  1. Right. We don't know. That is my point. However, let's look at what we do know. Spain and Italy have been the hardest hit countries in the entire world. Much of that has to do with (1) the fact that their populations are older with median ages of 43 and 48, respectively (95% of the virus deaths in Europe have been over the age of 60) and (2) their healthcare systems were overwhelmed early. Right now, they are both around 230 deaths per 1 million. Even though the median age of the US is around 38, there is no evidence our healthcare system will reach anywhere near the burden of those in Spain and Italy, and the actual data suggests we are handling it better, let's say we take the path of Italy and Spain, and even go further with somewhere around 250 deaths per 1 million. That would equate to somewhere around 80,000 deaths. BTW, one of the interesting things in Germany is that the number of confirmed cases, per capita, has been along the same path as most countries, yet they are experiencing fewer deaths, per capita, even with a median age in the range of Spain and Italy. They did some aggressive testing there early; however, much of that stems from (1) the fact that, for some reason, most of their confirmed cases have been with younger people where the death rate is less than the older population, and (2) their healthcare system not only didn't get overwhelmed, but took in people from surrounding countries.
  2. Pretty much what was shared in those classified briefings to the House Intelligence Committee, currently chaired by Adam Schiff in a congress controlled by Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats. Ok, Tiberius, I'll play along. Serious question? How do you think this is going to play out here. Do you think the United States will follow a path closer to Germany? Closer to Italy? Somewhere in between? Or worse than Italy? BTW, all the data seems to suggest far more people have been infected than have been identified - and nobody knows what that percentage is.
  3. What exactly is his ignorance here? jrober38 has had an apocalyptic tone to his posts throughout this thread. Seriously, the guy has been a non-stop, worst-case scenario prophet ad nauseam....
  4. I've been a Dewalt guy for most of the power tools I own. During my time in isolation I have had a lot of them out while working on a tiered deck (and small greenhouse for my wife) that I started last year
  5. The plan is designed to cause the virus to flee the state to a lower-tax, more virus-friendly area. "We thought about all the different ways to solve problems that we know of, and we just returned to the tried-and-true method: taxing something until it runs away," said Governor Andrew Cuomo. "This new legislation will cause the virus to run away and go to those dumb, backward Southern states not smart enough to have a special coronavirus tax."
  6. You might want to consult with jrober38 and his predictive models. There might not be anyone left alive by then...
  7. What is your prognostication Dr. jrober38? Are you still in the "millions and millions are going to die" range you were so certain about earlier in this thread? Is it just a million now? 500,000? From all of your posts on this particular point, you seem to be an expert in this area, so, please give us your estimation and what data you are using to reach your conclusion?
  8. Links are to articles of people expressing their opinion that Trump is a racist or interpreting his words /actions as racist? What a joke. Seriously " And you've provided zero evidence to the contrary." - Such a good little liberal. Label someone a racist unless they can prove they are not
  9. You discredit everything else you say
  10. As I said before, Cuomo is fortunate he caught the strain of the Cornavirus where the symptoms disappear when he needs to go on TV....
  11. There weren't any government officials in any country calling for drastic measures on Feb 1. Even South Korea, the first country to get hit, didn't react aggressively until their cases started to spike the second week of Feb. And you are absolutely right. If people are intent on finding blame during a crisis, then they should focus on a Communist government that doesn't give a **** about its own people, certainly doesn't give a **** about the people in any other country, and ******* lied to the world about this virus. Or, if it is only about politics, then blame Trump....
  12. I asked two questions of Gary, which you chose to respond to. Your response was inadequate, to say the least, and now you provide the above response. It is clear, from both of your responses, that you are having difficulty comprehending what I was asking. So, I am going to repost the questions one more time. 1. At which point in January and February (your timeframe) should the administration and other leaders around the world have reasonably known the magnitude of what was coming worlwide? 2. What specific information are you basing your answer on? Those are the questions. Sit and study them for awhile, feel free to look at the timeline I provided, look up information on your own if you want, and then just shout out the answer when it comes to you.
  13. Still waiting for an answer, Gary.....
  14. My question was, "At which point in January and February (your timeframe) should the administration and other leaders around the world have reasonably known the magnitude of what was coming worlwide?" You post a video of a doctor simply saying we knew about the coronavirus on Dec 31, 2019. On that date, all we had, through the WHO, was that there were several cases of "unusual pneumonia" in Wuhan. The virus wasn't even named until Jan 7 and on Jan 23, the WHO stated there was no evidence of human to human transmission. Do you want to try to answer the question in your own words? And please be specific.
  15. Thanks, will make the correction!
  16. Serious question. It is clear that everyone recognized there was a real problem in China by the end of January. However, here is a timeline. tell us: 1. At which point in January and February (your timeframe) should the administration and other leaders around the world have reasonably known the magnitude of what was coming worlwide? 2. What specific information are you basing your answer on? Timeline On December 31, China alerted the WHO to several cases of unusual pneumonia in Wuhan . On January 7, the WHO reported that China had identified a new virus, named 2019-nCoV, and that it was identified as belonging to the coronavirus family, which includes SARS and the common cold. On Jan 11, China announced its first death from the virus released the genetic sequence. However, it was also accompanied with the information that they had only experienced 41 cases and that there was no obvious evidence of human-to-human spread yet. By Jan 17, China had reported only 2 deaths and only two cases had been identified outside of China On Jan 20, First US case is reported On January 23, The WHO reported that the outbreak did not yet constitute a public emergency of international concern and there was "no evidence" of the virus spreading between humans outside of China. On Jan 20, Trump forms coronavirus task force On January 30, the WHO declared the virus a global emergency and reported the death toll in China at 170, with 7,711 cases. On Jan 31, President Trump bans foreign nationals from entering the US if they were in China within the prior two weeks. By Feb 3, new cases had been confirmed in at least 7 countries, including the US; however, there had been only 1 death reported outside of China. That was in the Phillipines and it was a man from Wuhan. By Feb 6, only 30 people in Europe had been identified with the virus and all had ties to China. This is also the date of the first identified human to human transmission of the virus in Malasia. On Feb 12, cases start to spike in South Korea Through the end of Feb, there had been 88,000 confirmed cases - but only 8000 confirmed cases outside of China. There were 2977 deaths - but only 142 outside of China Between Mar 1 - Mar 10 approx 35,000 new cases identified outside of China, and 1,319 deaths world-wide outside of China On Mar 11, the WHO officiallly declares a pandemic On Mar 11, President Trump bans all travel from 26 European countries for non-US citizens and non-green card holders By Mar 11, There were 32,000 confirmed cases and 1,400 deaths, world-wide, outside of China and South Korea - with both China and Korea reporting stabilazation of the virus. On Mar 13, Trump declares a US national emergency with 2,183 confirmed cases and 48 deaths
  17. Well, let's just be thankful that Cuomo has the version of COVID-19 where the symptoms subside when it is time for him to do his show....
  18. Hallucinations and seeing things that aren't really there is nothing new for Cuomo if you have ever seen anything he has reported on....
  19. President Xi Jinping made the extraordinary claim even as a peasant pushed a cart filled with dead bodies behind him, shouting, "Bring out your dead!" the entire time. "No, no one is dead," President Xi assured the media. "We have completely cured everything." The communist dictator claimed they have cured the virus using sheep's bladders, which they also use to prevent earthquakes. His scientists also discovered the earth to be banana-shaped.
  20. Actually, I do think they can. I think they have produced tests, are producing tests, and will continue producing tests. We just differ on what we believe in terms of what could have/should have been done and when. Well, just a few of the many things we disagree on
  21. Some people aren't going to like this....
