  1. I've been a Yankee fan since I was a kid. Just out of curiosity, what team do you root for?
  2. Why are you so preoccupied with doomsday scenarios? Just in this thread you have predicted hospitals will be overwhelmed, people will be dying in the hallways, and millions and millions of people will die. Honestly, you have no idea on earth what will happen, so why do you consciously choose to go there?
  3. Well, let’s just see how things go. No sense in predicting what we don’t know.
  4. Right. I’m sure very few headlines will bother to mention we have about 270 million more people than Italy....
  5. The death rate is my concern. Would like to see the death rate get below 1% or at worst, stay below 1.5%
  6. I kind of feel the same. I was fortunate in that I moved all of our retirement out of the market when it was still around 27,000. I never did that before. When China started shutting down and the market started dropping, I felt like people might be looking for a reason to sell off. I told my wife I thought it would be best to just keep our money safe untill things stabilized. I didn't think it would drop as much as it did. I thought about moving it back in when it dropped to about 18,000; however, I just don't feel like we are close to any kind of stability yet. We have literally seen record one day drops and one day climbs and everything in between. I just don't feel the volatility is over. Particularly when we have no idea what the peak of this virus in the US is going to look like, no certainties as to when the workforce might be up and running again, and what kind of long-term economic damage we might sustain. I hope things stabilize on all fronts in the not too distant future.
  7. Yeah, not sure what to make of it. I thought there would be a bit of a rally with the stimulus package and recent actions by the Fed; however, up almost 3000 points? I would think the market would be cautious until we see a peak and beginning decline in the virus along with some substantial movement toward getting people back to work. Over optimism? Thoughts?
  8. This makes sense. I don't want to jump to conclusions. Cuomo supported the use of the drugs. I'm sure it will be clarified.
  9. Just means more people will have to watch them on FOX.
  10. Singapore has 638 cases and Taiwan has 252 cases. What exactly does that show?
  11. You are now just being obtuse. The quotes I provided weren't conjured out of thin air. A quick google will provide you with plenty of CNN attacks and plenty of social media attacks. Look them up yourself.
  12. The only thing I ever claimed in this thread was that there was a lot of criticism of Trumps travel ban as xephobic on CNN, MSNBC, and in social media. The only Democrats I ever mentioned were Biden and Sanders. What I quoted were remarks made by Biden and Sanders immediately following the travel bans - I don't care the date of the articles. Both have clearly stated they would not have instuted travel bans or closed the borders. Even if you refuse to acknowledge they outright said it was xenophobic, to refuse to acknowedge that didn't even insinuate it or there was absolutely no correlation between their remarks about xenophobia and the travel bans is to engage in nothing short of willful blindness.
  13. And yet we have been running only about three-quarters of a percent behind Germany and better than every other European country
  14. In that article: Sen. Bernard Sanders of Vermont on Monday said he wouldn’t shutter U.S. borders as part of a potential response to the coronavirus outbreak. That has nothing to do with Mexico. It was a response in direct reply to the travel bans. Please, I have personally heard both Biden and Sanders say they would not have closed the borders or instituted travel bans early on in response to the virus. Just accept it. Things would be even worse now if either one of them were in charge and didn't institute the travel bans. Look at every country that delayed shutting down their borders.
  15. South Korea is the only country that seemed to be somewhat successful. The death rate there (1.3 %) is lower than anywhere else with a substantail amount of cases except Germany (.05%). The death rate in the US has been tracking between 1.2% and 1.4% of confirmed cases - similar to South Korea and, I believe, only behind Germany in all countries that have any substantial number of cases. So, I'm not sure how the pandemic response team would have made any difference.
  16. Bernie Sanders says he wouldn't close borders as part of coronavirus response Sanders: “But let’s not go back to the same old thing,” said Mr. Sanders, a top contender for the Democratic presidential nomination. “Isn’t it interesting that a president who has been demagoguing and demonizing immigrants, the first thing that he could think about is closing down the border?” https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/mar/10/bernie-sanders-says-he-wouldnt-close-borders-part-/ Criticisms of Trump’s coronavirus response are sickening Biden: “This is no time for Donald Trump’s record of hysteria and xenophobia — hysterical xenophobia — and fearmongering,” said Biden the day after the travel restrictions were imposed. https://nypost.com/2020/03/01/criticisms-of-trumps-coronavirus-response-are-sickening-devine/
  17. You both have gone on about Trump disbanding the pandemic response team or making it ineffective in some way. There are pandemic experts and teams around the world. I have asked you before and you haven't provided an answer, so I will ask again: 1. Tell us which contries in the world, with these experts and teams, have been successful in stopping or curtailing this virus or decreasing the death rate. 2. Show us how the lack of the pandemic response team here has affected the rate of the spread of infection in the US or the death rate in the US is in comparison to these countries I'll wait.
  18. Actually, both Biden and Sanders said the travel bans instituted by Trump were xenophobic and that they wouldn't have instituted them. There was also a storm of criticism on CNN, MSNBC, and in social media.
  19. Like I said to Gary, there are pandemic experts and teams all around this world. Since you are so convinced this team was disbanded or prevented from doing their job and making a difference: 1. Tell us which contries in the world, with these experts and teams, have been successful in stopping or curtailing this virus or decreasing the death rate. 2. Show us how the rate of the spread of infection in the US or the death rate in the US is in comparison to these countries
  20. Oh, please. There are pandemic response experts and teams all around the world. Show me one place, other than South Korea where it has made one damn bit of difference.
  21. Come on Tibs, calm down and you'll see things in a much more realistic way
  22. You know exactly what he meant. He said the Democrat accusations about his handling of the virus was their "new hoax." Following the hoax of his Russian collusion and the hoax of the Ukrainian "Quid pro quo. It was pretty simple to grasp, actually.
  23. Don't you ever tire of looking at things from such an intellectually shallow perspective? Seriously, your grasp on issues is so tenuous that I'm embarrased for you.
  24. Well, all I can say is you never will if you don't want to.
  25. Sorry, but people like to see the same thing in ther leaders as they do their parents in times of crises.: Strength and comfort
