  1. Actually, I believe I am taking a pretty objective approach. He is a rookie struggling on a bad offensive team. I have no idea whether he will eventually be a franchise caliber QB or not. I am willing to wait to pass judgement - as opposed to you, who have clearly declared him a bust already. And if you think Darnold and Rosen have looked any better than Allen, you need to go back and look at their play again. They are all struggling. Stop looking at their play through the lens of proving yourself right. Or, you can just keep looking for ways to pat yourself on the back for being so much smarter than everyone else that you can predict just how good or bad a player will be in the future.
  2. Or, apparently, from any sane, rational, objective ability to analyze football...
  3. Your post was in response to another post that a QB who can throw from the pocket is needed to win. Yes, we made the playoffs with Taylor at QB. Any team is capable, in any given year, of reaching the playoffs with a QB like Taylor. As the old saying goes, "Even a blind squirrel..." For long-term, sustained success, a team needs a QB who can consistently throw from the pocket.
  4. He's looked no worse than Darnold and Rosen. Imagine that, rookie QBs struggling. He may or may not turn out to be a franchise QB, nobody knows at this point. However, the rush to anoint young QBs as future Hall of Famers or busts, after a few games, seems to be reaching a ridiculous level.
  5. Some might say they made the playoffs "with" Taylor, not "because of" Taylor. And others might even say they made the playoffs "in spite of" Taylor.
  6. In listening to the podcast, my take is that the "cost" they are referring to is limiting the development of Allen. Their argument is that, because of decisions made by the FO, they have put themselves in the position of having to start Allen on a very bad offensive team. However, the team's desire to stay competitive is now coming at he expense of Allen's development. They believed the offensive game plan, at least against the Titans, was as much about limiting the potential for mistakes from Allen as it was about running the football. Even given the lack of talent at the WR position and Allen's inexperience as a rookie, he needs to throw more than 9-10 times (mostly short passes with an emphasis on not turning the ball over) in a half in order to develop. IMO, they are saying If the offensive game plan going forward is the same as the Titans game, then it comes at the cost of limiting Allen's development and ending up with a less accurate version of Tyrod Taylor. That is my take. I don't necessarily disagree. I like Allen and I think he has been placed in a very difficult position. His play has been what I expected, as a rookie and given the lack of offensive talent around him - and no worse than the play of Darnold and Rosen, to this point. I don't think the desire to stay competitive and the desire to develop a young QB are necessarily mutually exclusive, if you can find innovative ways to use him given his lack of experience and lack of offensive talent. However, if their answer to how to stay competitive is to just limit his number and types of throws simply to avoid mistakes, then they are limiting his development.
  7. We must not have watched the same game. Rosen threw 3 - 4 really nice passes. He started the game with a 75 yard TD pass to a wide open receiver. The rest of the game he went 9-24 for 95 yards and it was as ugly as it sounds. He had 3-4 legitimate drops, most of his completions were short passes, and there were 10-12 passes that were as inaccurate as anything we have seen from Allen. In other words, he looked like a rookie on a bad offensive team.
  8. It wasn't a comment on fascism. It was about a sense of elitism / superiority and the desire to, literally, remove from society anyone they feel is inferior - from intellectual and moral perspectives. 1930s Germany was a sarcastic reminder that, while this very same group accused Trump of being the second coming of Hitler, they are the ones whose behaviors more closely resemble what they accuse Trump of.
  9. There is no pretense at all anymore. It has been replaced with an overt narrative that they are intellectually, morally, and in every other way superior to the rest of us - and that those who believe differently than they do are evil and, not just need to be silenced, but, need to be eradicated from society. It is not about the truth, but, rather, "their" truth. 1930s Germany says hello...
  10. The democrats are experts at exploiting real victims for political gain, as well as creating a perception of victimization and then exploiting that perception for personal gain.
  11. Yes, IMO, for a number of reasons, to include: (1) When you have the opportunity to fill a position on the Supreme Court, you do it (2) This may have been an all time low in regard to behavior by Democrats on the confirmation committee. It was important to not legitimize that behavior. (3) The fundamental principles of due process and the presumption of innocence are always worth fighting for (4) The need to fight against the hijacking of legitimate sexual assault issues by radical ideologs.
  12. I have serious questions about what de Blasio defines as "workout."
  13. If you have a chance to view her speech, do so. A shining example of civility and reason in a moment it was needed.
  14. Honestly, I am surprised we haven't seen any real acts of violence to this point. It is only a matter of time when we have people (1) mobilizing and (2) openly urging emotionally volatile mobs to physically confront people they are being told are nothing short of the personification of evil.
  15. Senator Collins has put a very reasonable face behind a complete indictment of Democratic behavior in this confirmation process.
  16. I think it is possible that Collins and Manchin could both vote "no"
  17. The vast majority of the Agents are honest, decent men and women who are very good at what they do. The Agency, as a whole, is, IMO, the best investigative agency in the world. The recent bad apples seem to be from a group at the upper echelon of the FBI.
  18. More FBI Agents that rose up under Mueller: Touching all the bases to obtain their desired management positions - but, never staying in any one place long enough to learn what rank and file Agents actually do, or how to be one themselves...
  19. All of your posts serve only to highlight your inability to accurately interpret the world around you. Relying on your interpretation of what Kavanaugh said is akin to relying on a blind man to interpret the murals on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel...
  20. I think most people on this board would have preferred for Allen to sit this year, or at least a good portion of the year. That is not how it worked out and we have what we have at this point. Allen is certainly struggling right now; however, it truly is difficult to determine his level of readiness, given the lack of quality talent around him. I do not think the adversity he is experiencing right now will "ruin" him, I do like a lot of what I see with him, and I think he certainly has the potential to be very good. I liken his situation to Jarred Goff's first year. Goff was on a team that was slightly better in offensive talent (a better O-line, good running back, and not much at the receiver position) and not terribly imaginative from an offensive play calling perspective. He received a lot of criticism for his play and there were many who questioned if he would ever develop into a franchise caliber QB. In 7 starts, Goff completed 54% of his passes, averaged 155 yards per game and 5.3 yards per pass, had 5 TDs and 7 INTs, was sacked almost 4 times per game, averaged 12 points per game, and lost every game In 3 starts, Allen is completing 55% of his passes, averaging 197 yards per game and 7 yards per pass, has 2 TDs and 4 INTs, is sacked 5 times per game, averaging 18 points per game, and is 1-2 I am not saying Allen will develop into what we are seeing right now with Goff, because I have no idea at this point - nobody does. Anyone who expected more from him at this point, on this team, was not being realistic. We can have debates all day long about whether or not he should be playing, or whether or not he can be "ruined" by the situation he finds himself in. It doesn't matter at this point - all we can do is wait and see. Again, there is a lot I like in this kid, and I am looking forward to seeing if he shows the improvement he needs to show in his development throughout the remainder of this year. Here's hoping...
  21. This team has been in existence for 58 years. They have had only 13 years in which they have won more than 9 games, only 18 years in which they made the playoffs, and only 9 years in which they won an actual playoff game. If we are honest, in those 58 years, they were truly a championship caliber team in only 5 or 6 of those seasons. I have been a fan of this team since I attended my first game in 1968, so I missed 2-3 of those few championship caliber seasons. My adult son has been a fan of this team since he was a young boy and they have made the playoffs only twice since he has been watching them - and they haven't been a championship caliber team in the entire time he has been watching them. My son and I are very close. He lives and works in another state and we talk 2-3 times a week. Many of our conversations are about the Bills (and Sabres) and we talk after every Bills game. The Bills have not been very good for most of the years I have followed them, and rarely in the time my son has followed them - and, as fans, we both have experienced our share of frustrations. Yet, they are the source of so many wonderful memories we share and continue to be a positive part of our relationship. In the end, it is a game. Wins and losses are what ultimately defines a team. What we choose to take away from our experiences defines us as fans. Fortunately, my son and I have found positive ways to balance our love for this team and how it impacts our lives. Go Bills!
  22. Good for you. Admitting to yourself that you have a problem is the first step You go, girl!
  23. New on the political forum. Thanks, all, for the heads up. Got it.
