There are a number of posters who, on a micro and macro level, immediately overreact and/or form opinions, provide analyses, assess blame, demand accountability, etc., prior to ever having the necessary information to do so. Which is fine; however, they then become so entrenched in those opinions, analyses, and blame - that they dig their heels in and refuse to accept any evidence to the contrary. And when anybody offers a differing opinion or tries to present evidence to support a differing opinion, it is met with anger, aggression, or outright delusional assertions. Now Joe B. is cluless, a hack, ignorant of the game of football, a mere puppet of Pegula under some illuminati type conspiracy theory, etc., etc., - all for daring to provide an anlysis and opinion contrary to a narrative pushed by some on this board. Put Bills trade talks today here.

Right. I think Beane will ALWAYS be looking to improve the team; however, (1) it has to be a player that would help the team now and for the next 2-3 yrs, (2) a player whose current team is willing to part with, and (3) it has to be for what Bean perceives as a fair value. I don't see much out there -
You would think the Jets would be better off keeping their players and getting rid of Gase.... #AssBackwards

I am of the same opinion, as unpopular as it may be. They have cap space for free agency and the draft picks to move around the draft board. They are still a year away from being serious contenders to go deep into the playoffs. -

You must really hate Belichick.... -
Haven't you heard? Every time the team started out well over the last 18 years, they have collapsed - It is inevitable. I've seen it posted here over and over and over.... I'll let you in on a little secret, though. The last time this team started 5-2 was under McDermott, and they did make the playoffs.

Game changer needed
billsfan1959 replied to loveorhatembillsfan4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Right. This is not a team that is one player away from being a Super Bowl contender and I don't see Beane trading away high draft picks to acquire a player to put them over the top this year. I have no doubt he is always looking to improve the team and if he can make a deal for a player or players that will help this team this year and beyond, for picks in the 3-7 round range, he will do it. -
TBN: Bills Run Defense Flunks Test
billsfan1959 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In this day of fans believing the NFL is all about passing and wanting to see 41-38 games where QBs throw for 300-400 yards, it is funny how many games still come down to teams being able to run and stop the run - particularly in conditions like yesterday. -
If you think that fumble is the "end of story" regrading why this team lost, then that is all you want to see.

Josh Allen - week EIGHT report card
billsfan1959 replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let me just take this opportunity to thank you for being the guiding light for the vast majority of us who (1) either have no ability whatsoever to honestly and objectively analyze QB play or (2) are such "homers" that we are blind to anything that Allen does not do well. Thank goodness we have such gifted football intellects, like yours, on this board to save the rest of us from our own ignorance. -
In regards to how the team performs this year, how any team in the past performed has absolutely no relevance. None. Period. Please stop.

I hear/read this all the time: references to teams of the past. You did it in this post and you did it in your opening post. Please explain how what happened to any team in the past has any relevance to this team. Seriously, I would love to hear any rational, logical explanation - other than it apparently has made your psyche more fragile.

For the most part, the Bills haven't had problems moving the ball, and when they have, it's not because the D doesn't respect the deep game. Their problem has been in finishing scoring drives between the opponent's 40 and 20 yard lines. That's the issue and there are numerous resons why - none of which involve the deep pass. This preoccupation with the deep pass is, IMO, ridiculous. It just sounds like a shift from "he can't complete the short pass" or he isn't accurate and will never be a 60% completion QB" or any of the other things people were complaining about last year....

He doesn't have to throw 50 yd bombs to utilize the talent in his arm - that's not the strength of his game. The deep pass is such a miniscule aspect of the passing game for most QBs. And, it's not as if the defense is just going to stop covering any receiver that goes deep. The threat is still there as long as he is taking shots. Eventually he will start completing them. He has improved in areas that are much more critical to moving the ball consistently and effectively. Patience.
