If the Sabres won the Stanley Cup, Scott’s response would be something along the lines of, “Yeah, they won the Stanley Cup; but, it took them seven games.”
-
Not that confusing, nor is it a false choice. It also was not about whether a Super Bowl win was better than a Wild Card loss. Most of us understand that - but, thank you for pointing out the obvious. The point was that I have heard over and over about how McDermott should be fired for taking a “playoff” team and turning it into a 3-7 team with some embarrassing losses. I have also heard from those same posters how Pederson is a shining example of what we need. Well, Pederson has taken a Super Bowl winning team and turned it into a 4-6 team with some embarrassing losses - like the one this past week. Some might argue Pederson’s failure this year might be more egregious due to the superior talent he has to work with. Just looking for a little consistency...

I love this narrative about the Eagles. They were a top 15 offense the four years (top 4 in two of those years) before Pederson took over. The primary difference in that team last year was the defense going from 30th to 4th in two years. Yes, their offense was great in the Super Bowl; however, they would not have gotten there without the defense playing at the level they played last year. Also, I asked this question in another thread for the people praising Pederson and wanting McDermott fired for turning a "playoff team" into a 3-7 team this year: Is Pederson the genius offensive mind that took his team to the Super Bowl, or should he be fired and run out of town for turning a Super Bowl team into a 4-6 team that is struggling offensively and defensively - and the team that was an absolute embarrassment on the field this last week? Got no answer.

Then why are you posting in a thread clearly about hockey?

Has the light finally gone on for Zay Jones?

I think there was a valid argument that he wasn't performing up to his abilities; however, IMO, it's never a valid argument to write off a player in his rookie season - and there were plenty in the "he is a bust" camp. As for the rest, I agree 100%. All indications are that he is a great teammate and he deserves credit for working hard to improve, and the front office/coaching staff deserve credit for demanding better and sticking with him, particularly after the off-field incident. Here's hoping he continues to improve -
The desire to start a six-year, journeyman, career backup on a 3-7 team to "see what he can do," or with some idea that he will defy his own history and, somehow, lead this team on a 7 game winning streak to, maybe, put themselves in the position of squeaking into the playoffs - rather than giving game experience to the guy who actually has the potential to be a franchise QB, and an opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate him in game situations over the remainder of this season? That might be the very definition of insanity.

Right. It isn't brain surgery or rocket science. It is pretty clear Barkley is not the future of this team. And yes, the front office and coaching staff have better sense than to waste time assessing a career backup, at best. Anyone with even a cursory understanding of football would see what utter nonsense this is.

Barkley's stats in 2016 were after he had been in the league for FOUR years and they were AWFUL. Then you add in a game from a 6 year veteran against a team, in the New York Jets, who couldn't have looked less interested in playing and EVERYTHING the Bills did offensively worked. And Barkley STILL should have been intercepted at least two times in that game. And you compare that to the stats of a rookie after 20 quarters of football? Apples to Apples? Really? Thank God the front office and coaching staff of this team has better sense

Thoughts on not making Anthony Lynn our HC?

Love when people accuse others of accepting losing when they have differing philosophies on how they choose to follow this team. BTW, Pederson didn't rebuild the Eagles from scratch. He inherited a team that finished in the top 12 in offense the previous three years (including top 5 in two of them). And for all your going on about offensive minded head coaches, the primary improvement last year that contributed to their Super Bowl run was their defense, which improved from 30th to 4th over two years. In addition, both their offense and defense have been pretty woeful this year. So, is Pederson a great head coach for winning the Super Bowl last year or is he an incompetent coach that needs to be fired for taking a Super Bowl team and turning it into a 4-6 team and the debacle we saw on the field yesterday? -

Well, in their defense, the team just made the playoffs, so, they couldn't demand for Beane and McDermott to be fired yet - and Allen hadn't been drafted yet, so, they couldn't declare him a bust... -

It is fun to watch...and it wasn't that long ago that the torches and pitchforks crowd were demanding he be cut. -
Derek Anderson Good for Josh Allen?
billsfan1959 replied to Miracle Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My post addressed the point the OP made that Anderson's sub-par, on field play prevented him from being a good teacher/mentor. It was a general statement that one doesn't need to have exceptional ability regarding a particular activity (such as playing QB) to be an exceptional teacher regarding that activity. It had absolutely nothing to do with whether or not Anderson is interested in that role. In fact, you didn't write a single thing that was relevant in any way to what I wrote. It is amazing how often you miss the entire point of a post. -
Quite a bit of experience in the area of cognitive development myself, as well as human behavior. I stand by what I said. There is no evidence, scientific or otherwise, that says Allen isn't cognitively mature enough to be on the field - and I seriously doubt that is the primary reason coaches sit rookies.

There is no way we will beat the Jaguars

8 TDs, 18 INTs, at least 2 turnovers in 7 of 10 games and 2 wins in those 10 games. He has had a chance as a starter. The front offices and coaching staffs of 4 teams, including the Bills, apparently do not share your insight. Thank God -

Yet you are obviously willing to ignore 6 years of history on Barkley. Kind of undermines your credibility.... -
