  1. No, it is anger at watching our QB take a deliberate shot to the head and watching the league, whose mantra has been curbing unneccessary hits to the head, do nothing.
  2. Right. He can make catches in traffic, catches with little separation, and contested catches. From what I have see out of the receiver group over the last two weeks, having someone making those catches with little separation or making contested catches might be helpful to Allen. 3. It is the kind of thing QBs who can run are subject to, particularly big, strong, physical QBs - Just ask Cam Newton. A double standard in that sense has existed for awhile. However, when I watch this play, I just can't escape 2 facts: 1. It was definitely helmet to helmet contact first. 2. Jones' intent was not to attempt a normal, wrap up tackle, it was to deliver a hit - and, he absolutely intended to deliver that hit to Allen's head area. This is really the kind of thing the NFL needs to get rid of: the desire to deliver that highlight hit, instead of making a tackle. It is what gets players hurt. I have watched every ange and fact number 2 above cannot be denied:
  4. I really like this move. Outside of Knox, there isn't a physical reciver on this team that will aggressively fight for the ball. I hope he does well.
  5. Lets just hope it isn't a premature evacuation from the practice squad...
  6. In the Pats* game, there was enough blame to spread across all of those positions and coaching.
  7. In watching the all 22, I thought Allen spent a lot of time the last two weeks trying to buy extra time just to find a receiver with any separation at all - while facing greater and more consistent pressure. I thought the receivers struggled to get separation against Cincy (particularly their corners). It was even worse against the Pats* across the board. Of the 44 pass attempts, there were, literally, a handful of plays where Allen had time to throw and had at least one receiver with any real separation. It was very remiscent of last year.
  8. Is there a translated version of this post?
  9. I think the difference is that this thread involved a substantive discussion on Allen's traits (good and bad) by a HOF QB and a former NFL coach. As opposed to the thread you mentioned which involved the typical "Bills made a mistake in not drafting Mahommes" whining - which is pointless, non-productive, and has been beaten to death. There are plenty of threads devoted to, or filled with, negative aspects of Allen's game that have not been shut down because they have some valid points. There is a small percentage of fans who believe he will be a bust and refuse to acknowledge anything good about his game - just as there is a small percentage of fans who can see no bad in his game. Those of us who approach it rationally and objectively aren't waivering. We understand the immense talent and potential while acknowledging the lack of polish and raw nature of his game. We understand that he is a very bright kid who has shown tremendous growth since he first stepped onto an NFL field last year, yet, has so much to still learn. We understand that, at this point, there is good and bad to Allen's game - and there will be for a while because of the type of mentality he plays with. Thus, the comparisons in the referenced article between Allen and Favre. It is a legitimate discussion, not a positive promotion. Most of us aren't waivering at all. We are being patient.
  10. This thread is in response to a specific article in which Steve Mariucci and Brett Favre both talked about Allen and his comparison to Favre. Perhaps you can send them each a strongly worded letter to stop comparing the two.
  11. This will be a tough game. I hope Allen plays. IMO, He gives the team a better chance to win than Barkley.
  12. Absolutely. I believe it is the latter and not the former. I think he is bright and understands what he is seeing; however, his confidence and competiveness lead him to err on the side of desire to make the play than on the side of caution. It is instinctive for him and will take time to temper - and it will never be completely coached out of him, nor should it be. It is who he is and I think that mentality will lead to a lot of success and a lot of wins in the future. He is just going to have to learn that there are times when it is best to err on the side of caution. I like these quotes from Mariucci: “The gunslinger-type quarterback, which Josh is, which Brett was … they’re less apt to check it down or throw it away or work through their progression,” Mariucci said. “Because why? They’re confident in their arm. They’ve made that play before and ‘I’m going to do it again and again,’ and sometimes it bites them in the butt. So I think he’s in that mode. Brett Favre was like that. Gosh it was hard to get him out of that overconfident-type mentality..." "What follows is a quarterback who plays without fear. No window is too tight. No play is dead until he says so." “Some of that mentality made those spectacular plays. You can’t coach that out of them otherwise he becomes milquetoast and he never makes a great play. There’s a fine line there where he has to tone it down sometimes and do the right thing, the smart thing, the conservative thing.” The Athletic consistently has a lot of very good articles. Worth the subscription, IMO
  13. Allen has improved greatly in the short game and, honestly, is probably best in the 20-25 yard range. I don't know why all the concern on deep passes as they shouldn't be calling that many of them anyway with the receivers they have outside of Brown.
  14. Let's not forget the Giants. While the logo may not, on the surface, embody thoughts of severe physical trauma, it does still subtly represent a giant race of people - taller than the empire state building - that could crush all opponents to death simply by stepping on them. Remember the old logo...
  15. I was wondering what you would do to occupy yourself now that Andrew Luck has retired...
  16. It was fun. They were a different team - and I hope it continues!
  17. Don't do it. Once you go to that darkest of places, I am not sure you can ever come back...
  18. I think all three (Oliver, Singletary, and Knox) are going to turn out to be great draft picks
  19. I'm not sure how significant it is; however, there is a distinct difference in preparing for Allen vs Barkley
  20. Right. There just seems to be a lot of an "all or nothing" perspective with Allen - on both sides. It is possible for Allen to have played poorly with bad decisions at times - and to also have played well at times. It is also possible for him to make mistakes, phyiscally and mentally all on his own and for some of those mistakes to be a result of external factors (Ii.e.; play calling, the defense, bad offensive line play, poor separation by receivers) as well. It is also possible that he continues to make mistakes while also improving.
  21. I was kind of hoping we could trade Zay for McCoy...
  22. Shhhhh...the torch and pitchfork crowd will not be happy to hear this
