  1. Yeah, with his 134 yard passing performance. That was a SB won by their defense, running game, and, primarily Mike Martz' arrogance....
  2. Heard it at the end of the regular season and they didn't disappoint with their performance against the Titans.
  3. There was a LB spying on Allen and even started to move with him until he was sure he didn't have the ball. There is also a safety shallow covering Knox on that side I think Morse got kind of manhandled on that play....
  4. Good to see you come to your senses....
  5. Not as disturbingly bad as your posts....
  6. I agree with you that Williams makes that catch 8 out of 10 times. I do think he should have been active all season as well. The future is bright. Beane made a point at his presser to day about putting more talent around Allen. As for receivers in the draft, I'm personally hoping Beane can get Shenault in the 1st round; however, there are a number of good ones. Beane knows what he needs to do and I believe he will find a way to do it.
  7. No; however, this entire thread would be moot if Williams had caught that pass - and the Bills would have been up 17-0 at half, and the FG in the 3rd would have put them up 20-0, rather than 16-0. Big difference.
  8. Funny, coming from someone who thinks he is more important, and smarter, than everyone...
  9. He had three sustained years of success at SF. His fourth year was a down year for a lot of reasons, mostly a drop in talent (as evidence by the fact the team wouldn't win more than 6 games over the next 4 seasons). Harbaugh left and everyone was dismissed with him. He then was hired in Buffalo, where he had a successful year in 2015. If you remember correctly, Ryan dismissed him 2 games into the 2016 season. It was clear to everyone at the time that he was not the problem and Ryan basically used him as a scapegoat (particularly since he fired him after the team put up 31 points). He then was promoted this year as the OC for Baltimore. So, your insinuation that he can't keep a job because he isn't good enough is a little disingenuous. I wouldn't bet against the Ravens making the SB. They are having a good year on both sides of the ball and Jackson is producing TDs. You are right that he doesn't put up a lot of yards in the passing game, but, part of that is the QBs he has had to work with. He is good at sheming receivers open for them based on potent running games. However, his teams are always at the bottom of the league in pass attempts. I highly doubt Jackson comes close again to what he did this year, in terms of TD production and I think the Ravens are a much different team if he is throwing for 20 TDS as opposed to 36 - which is where he would be if his TD% dropped from 8.98 to 5 (a more realistic number and still in the top 10). The fact is, outside of Alex Smith for just over a year, he has had to work with mobile QBs with flaws in their passing games. That doesn't mean he is not capable of being a good OC with a drop back passer (he was pretty successful with Smith).
  10. Love Beane. IMO, he knows what he has to do and he knows how to do it the right way.
  11. He has spent seven years as an OC. His total offensive ranking, in points were 11, 11, 11, 25, 10, 12, 1. So, a top 12 offense (Pts scored) in 6 of 7 years. As far as the passing game, he had Alex Smith early, then Kaepernick, then Taylor, and then Jackson. None of them were close to being upper echelon passers in terms of yardage. However, everyone of them had their career year in terms of TD% under Roman. This year, Jackson had a TD% of 8.98 compared to last year when it was 3.4. The league average was 4.5. Since 1970, There have been only two performances of a QB, playing at least 14 games, having a higher TD% than Jackson did. There isn't a QB in the modern era (since 1970) that has a career TD% over 6 (the leader there, as an aside, is Russell Wilson at 6%). The point is: Roman may not rack up the passing yards (given the QBs he has had to work with); however, he gets the most out of them and the offense, point production wise - and, in the end, that is what counts. Spot on.
  12. I actually don't have a problem with this call. They were on the Houston 42 lard line with 1:45 left in the game. If they punt the ball, they have to stop Houston from getting one 1st down. The way Houston had been moving the ball, that was not a sure bet. So, I have no problem with them taking the shot. If they don't get it, then they are in the same position of having to stop Houston from getting a 1st down. It was made worse because of the subsequent sack.
  13. IMO, Allen is going to be the starter here for a long time. The only thing that needs to be addressed here is whether or not Barkley can win 2-3 games for this team if Allen goes down for a few games. If not, upgrade.
  14. I have no idea how he would be as a HC; however, Roman is an excellent OC.
  15. Good post. Agree with all of this.
  16. The throw to Brown at the 2 yd line (20 Yds) in the 2nd Qtr The throw to Williams in the endzone (22 Yds) right before the half The throw to Williams (11 Yds) that got called back on a penalty in the 3rd Qtr The throw to Brown on the sideline (17 Yds) in the 4th Qtr The throw to Williams on the sideline in the 4th qtr (20 yds) All of them were perfect thows from Allen. All of them could, and should, have been caught (two actually were caught by Brown but idiotic sideline awareness negated them, and one Williams was caught but called back on a penalty)That's probably two touchdowns instead of two field goals. That's more drives being extended. That's 90 more passing yards for Allen to go with his 264 passing yards, 92 yards rushing, and 16 receiving yards. That's a possible 462 yards of total offense for Allen. That would have put Allen's completion percentage at 62%. Allen may have had a few WTF moments in this game; however, had he had a little more help, there would be an entirely different narrative going on right now.
  17. It would have been nice if McDermott would have caught that pass for Duke Williams in the endzone, or caught that pass for John Brown at the 2 yard line, or blocked Mercilus on Allen's fumble, or blocked Cunningham on that QB sweep in OT, etc., etc., etc........
  18. People, like you, who didn't like Allen "being picked that high" will always view his play through that lens...
  19. I really like Williams and his skill set. I think he should stay on this team, and I also think he could play an important role next year and beyond. However, IMO, he should have caught that ball. The DB got his hand on Williams' arm and, maybe, prevents Williams from pulling the ball in as he falls. But, IMO, Williams should have pulled that ball in before the DB got his hand in there.
  20. Right. We know why they have coaches film. You really need to slow plays down, to look at them from different angles, and to do it after the emotions of the game have subsided. I have gone over every play in this game, both the broadcast version and the All 22, a number of times. There were so many breakdowns of execution in this game, and I can name four, off the top of my head, that almost certainly would have changed the outcome of this game. I will say, in breaking down every one of Allen's plays, there were moments I thought to myself, "WTF are you thinking?," there were moments I thought to myself, "Wow, this kid is special," and many moments of something in between. However, there were no moments where I thought he just doesn't have what it takes, that he doesn't have the "football IQ, or that he cannot take his game to the next level. A tough game because they could have, and probably should have, won the game. There were so many execution breakdowns in the fourth quarter and OT - with plenty of blame to go around. But, it is completely fixable. There is a good foundation to this team and I am looking forward to seeing what pieces they add in the off-season. I am not a Daboll hater; however, I do think, there are some serious questions there. My guess is he will be back and we will have to see. I am optimistic about next year. But, whatever the outcome, at the end of it, I believe we will have a more difinitive picture of what this team has in Beane, the coaching staff, and Allen.
  21. If arrogance was synonymous with certainty, your posts would be unassailable. BTW: I don't think your opinion about McDermott is the reason you are a simpleton and an idiot, it is a symptom.
  22. It's like recess is over and all the children are coming back in from the sand box....
  23. Actually, tipped balls can have a lot to do with pressure and penetration; YAC is also about route running, separation, and ability of receivers; throw aways have just as much to do with pressure and receivers not being open. You can choose to believe all of it is because of Allen's weaknesses. that's your right. I'll choose recognize that, while Allen has his areas he needs to improve on, there are other areas of performance on offense that affect his production as well.
  24. I agree. I think he waited a second too long. He should have tucked the ball and run. This play shows what he needs to work on and also what I love about him. He is always looking to make a play and I love that - and I don't want him to lose that. He has actually shown tremendous instincts in the pocket, however, he needs to be more secure with the ball when he is doing that, and, sometimes, he needs to just take what is presented to him.
