO, it was always about (1) getting rid of players and contracts last year, (2) finding their QB and eating dead cap space this year, and (3) adding real talent next year. The success of this coaching staff and FO will rest on Allen developing into their franchise QB and their ability to evaluate talent next year.
  13. Not necessarily. You do not have to assemble an all-pro at every position. You can acquire a lot of very good players at the tier two level of free agency....
  14. Not really. Seattle improved because they rebuilt the team, primarily through the draft, and struck gold on Russell Wilson. Pretty much what Commonsense said....
  15. I am having a difficult time determining the subject and predicate in this sentence....
  16. There are ways we should conduct ourselves, whether we are being paid millions of dollars a year or minimum wage. There are always exceptions to every rule; however, in most instances, the honorable and/or decent thing to do should be obvious...and not that hard to do.
  17. I feel like I am in a TBD version of "Groundhog Day." Every day I wake up, come on to TBD, and read the same post from you about how Josh Allen sucks...
  18. Agree. This is not a good team and they will be fortunate to win more than 4-5 games at best. However, I liked what I saw of Allen today. I am looking forward to his continued development this year and seeing what they can do next year in regard to bringing in some talent around him.
  19. I think I read enough of your posts. I stand by what I wrote. You have no idea how Allen is going to turn out. How EJ Manuel played or how people reacted to him are absolutely ridiculous analogies to Allen.
  20. Who's to say Allen doesn't turn out to be great. Then those reactions would be entirely appropriate. Nobody knows at this point. So, it is still a senseless comparison. But, hey, if it makes you feel good to jump all over them for feeling good about Allen's potential, then knock yourself out.
  21. Let me try to put this very simply. EJ Manuel and Josh Allen are two different people. What ever EJ did and however he turned out has absolutely no bearing on Josh Allen. None whatsoever. It is like comparing Allen's performance to any hall of fame QB who had an average debut. Senseless.
  22. I simply said he was a rookie who showed promise - like most of the posts I have read that were positive. You seem to be the one who is working himself up into a frenzy. Take a deep breath and calm down before you give yourself an aneurysm. And, yes, any analogy with EJ is intellectually lazy.... That post was what we call sarcasm. Sorry I didn't spell it out more clearly....
