  1. If Logan Thomas' fingertips extend in the opposite direction of all other human beings and end at his palms, then, yes, it was off his fingertips. If not, it was a ball he should have come down with.
  2. That was not an easy catch; however, it was not an extremely tough catch. He was squared up to the ball and had to go vertical, not stretching or diving in either direction. In the end, it went right through his hands. That is a catch that an NFL caliber receiver should make 80% of the time...
  3. Agreed. I cannot wait for (hopefully) a drastic upgrade of talent this off season...
  4. Allen is still learning and has much to improve on, and yesterday wasn't a great day for him. However, he did make some good throws that could have made a difference in the game: 11:08 1st Qtr: 11 yard pass to Mckenzie on 3rd and 5. On target and dropped. Ended the drive. 6:41 1st Qtr: 47 yard pass to Foster. On target and room to run to the endzone. Lost in the sun (are you f'n kidding me?) 12:32 2nd Qtr: 4 yard pass to McKenzie on 3rd and 3. McKenzie couldn't even get a half a yard of separation on this route. On target, right in his hands. No catch, drive ended. 10:21 2nd Qtr: 23 yard pass to Thomas. On target. No catch at the goal line. 6:57 3rd Qtr: Flare pass to Ford at the LOS with room to run. On target. No catch I chose those 5 passes because every single one of them was on target and completely catchable by even the lowest NFL satandards. Those drops were the difference between two drives ending or continuing, 1 TD in the game or 2 (maybe 3) TDS, 217 yds passing or 300 + yds passing, and a 49% completion percentage or a 61% completion percentage. This is not to make excuses for Allen. Heaven knows he made some poor decisions and poor throws. However, it just feels like he gets far less help (or even luck) than he should when he does make good decisions and does make good throws.
  5. He didn't have a great day yesterday and he didn't get much help either; however, I do like what I see in him and the overall progression he has made this year. In terms of the offensive talent, what mystifies me the most since Allen has been back on the field these past five weeks is the absolute absence of any kind of running game. You would think, as much as he stretches the field, the constant threat of going deep, along with a dedicated "spy" on Allen, that even a substandard group could get some yardage. Outside of Allen, this team has averaged 69 yards a game and barely over 3 yards per carry over the last 5 games.
  6. We do need a solid #1 and #2; I don't mind overpaying to bring in the right receivers; however, for me, Watkins would not be in the conversation
  7. Other than those minor issues like his inability to stay healthy or put up numbers anywhere close to what one would expect from an elite receiver in this league...
  8. I actually responded once to him in this thread and immediately felt the shame and regret I typically feel whenever I do something I know I shouldn't do...
  9. My post was to the defense. They have some good young talent (although not elite talent outside of White, IMO) on that side of the ball and the coaching staff did a great job with it. They need to continue to add talent to that side of the ball; however, they need a drastic upgrade of talent on the offensive side of the ball. I do like Allen and I think he definitely has a chance to be the franchise QB this team has been looking for. They need to surround him with the talent he needs to prove he can be that QB. I also like what Daboll has shown me over the last 4-5 weeks. I would like to see what he can do with more talent. I'm pretty optimistic at this point.
  10. Having a 52% completion percentage in the NFL and showing improvement in his passing are not not mutually exclusive concepts. If you do not see improvement in his passing from the beginning of this year until now, then you just do not want to see it - which, I suspect is the case.
  11. I will hate the Pats because of the Bills' futility against them over the last 17 years; however, seeing a Dolphin's jersey still triggers unresolved PTSD issues from that "0 for the 70's" debacle.... So, my choice is the Pats, but just barely. It's like asking me if I would rather lose my arm or my leg...
  12. The Bills have the number three defense (3rd aginst the pass, 9th against the rush) (DVOA) yet have no pro bowl representation. White should be in the conversation of elite corners and he and Milano should both be in consideration for the Pro Bowl based on their play through most of the year. However, the competition is tough at their positions and it is not an overwhelming shock they didn't get selected. Personally, the defense's top 5 ranking says more to me about the coaching of McDermott and his staff than it does about elite talent - and I will take that all day, every day.
  13. He's also faced a defensive dvoa average ranking of 28 - literally 5 of the 7 worse defenses in the NFL, with a better offensive line and better playmakers around him
  14. An amazing year. RIP Mike
  15. If the defense had held in Miami and against the Jets he would have five 4th quarter game winning drives....
  16. I think this is the best case scenario for both Jacksonville and Flacco if it is doable
  17. I like both Jones and Foster. I believe both would continue to improve with more defined roles and legitimate #1 and #2 receivers on this team.
  18. It would be, as Yogi Berra once said, "Like deja vu all over again."
  19. Allen has, by far faced the toughest defenses, by DVOA rankings, of all the rookie QBs.
  20. I'm not judging him against Rosen or any of the other rookie QBS. I was just pointing out some similar college stats between the two because you referenced Allen's 1800 yds last year and it was misleading. I judge Allen all on his own - not against the other rookies. Each is in a very different situation with different skill sets. I am not in or out on any of them, as it is way too early to tell. Mayfield has looked good at times but has a better offensive supporting cast; although he has struggled against good defenses. Jackson has literally played against four of the worst defenses in the NFL in his starts and still hasn't looked that good in the passing game. Rosen has little in the way of offensive talent around him. Allen also has little to no offensive talent around him and has, by far, played the most difficult schedule in terms of Defensive DVOA rankings (avg ranking of opponents is 8th, vs 11th for Darnold, 16th for Rosen, 21st for Mayfield, and 29th for Jackson). I do not think Allen's accuracy is a major issue. I also think that, what is being criticized in terms of decision making and recognition is more a function of situation and experience rather than ability. I think we tend to over analyze the play of rookie quarterbacks. Allen has much room for improvement; however, the positives I have seen far outweigh the negatives. Only time will tell.
  21. And PFF has his drop rate at 7%...
  22. Why even bother? You will just get a headache from the proverbial beating your head against a wall....
